greatbastards.boards.net/thread/264/day-2-hammered-steel-openSo, combat is extremely slow, and that is with limited armor and only 3 fighters on 2 teams! I can't imagine how slow it will be with 7 fighters and 7 teams! Especially given the heavier armour abd additional strategies! Do we have any way to streamline it, or do we lengthen the day with the melee?

The melee will be on horseback, and start with people lancing each other...so it'll be a bit more brutal. But the melee is such a mess that we'll probably start that ahead of time.

So it will ve 7 teams off 7 charging at each other in a big cluster? That sounds incredible😁

Yes, well, I've worked out something that will be slightly less spectacular but more manageable.

Do we have any way to streamline it, or do we lengthen the day with the melee? Well Malcolm hasn't been on in a few days so I think it would be safe to say he holds his action. That way the fight can continue and when he returns he wouldn't of lost his turn.

It probably makes sense to impose some sort of IRL requirement to respond in a reasonable, pre-arranged time period or have your action held automatically.

PC's will have their actions taken for them after 24h of waiting (can designate someone to do it for them or leave instructions) in the melee at least.

That way the fight can continue and when he returns he wouldn't of lost his turn. We can just repeat his action from the first round, except substitute an aim for move. It's just for fun so I don't think it's the end of the world if someone does it for him.

Ya that also works. Someone on his team can roll it.

Ya that also works. Someone on his team can roll it. I will when I get home from work. Try and get this wrapped up before day 3.

What qualifies as an "unaware foe" in the context of Knockout maneuver? Do they have to have their awareness denied to them somehow (using distract maneuver, for example?)
Would Ser Balon be unaware if Aerion suddenly stepped over and smacked him to protect his buddy Addam?

I have always read knockout as: "You creep up behind the guard and knock him unconcious with the pommel of your sword. Unaware as in they do not know of your existence... Maybe they fail to roll awareness against your stealth.
I think both arguments have points, but it seems a bit cheesy to be able to distract, then knock out. It would render brawler as a useless quality!

An assassin coming from the shadows. The Red Wedding's opening moments. Coming up behind a knight at a masquerade ball while he is getting a handy. Etc

What a great example! I figured it was much more about stealth than surprise, I'd just like to know going forward one way or the other. Will likely just go with old reliable and use knockdown
