Jasper They almost caught him completely by surprise, Ser Jasper Flowers shouts out ambush and spurs his horse, and then the rain of arrows comes relentlessly, the horses gives out, he senses more than sees his squire buckling over lifeless, if Jasper tries and save him, if indeed he could be saved, he will die trying. With the horse on the ground in his death throes, he can only steel himself for what is to come. Three knights, green hands upon their shields, just like the story he had not failed to hear retold on The Trident and other places. If this is how it is going to be, Ser Jasper Flowers will not go down easily. He mostly deflects the first set of blows while finding the opening to fell the first man, one down, two to go. The second proves more resilient, but he is cut down just as surely, and yet, the constant rain of arrows forces him to divide his attention, and their leader is a deal more skilled, no mere hedge knight like the other two. A sworn sword without a doubt, practicing with others like him every day. In a fair fight, Jasper ought to prevail, but he is facing a man clad in mail on a warhorse while on foot, not to mention all the arrows that forces him to seek cover. One advantage he can negate though, as he grabs the man's swordarm and uses it to pull his foe down to the ground, too quickly the man is back up again, but that offers just enough of a respite to take his horse, wasn't that how brave Ser Robyn prevailed against these men? Doubtlessly the same group.
He does get away, of a sorts, but once the rush of the fighting subsides, he notices that there are too many arrows in him, a wetness down his back and thighs and a drowsiness takes him, he is jolted awake by hitting the ground, he did not remember falling off the horse. He tries to stand back up, but his strength fails him and he goes to sleep one final time.

Meanwhile, Laena is just grateful that it's not someone she cares about, for once (not that she's aware of OOC threads, but you know what I mean).

Around the time the Harrenhal stuff happens.
As in Jasper just healed up from his wounds and headed through Stoney Sept and skipping the politics at Harrenhal.

I'm sort of feeling like maybe it's a good idea to drop the downtime stuff in "staggered" fashion, putting focus on one thing first, then another.

It's amazing how much easier it is to play a true believer who never doubts their own perspective than someone more nuanced.
Ashara would have 100% been all about swaying the crowd towards innocence, and never thought twice about it. Davos on the other hand, had conflicting desires on the matter, so I felt that he did not have sufficient motivation to go against the Decadent charm effect. Of course, then I had to find a way to justify it from Davos' perspective, because he certainly wouldn't consciously decide on those grounds.

Easy solution: PC's band together. More involved solution: PC's have to find NPC's to join up with. I may not be a learned maester like you fancy city folk but it sure looks like Team Starwood, Team Starling, and sad sack Balon. Which makes 100% sense IC, btw. I'll wait to see what some Fire PCs say before we cross that bridge. On the subject of this, I'd love to see some surprises, reaching out across factions, etc - especially for those that see this as sport rather than as a proxy for the impending war, or those that desire to take a stand against Dornish prejudice (I believe this would be after Jasper Flowers but before Wenda & Arys). Obviously Balon and Davos won't be teaming up, but I'd be quite pleased to pair Davos up with some non-Dornish hating Fire folk if your character isn't too afraid of Oakheart and his cronies. Despite his affiliations and the prejudices of some, he is neutral on Fire vs Blood, and it could lead to some really interesting roleplay scenes.

So, I think I've finally got everything important from Phase 3 in my summary. Let me know *here*, not in that thread, if I've missed anything you feel worth including.

Tweaked the fire and blood stuff a little bit so that faction points won't disappear at the start of chronicle 2 (but their use during it will be limited to specific things you're directly involved in). Probably will also remove the "edge" thing and instead look at options to spend faction points during those events.

From the cutting room floor:
So, I spent a lot of time with Father trying to get this idea to work for the Peace Treaty event. Sadly, it won't, though I am currently exploring other ideas. Still, I thought I'd share the block of pseudo-legalese to add as a clause I came up with, since it entertained me.
'We, the aforesigned, reaffirm the long-standing noble right of āeksio hen pōja issaros and condemn in the strongest manner legally available those who have violated that right among those of noble blood, unless we the aforesigned choose to exercise an option to express to the present body affected, to their satisfaction, a change in norms and mores that would find such an act fall within the newly acceptable norms and mores as described. The decision as to which option to take to be privately conveyed to different members of the royal delegation, both in good standing, simultaneously, in order to avoid favouritism.'
Hopefully that's wonderfully opaque, but with a couple of careful readings, you can probably see what I was aiming for. (And yeah, the translation isn't exact, but hopefully you can get the gist of it, given the limitations of High Valyrian.)
