It has been rumored that Lord Leo would not hold a feast for the champions to mark the end of the tourney, many retold these rumors with hopeful voices, the peace of the realm may not survive any more feasts. In the end, Lord Leo decides to have one, but in his caution, probably wise, it is a rather formal affair, with toasts and speeches and the seating arrangements meticulously ordered to prevent the mingling of lords and ladies best kept at a distance from each other.
Restricted Event: Must succeed on a Status (Reputation or Tournaments)+Chivalry/Virtue TN 12 test to qualify, Lords, heirs and their spouses gains automatic entry, as does anyone having won a contest (Felling the white stag, battle enactment, melee (as captain or acting captain at the end), joust, queen of love and beauty and equestrian event).
Penalties from injuries and wounds does not apply to the entry test.
The following characters are not welcome, coming anyway costs -1 Influence and -2 Disposition with the Tyrells. Abelar (will be stopped at the door and thrown out if attempting to join). Daeron Balon Eldon Merryweather (joins anyway) Mya Rivers (joins anyway) Otho Bracken Walgrave Oakheart (joins anyway) Gareth Middlebury Maegelle Cordwayner (joins anyway) Jeyne Cuy (joins anyway) Simon Tarly
All activities are optional:
Speech! One character per Home House may make a speech, the character making it must have gained entry, additionally, each character having won a contest may also hold one (Felling the white stag, battle enactment, melee (as captain or acting captain at the end), joust, queen of love and beauty and equestrian event), at most one speech per character.
You may optionally attempt one of the following tests at TN 12: Cunning (Logic or Memory) Deception (Bluff or Act) Knowledge (Education)
Each DoS granting +1 to all further tests.
Then: Awareness(empathy) TN 9 Language (Charm) TN 9 Persuasion (Convince or incite)+chivalry/virtue TN 12 Status (Breeding)+chivalry/virtue TN 12
You must also choose (before testing) whether to be overt or subtle in your machinations and whether to speak up for blood/fire or not. One may attempt to influence opinions on other matters than fire/blood.
For each critical failure: -1 chivalry/virtue.
Succeed on all four tests: If subtle: +1 chivalry/virtue and optionally +1 to Fire/Blood score . If overt: +2 to Fire/Blood and marks you publicly as a supporter of that faction.
Highest total DoS (stacks with above) If subtle: +1 chivalry/virtue and +1 to your choice of Blood or Fire. If overt: +2 to your choice of Blood or Fire.
Commentary on the speeches: Simple intrigue (convince) TN 12, gain your DoS to your Fire/Blood rumor count. Only available for those who did not hold a speech. -Critical failure: -1 influence -Highest total count of DoS in favor of fire/blood, +1 score to that faction. -Taking the third option of neutrality: If the number of DoS favoring neutrality is at least equal to half the highest total DoS count of fire/blood, no point is granted, if it is the highest count, this part of the event have no effect.
A toast! Simple intrigue (Charm) TN 18, add spendable glory won to your test (if you have won 3-5 points of glory, it's +2 for example). -On a success, +1 disposition from who you're toasting to. -Highest total DoS: +1 influence -Critical Failure: -1 influence.
Special (some of these relevant only to the Speech Option) -The Head of House holds the decision on whom to hold the speech, Willem is too proud to let anyone do it for him, Alliser elects as he pleases (subject to drawbacks), Ulbert decides as the Starkwood PC's thinks best and Lord Jon dithers around so there is no Blackbriar speech. -A DP spent affects all tests equally. -Influence/glory spent affect all applicable tests equally. -Using the incite option costs -2 Disposition from the Tyrells. -Using the overt option costs -2 Disposition from the Tyrells.
Benefts/Drawbacks: (some of these relevant only to the Speech Option) Great Bastard: Gain +1D for the tests directly influencing for Fire/Blood Courteous: +1 to the four obligatory tests. Orator: +2 to the toast option and the four obligatory tests for the speech option. Charismatic: +1 to the four obligatory tests for the speech option. Vindictive: Must test to avoid using incite against someone who have wronged you. Furious: Must test to avoid using incite against someone who have wronged you. Prejudiced: Must test to avoid using incite against target group. Zealot: Must test if one does not take the speech opportunity to advance one's agenda. Supreme Arrogance: Penalty applies on the four obligatory tests for the speech option. Honor-Bound: Must test if one wishes to use incite.

