Any chance we can get a TLDR for those of us that don’t speak lawyer lol? The basic idea was to set up a 'prisoner's dilemma'-type situation. Basically, in the guise of protecting noble rights (because nobles love their rights), put Lords Blackwood and Bracken into a situation where they had to, independently, decide between (a) Pushing for punishment of Simon Tarly (and pissing off his father) or (b) Personally explaining to all the ladies present under exactly what circumstances it's now okay for them to be raped (said circumstances have to include the circumstances of Simon's actions). So, no really 'good' outcomes, but the 'least bad' option was if they both agreed to punish. But they wouldn't know what the other side would choose before they decided, and it could be that one lord or other could be convinced to 'bite' the massive chivalry hit of taking option (b) in order that their side didn't piss off Lord Tarly. But if they *both* tried to do that, then they'd both take massive chivalry hits, and be no better off than they were before.

I understood it wrong, then. I thought it was something like: "We agree based on the noble right of 'master [of these lands] by right of birth' that someone took someone elese's land and it should be given back, unless we decide otherwise. If we do decide to do otherwise, we will tell everyone at once."
I see now that the high valyrian is supposed to translate more as something like "master of one's own person", or slightly less formally "get your damn hands off of my body"

Though, the prisoner’s dilemma is much juicier, sad to see it was left on the cutting room floor.

Well, I haven't entirely given up on being able to introduce *some* kind of 'prisoner's dilemma', but it won't be that one. The whole 'placing people between the horns of a dilemma' thing really appeals to Laena, so if she can, she probably will.

Looks like you jinxed Daeron..... I’m the worst. Hopefully it’s just that all the good luck is concentrated with Balon! Plus commendable stuff from Wildfyre getting this far. Lots of ransoms, surely enough to sate even a Great Bastard temporarily.

I'll take all the good luck I can get. Aemon and Balon are similar enough it'll come down to the dice gods.
I've sacrificed a rabbit to appease them.

In this case, Roland should root for team Kingsbridge and hope for Balon's humiliation Unless he doesn't want to share the spotlight with anyone else from Starling lands.....proud and vainglorious as he is.

I am offended. Offended and shocked at these completely false claims against Balon's good character. Nothing but rumor and baseless accusations. Not a single witness has stepped forward with an account of these alledged misdeeds. Mostly because I rarely leave survivors.

Bloodraven adds dryly. "I should imagine the young lordling will require very little convincing to make such a tale perfectly true"Awww, he knows me so well

Yeah, honestly, the difficult persuasion test of that scenario is convincing your mother to not kill me....

Number of Dwarves punched. Wildfyre: 1 Balon: 0
Number of allied knights ambushed. Wildfyre: 1 Balon: 0
Number of knights that let the Hooded Man get away. Kingsbridge: 2 Balon: 0
Number of whores bedded while betrothed. Roland: 1 Balon: 0
I don't recall any other heinous things to compare. 😂
