Ser Quentin is... well, hire a good painter to make a portrait and you'll never know which of the two it is you are addressing. Actual lol at that one.

I was thinking hard of what the setting appropriate equivalent of a cardboard cutout was lol.

"Do you know that she refuses - refuses! - to tell me exactly what he said, because she knows how hard I've been working towards better relations between our houses, and she knows that I am nowhere near so even-tempered and forgiving as she. *claps* I think you encapsulate the essence of that discussion better in one sentence than if we had played out a whole scene. That post is great for so many other reasons too. I love the way you play on both the setting notions of bastardy and also modern notions of broken households without any awkward feelings of anachronism.

Thank you! I could have abstracted it, and just had a short scene there (would have been a *lot* less work), but I thought it could become something of a turning point for Mikel, and hopefully worth the time invested, as well as hopefully redefining the relationship between us. Laena's more than happy to put in some work if it gets her something useful at the end of it...

Septon Abelar finds his way through the crowd. Such unwholesome entertainment is not his preferred pastime, but with half of the court present, one must needs make compromises to wield any influence at all. Besides, my presence will keep the debauch at least somewhat in line. Nevertheless, he had a sinking feeling. Mummers often make the clergy into the butt of their idiotic japes. As if nobody had ever noted the contradictions of a pregnant septa or a ribald man of the cloth! His cheeks begin to burn for a moment when he remembers that first festival day back in Oldtown, when the mummer's troupe had told the tale of "Septon Handcock, blessed with seven stout inches of flesh, but cursed with seven holy vows." The boy Abelar had rushed out into the street to stop and warn them that they were mocking the gods. But the crowd just laughed all the harder and pelted him with rotten vegetables. Mummers . . . blast them all, Father. As a former semi-pro actor..... hilarious!

I'm loving everything coming out of the Blackbriar camp right now, literally had shivers from this thread between Balon and Titus.

All a-board the Drama-train! Next stop, Kinslayerville! Stunning stuff. Good work both of you. Excited/nervous to see the terms set both in terms of weapons/mounts and also first blood/yield plus which day it occurs. We haven't had this kind of internal triangle in any of the previous games, it has been great to watch. Pleased to see it has dragged in other characters too, like Ashara and various knights that are friends of one side or the other in the conflict. Someone send the drama-train off the rails by demanding a trial of seven (not sure that entirely works admittedly, as this isn't a legal matter yet). Also lets us emphasise the culture's strong aversion to kinslaying, or at the very least kinstabbing.

Top stinger to what what already a fine thread between Laena and Mikel. Not all awesome moments need to involve clashing swords or fiery speeches (but those are pretty cool, as are fiery swords and clashing speeches): greatbastards.boards.net/post/8657/thread