Fucking melee finalist and a shithead like that is going to give me lip? Oughta have the bastard gelded or flogged or...And so Eoric mind kept going after a young servant had almost refused him entrance to the feast - funny how the oh, so subtle threat of violence had made the boy find his name on the list within seconds. If the lad was clever he'd stay away from the knight the rest of the eve. Steaming and muttering, Eoric made his way through the Great Hall, being led to his seat. His seat, so far away from the main table that he might as well have been a servant or hedge knight. Dandy as fucking pig's muck, this. [Commentary RP to come when I have something to comment on] Sometime later, Ashara looked over at Lord Jon Blackbriar, and raised her glass in toast. "I would like to honor Ser Donnel Blackbriar. As true a knight as any, a good man who loved his family and fought for what he believed was right. A shining example of what all knights should aspire to be." if we want all knights to die tragic deaths and leave their family vulnerable to any political schemer or land-hungry neighbor that glances their way. Titus is almost dead because he was too much like his father. I wish Symon would grow up a bit, but I wouldn't want him to be too much like Ser Donnel. "A toast to Lord Durwell; winner of the joust: a man of consummate ability and sterling reputation admired by all." Malyk raised his glass to the Lord of Norhall
"Reputation has always fascinated me. It is like a mosaic. A picture made up from little shreds of truth and lies glued together to make a portrait of a man for the world to see. People look at that picture and pretend it is an accurate representation of a man, yet they know in their hearts it is constantly in motion. Such a fragile picture. One piece can change and the picture is ruined.
I have served House Levalle all my life. In many ways, Lord Levalle has been a father to me in the absence of my own. Of course, most of you know him as Lord Spongeholder." He glances about the room. "Why do some of you look away? Surely if something is true when whispered in the dark, it is also true when spoken aloud in the light of day? You consider the name a slight, a title of derision. I consider it an honor, a title of sacrifice.
You would all like to ignore and forget the sacrifices that were made to appease the Unworthy King. How many Ladies sacrificed their virtues at the behest of their Lords, or their fathers? Sometimes this was for purely mercenary reasons, so these Lords could gather wealth and favors. Sometimes it was out of fear of the repercussions should they refuse. It is certainly true that Lord Levalle kept Aegon IV very busy indeed; so busy, in fact, he had little time for anything else. For that we all should be eternally grateful. I shudder to think what damage the man would have done had he not been so adroitly leashed to his own excesses.
Still, isn't it so very easy to have someone to blame. Isn't it so very convenient to have a scapegoat to feel superior to. I have to wonder what any here would have done in his place. I have to wonder if any would be brave enough to refuse the Unworthy King, and what price they would have paid for it. Aegon was many things, but none would call him understanding or merciful. You look down on my Lord for his actions, but I have to wonder if any of you could have dealt with the King's excesses every day, dealt with his increasingly depraved desires every day, mitigated the damage such a corrupt King could do every day.
Now we have a King that is far superior in every measurable way. Still you would go to war." He shrugs. "Interesting few whispered rebellion during Aegon's rule and none openly. Amazing how brave men become in the absence of fear." It was hard to tell if his tone was sarcasm, or simply disgust. "I am sure Lord Levalle will give a fine speech on restraint that few will listen to. I will not speak of Fire or Blood. I expect those plotting for war shall have it, and may it bring them all they deserve. I am sure that a great many good people will die, regardless of what side they are on, and a great many people will have to make very hard choices that they will try to blame on someone else later.
So, before you continue to throw stones at Lord Spongeholder, consider what you would have done in his stead when faced with impossible choices and a man of ultimate power and consummate evil... because most of you may well have have nothing but impossible choices before you in the coming months and years... some of you sooner... " He glanced at Lord Tyrell. "...some of you already.
Consider that you may have to live with those impossible choices for the rest of your lives.
Consider that many others will also have to live with your impossible choices long after you are gone.
I will have to live with Lord Levalle's choices... for I am also one of Aegon's progeny."
He paused a moment to let that sink in.
"And I am not alone. There are many of us; hidden, unsung, unknown. Living our lives as best we can without the benefit... or the burden of being a Great Bastard. Only Lord Levalle knows how many of us there are, but I assure you he knows every one. Even now, as reviled as he is, he continues to protect the virtue of countless victims of Aegon's depredations. Sometimes he makes mistakes, and if you knew the man as I do, knew how much he agonizes over those mistakes, knew how much he agonizes over even the choices he knew were right..." Malyk looked at his Lord. There was more than just admiration in his eyes.
I forgive you for not telling me, and I forgive you for telling me.
"You all seem to live in a fantasy world where all Knights are honorable, all Lords are wise and all Ladies are virtuous. He lives in the real world where sometimes all your choices are horrible and your best hope is to choose the lesser evil. I live in the real world where the man I respect the most did me the greatest injustice anyone has for the most compassionate and honorable of reasons.
So continue to mock my Lord if you wish, but your slights and sneers are meaningless, and nothing compared to what he has already been through. Continue the pretense if it makes you feel better about yourselves, but I have been everywhere and I have been watching, and much of what I have seen repulses me. The veneer you hide behind has worn thin indeed this tourney.
The Mother asks that we forgive those who wrong us. Most of the time it is not an easy thing she asks and the path to forgiveness is one full of stones and pain, but I believe the rewards of the harder path far out-way the luxury of our prejudices. It is action that shows true character and I would stack Lord Levalle's character against virtually any in this room. People whisper and wonder how I can see good in such a man. I wonder that people cannot, but then they would actually have to look and give up their, oh-so-very comfortable fictions. For that they would have to come join us in the real world. Few are brave enough for that... and none could do so unscathed."
With that, Malyk bowed deeply and respectfully to his Lord and strode from the stunned Hall. He was not sure if that speech was brave, foolish or mad. At this point he was passed caring. Given how deplorable virtually everyone had acted during the 'Black Tourney' he would not stand their veiled insults for his Lord any longer. Lord Levalle may suffer their thousands of little cuts as some form of penance, but Malyk would no longer suffer the hypocrisy. Most of them were weak sniveling cowards. Those few who weren't had done just as much or worse than his Lord ever had. The fact that they dared to speak Lord Eldon and Lord Levalle in the same dismissive breath was intolerable. What he'd said, had to be said, if for no other reason than to help ensure his Lord would never be the victim of men like Abelar. Tomorrow they would leave this wicked place and these wicked people with all their death and plans for more. They would have to prepare for a pointless war, perhaps even against their own liege.
As he strode through the rose gardens of Highgarden, he remembered how enraptured he'd been by their beauty. Now their abundant scent was cloying and sickening. He made a mental note to tear out every rose in House Levalle's gardens. Lady Delena much preferred dahlias anyway.

