So que the drumroll, we're opening up for business.
As of this posting, all changes to various posts in the game information area will be announced here (except typos and things which doesn't alter the meaning of what's written there). Up until the point when we start the IC for real, I will calibrate and tinker however much I fancy, players may adjust their sheets accordingly as we go along. Once we're launching the day 1 IC, everything will be locked in, and changes made after that will mostly be as a response to the discovery of significant mistakes and oversights (mine, probably). In particular, I may very well take a closer look on the apprentice/journeyman/master thing if almost everyone wants to go with the same option out of those.
As far as timeline goes, I'm personally a fan of moving quickly once momentum is built up, so if there are enough characters ready to go a week from now (On the 17th), day 1 IC will likely roll out then, but I am likely to allow for day 1 to possibly last longer than otherwise depending on how additional characters are coming along. Anyone submitting a character outline the coming week will have at least a week to finalize it and get ready to jump in without having to fear being left behind by the IC. If there are enough characters ready to go by the 24th, then that's the latest date that things will proceed as normal. People are very much allowed to join in later, but the IC will not be waiting for them to do so.
Also, short version of how character submission happens: 1. If you are interested in picking up one of the named characters (found under the threads for each house under setting), post in the character creation OOC thread to let others know not to start write a lot about that character, you should probably do this before you start working on it. You're strongly encouraged to post there anyway. 2. PM me with an outline of your character concept, this need not be final, it need not contain stats. 3. Once I feel there's enough to work with, I'll set up a private subforum, start a thread there with all the relevant info, and from then on use that thread to work out the details to keep my inbox reasonably clutter free.

We look to be on track to get things underway next weekend, "soft-starting" now is a bit too early, but barring unforeseen events, I'll be kicking things off then and aim to get us moved into day 2 two weeks after that.
However, anyone who's got their subforums set up (and have changed their display names accordingly) can feel free to engage in some "Day 0" scenes, meaning they happened "recently", best to place that in the Beyond Highgarden section. While I might pop in with some NPC's, these scenes should be 100% player driven. It's okay to make rolls and such during this time, but since stats may not be finalized, they shouldn't have any lasting consequences.
Also, when people's stats are finalized, I'll repost them in it's own pinned thread on your subforum, so when you're done tinkering, give me a buzz.
I also updated the rules for mounted combat slightly (knockdown and maneuver should mostly only work if both combatants are on foot in my head, there may be other such cases).

Definitely having enough players to kick things off this weekend, so we're sticking to that plan.
At the danger of repeating myself, your sheet is not approved before I make a pinned thread in your subforum named "[PC name] Character Sheet", that's just the mechanics though, you'll have to compile the backstory and personality on your own (preferably put it in the post below). It is not strictly necessary to get an approved sheet before engaging in IC, but you are not allowed to make any dicerolls before such a time.
Also, I shouldn't call it highly surprising, there's a bias towards highly specialized characters, I'm being more forceful in nudging down things on the intrigue side, because those characters can mostly only be matched by other schemers (mostly, an endurance 2 character is fucked if someone poisons her wine, but NPC's are not going to do that unless very strongly motivated). People should be aware that it will be difficult to shine in combat compared to other PC's if you don't have fighting 5 (the vast majority of NPC knights, even those noted as capable, doesn't go above 4), though anyone with Fighting and Animal Handling at 4 will be better than like 8-9 out of 10 jousters among the NPC's. However, anyone with Fighting 5 should expect to draw attention to themselves from scheming NPC's, so such characters should expect any vulnerabilities in the intrigue department to be exploited.
Because several PC's have opted for XP over Destiny Points (someone went for 5 though), I'll be moving ahead with plans for making DP more powerful, in particular they'll often affect all tests in an event (or part of an event), for example, I am thinking that a DP spent to alter a dice roll in a match in the joust will have the same effect for all subsequent rolls made during that match. While I reserve the right to create chances for DP to replenish during the chronicle, I am not planning to do so presently.

Edging closer and closer to day 1, I need to write a post for Levalle and Starling about stuff concerning their house which the characters in there would know about, a bit more profiling on (as of yet) unclaimed characters, a bit about internal going on's, conflicts, what sort of priorities the lord has etc. I also hope to cook up a few rumors for the mill. Hopefully on schedule to kick things off sometime tomorrow, probably after the football. You'll notice when it happens because I have a special OOC thread lined up for the occasion.
There won't be any quantifiable house objectives like in Dragonsdance and earlier games of this sort, partly because my version of houses and lands is much more abstract than that in the book, though PC's are free to define their own and set out to work towards them. I may allow individual goals with a reward, still debating that, though I fully encourage PC's to have goals even if the rewards may be solely story based.
Also I cooked up a new variant of connections.

