So doing a 5 minute fast and dirty attempt:
During combat, you may enter a state of frenzy with the following effects: -You gain +2 damage per DoS, but all attack actions are now greater actions (if they were not so already) -You may not use catch your breath or cautious attack. -Your weapon gains the vicious quality for the remainder of the scene against any opponent attacked while in a state of frenzy. -You must spend a lesser action to try and calm yourself down prior to the end of combat which is a self-control test.
The "add vicious" part would make it awkward in tourneys, duels of honor etc, and requiring greater action would make aim, maneuver, knockdown etc cost fatigue, so harder to stack the bonus with other things.

I'm willing to help provide a test of these mechanics to see if they're balanced when it comes to actual gameplay.

Other part I'm looking at is overhauling some of some systems that have gotten rather clunky since original conception:
1. Allow pooling of points for +1 total cost of item per contributor (So an item normally costing 4 now costs 6 if two pool points, 7 if 3 pool points etc). 2. Allow the use of "character scale outcomes" for houses at 3x cost --This to avoid the problem of large amounts of points flooding into the influence peddling, also would outright disallow using that to undo the Tyrell sway. 3. Cut the complex Tyrell intrigue and similar. 4. House points to now accumulated at 1-3-6-10-15 style in spendable points (full points for leanings, with 3x weight for lord and 2x for close family).
(Obviously some of these changes would only apply to any gained during chronicle 2 and forwards).
Glory->Always option to donate as influence to house.
Option 1: Re-set glory, but allow "legacy glory" to be retained as additional spendable glory (at half price). Option 2: Offer Day 0 event for buying perks with glory. Option 3: Simply re-set the glory track to exactly match the leftover amount of spendable glory.
Glory uses: -Grant +1D to any rumor test made when adding Status to it -Rouse admirers (or sycophants) to assist in simple matters.
Chivalry/Virtue....just stop handing it out for tourney results etc, use glory instead.
House Fortunes. -Cut environment factors. -If negative coffers/influence/reserves: --The house suffers -1D on all tests. --Suffer attack test vs wealth/status/power (Dice=deficit in resource, TN=Holding*5, suffer -1 to holding per DoS, wipe deficit) --The House may not undertake any long term projects. --Have house consume 1 reserves per season, have management test produce 1 reserves per DoS, critfail: -3. --1 reserves suffices to supply 1 power worth of army on campaign for 1 season (foraging can stretch it out longer, once supplies run out, foraging is the only way to sustain the men). --Modify coffers/influence/reserve generation to be a 1-3-6-10-etc scale with wealth/status rather than linear.
(Yes, this makes 1 reserves be more food and other supplies for a large house than for a small house). (Principal and Great Houses might have maybe 50-100% more than "normal" lords from their personal demesne, but most has actual lords or landed knights of the same power level as vassals coming in addition).

House Fortunes review I'll postpone for now, can start hacking away at it if there's downtime after chronicle 2. Might be able to squeeze through the last set of house fortunes rolls for phase 4 because of completion.
Current vague idea for future downtime is to condense each phase as having only a single noteworthy happening confined to one locale as far as events goes, weddings, tourneys, whatever seems the most interesting. With maybe some side-stories like 4 weddings and the Green Hand stuff if I feel like it, those tends to be fun.
Bigger question currently is what to do with glory, I don't like forcing a "spend or lose"-clause, but also kinda need to maybe re-set the track for gaining more.

Maybe throw out a few more chances for PCs to "burn" up some glory before Oldtown if you'd like a soft reset? We can get something out of it, while still making it easy to have a new slate.

I think I'm leaning towards just making it simple: Re-set the glory accumulation track, keep the spendable glory. Mostly seems like it's the inactive players that have a large stack of glory anyhow.
Also probably going to cut my other gordian knot with house points with making it so that only points gained starting with chronicle 2 (which will be slower than it has been up until now) can be used as the personal points of the house head.
That should clear up those things, some behind the scenes discussions with myself on how easily those things can be awarded via jousting, events etc, but that is more about trying to find a good level to be consistent on.