Should be enough to shift political opinion to a degree. Alliser is looking to drop Reviled so this should help narratively. Also drops a nice narrative bombshell he and I have been planning since we first joined. Although Malyk will not be taking Great Bastard as a Benefit unless the identity of his mother becomes public knowledge, which he will never reveal in order to protect her.

A number of good speeches are held, Ser Aladale, the feller of the white stag extols the good deeds of the king, Roland Redwyne delivers a lecture of the actions of the true knight, using examples such as Ser Daemon and Ser Daeron rushing to contain the menace of Ser Otho in the melee, though not intended as such, men like Lord Gormon are quick to seize upon his words to build their case. Lord Marq continues with his theme of speaking out against ill intent and foul play, mentioning acts done to advance the cause of those who would unseat the king as well as acts by those seeking to keep him on his throne, both sides mostly only hears about the depravites of the enemy, but Lord Marq appeals to those in the middle that would prefer not to get caught up in this storm, and Lord Leo nods on to the sort of words he had hoped for. Lord Willem follows with his usual speech on chivalry and honor, the authority behind his words makes people listen even if it is not the best speech ever held, a man like Lord Willem speaks both from experience and the heart, unlike the two dozen other lords that takes this opportunity to pay lip service to the ideals.

The hall braces itself for what is about to come out of Lady Mya's mouth, speaking on behalf of the now dead Lord Blackwood, her words is a stream of sarcasm and insult, openly accusing Bittersteel, Balon and Otho of using the cover of "noble competition" to murder her uncle in cold blood and slaughtering Ser Marlon just for fun when he came in his way. Walgrave Oakheart rehearses his tired old Dornish-hating message and how everything went wrong once the floodgates were opened up. Ladies Maegelle and Cuy are more reserved, if unwelcome nontheless.

A number of notable lords and knights have plenty to say about the speeches, Bittersteel makes a toast to his sister Shiera Seastar, "the most beautiful lady in all the realms", Ser Aemon can drink to her beauty, but Lady Lysette is at least equally pleasing to the eye in his opinion, though wars have been started for less, so he will not get dragged into an argument of who is the most pretty. Lord Alliser considers how he might speak words that would please Lord Eldon without reinforcing the image of himself as trading away his integrity for riches and power, a bit disappointed he concludes that it is not possible and that it is probably better to seek his favor through other means instead of having to repair the damage of publicly praising a man that everyone hates.

Unfortunately the champions of the equestrian event were one of the last to speak that night. Addam spoke of how the members of the fire cause had preformed valiantly while the blood supports had mar what was to be the greatest tournament in an age. But it seems the masses had grown tired of hearing about just how awesome the self proclaimed "Hero of the Rosewood" truly was, for their attention shift elsewhere almost immediately. Raising his Goblet high, "To Ser Daemon Blackfyre, a man who inspires greatest." Well that seems to get their attention atleast.

Although he is spotted earlier sniffing around the Great Hall, Daeron decides to not attend the celebratory feast, instead treating himself to a nice meal at the Golden Rose. Alone. He knew that he was not welcome at the feast, the work of that disgusting fool to be sure, but Lord Leo was not a man to insult, not after the living hell that his prized tourney had become. The last thing he needed to do was piss off someone who could be Blackfyre's most influential supporter.