So now Day 1 threads are going to start trickle in. As of now I'm going to demand very good pitches for people wanting to join Starkwoods and Levalles because we've got five PC's in those and three in the other two (not applying to those having submitted concepts prior to this post).
The Bread and Salt event is very ambitious in terms of the number of scenes with NPC's I'll be running at the same time, but these two next weeks are probably the ones where I am able to be at my most active, so I get good training and a sense of my limits early on. I anticipate that I will not be able to create as much content on the fly from day 2 and onwards.
I've been prioritizing getting people's sheets ready, as said before, they're ready when I put them in a pinned thread. You are not allowed to make any dice rolls before that point, but you can post other sort of IC.
I'd like to see everyone finalize their background and personality write ups (should be posted in the pinned character sheet thread of your for easy reference) and post a profile in the cast of player characters thread. Preferably within a week or so.

When people go digging for rumors (and wants their freebie rumor from connections) or something in a similar vein to that example, they should make a note about it in their personal forums (you still need to go make an IC post for such stuff requiring an action, like rolling streetwise), I might not catch it otherwise.

Someone pointed out one of my mistakes to me, and when I make mistakes I'll try to correct them, unless it's 100% to the benefit of the PC's affected, then I'll usually just let them stand and try not to repeat it.
I lowered some of the TN's in Willum's Wife and Bittersteel events, since a lot of stuff happened in Bread and Salt already, I cannot really change anything there as easily, but I plan on reviewing the rewards carrying on beyond the event when I sum it up during day-change.

I revised Bread and Salt rewards to account for the event being more difficult than I thought, making doubly sure that nobody is worse off.
Also of note is that you may be able to snatch yourself a fire/blood point even if you do not score highest DoS, since those above you on the list might not want to stick their head out, only the one nabbing the point will get themselves marked as a vocal supporter (the world might still take note, of course), so there's relatively little risk of backlash if you don't get that reward. But you'll have to mark your post if you want to go for the point.
Also, right now it looks like the home houses are more or less equal in terms of active and incoming PC's so I'm lifting notes about which houses to steer newcomers towards, if the current incoming players go where I think they will, newcomers are likely to be encouraged to join the Levalle's.

So day 2 stuff rolling out now, with all the stuff going on (and a few of the events, the Ball in particular got chopped up into multiple parts for everyone's sanity), I strongly recommend skimming through all the events before partaking, as some require participation in another event, and in some cases results in one event gives bonuses in subsequent events, mostly a legacy coming out of the Ball being a single monstrosity and the Parade and sign up was originally Steel and Ribbons. Hopefully I managed to catch and change all references to the old structuring of those events.
I *think* that the events coming in for later won't be overly massive and multi-tiered, poor timing of putting the two biggest events on the same day I guess.
I updated the OP in the cast of PC thread with presently active (and pending) characters, Levalle's are a bit understaffed at the moment (Imry had to withdraw) so any new players will be encouraged to join up here, and Levalle NPC's will become more active while NPC's of other houses will remain dormant.
Also signature review: I'd like everyone to display the following in their signatures: -Their status rank. -Their title and position, like Ser [Name], Sworn Sword to Lord [Name] -Any benefits or drawbacks that modifies default dispositions. -Any benefits or drawbacks that modifies the dice rolls of others involving you.

Also added Fire&Blood score to the Almanac.
Regarding Steel and Ribbons, I intend to wait a week until I start sending the NPC's on the move, with a few scripted exceptions.

Since everyone posted in Steel and Ribbons (of the ones eligible), I'm starting to roll out the NPC's, I'll skip on rolling for those I don't care to do it for, and I'll make a new thread to summarize the result of all the fun. Challenges and choices should be resolved in the original event threads. It's certainly allowed to do a little bit of wait and see approach to see where the pieces fall.
The "results thread" can very much be used for roleplay, but I want event-related mechanics to stay in the original event threads.

So I think I've more or less managed to do away with all the stuff related to events that does needs to be done before resolutions.
Now, specifically the dancing bit. I think I have given out the names or some hint about the identities of all the significant dancing partners there is. If you're charming them, then they you gain +1 disposition IF they know who you are (either you tell them or they see through your disguise), I will assume that you won't willingly reveal yourself unless otherwise stated. Seduce is also pretty straightforward (at least if you go through with it here and now). If you do intimidate or taunt, you should note in your post what you want to come out of that, or link to a post in your private forum with the same information for ease of resolution, otherwise I'll just assume that enjoying the dancing is all that was sought (same procedure for whether or not you reveal your identity to others).
Remember that you can influence (ordinarily) half with a different technique than the one you rolled for if you get multiple partners.

Also, tinkered some with the dishonorable tactics for the joust and made a new version of co-ordinate more to my liking.

I think I managed to wrap up all the events, bug me if I messed up or missed something, because that's bound to have happened with everything going on. I am hoping to get day 3 rolled out this evening, but right now I need to do other things for awhile.
Note to self: Make future events more straightforward to resolve.
