At the sight of Balon, the boy lord shouts "Kill him! Bring me his head!" with all his lung's worth of strength, but his personal guard are all seasoned men, veterans who look to another to tell them what to do, and Ser Ulbert's voice is thunder. "Lock shields! Keep the line strong!" Having spotted the approaching danger long before the whelp, the Ironhand has already devised how to meet it, and neither he nor his men pay particular attention to what their impatient lord thinks they should do. R7-8 attacks vs Balon, Parmen: 4#5d6 20 20 22 15 4#5d6 10 12 18 212+1 damage vs Balon 0+2 damage vs Parmen Someone has had time to prepare. Battlefield conditions: -Maneuver may not move people in any direction (since there's bodies in the way). -It is not possible to position oneself in such a manner as to prevent any character involved from attacking you normally. -One can take a greater action to withdraw and end participation, each PC doing so, however, will grant +1 to all Blackwood morale tests and inflict -1 to all Bracken morale tests on the center that are triggered by hero actions. -There is no penalty for being felled or being taken captive (although there is a risk for Balon that they are in no mood for taking him prisoner). Prepared actions: Bodyguards (using cautious technique and fatigue to ignore AP if attacked) starts (on round 8) with assisting Ser Ulbert and Shield Other to protect him. Ser Ulbert has prepared a counterattack that will go off against whichever one of Parmen and Balon has the lowest CD, unless only one chooses to act before Ulbert does. In terms of iniative, Balon and Parmen "starts", if both chose to act before the NPC's, the above counterattack triggers, if one chooses to act and the other delay until after the NPC' the PC that takes action is attacked by it. Both chose to delay and NPC's acts normally. -No action is needed to move into position. Ulbert Blackwood: CD: 9 (15 from shield other) AR: 11 Health: 12 Wields a Mattock, squire at hand for assorted other weaponry (and a shield). Blackwood Knights: CD: 13 (16 from fatigue). AR: 10 Health: 12 Wields bastard swords and large shields.

Hmm, first things first, Parmen has the lowest CD, so he gets the hammer blow, then we'll see what more Ulbert&co does once all of the above is resolved with new information. Counterattack vs Parmen: 8d6k5+5 31That's 4*8-11=21 damage Ulbert Blackwood: CD: 9 (15 from shield other) AR: 11 Health: 12 Wields a Mattock, squire at hand for assorted other weaponry (and a shield). Blackwood Knights: CD: 13 (16 from fatigue). AR: 10 Health: 12 Wields bastard swords and large shields.

Counterattack vs Parmen: 8d6k5+5 31That's 4*8-11=21 damage Ouch! From the Heroes of the Valley Thread: A Touch of DestinyA destiny point spent normally to affect one of your tests applies in same fashion to all subsequent tests which you make during this event. A destiny point may alternatively be spent to gain the effects of a burnt destiny point on any one test you make or that was targeting you or your steed. Parmen spends 1DP to gain the effects of a burnt DP: Transform another character’s successful test into a failed test.
He directs the DP towards Ironhand's counterattack to avoid the hammer blow.

That calls for some..desperate measures, he's built to be the opposite of Otho (who has DP, probably wouldn't have spent them if not for all the DP's being thrown against him).
Ironhand spends a DP to cancel the DP to turn his attack into a miss. He then spends another to turn Parmen's attack into a miss
Spending fatigue to ignore AP may be a very wise move before these guys takes action.
Ulbert Blackwood: CD: 15 (9+6 from shield other). AR: 11 Health: 1/12 (Tough) Injuries: 1 Wields a Mattock, squire at hand for assorted other weaponry (and a shield).
Blackwood Knights: CD: 16 (13+3 for taking fatigue). AR: 10 Health: 12 Wields bastard swords and large shields.

[Phase 3] HotV, R9 - Maneuver vs. Ironhand, Fighting (Long Blades) + KD + DP: 8d6k7+1 32, 2 DoS, +5 Damage, -1D to all Ironhand's tests for one round.[Phase 3] HotV, R9 - Standard Attack vs. Ironhand, Fighting (Long Blades) + KD + DP: 8d6k6+1 30, 4 DoSDamage: 5 + (7x4) - 11 AR = 23 Damage to Ironhand. Will take Fatigue to ignore AR when attacked. Both Balon and Parmen crashed into Ironhand with a righteous fury that was rarely seen on the battlefield. However on this day the unlikely duo had met their match. Despite the savage slash by Balon, Ironhand withstood the blow and countered with a vicious swing of his Mattock that would have killed anyone in any other circumstance. Thankfully for Parmen the Seven watched over him and he managed to weather the blow and returned the favor with an equally deadly strike. Or so Balon thought. At the last second Ser Ulbert dodged the killing blow but opened up an opportunity for Balon to continue punishing him. With a flurry of swings that blurred the vision of lesser men Balon continued to hammer away on the Ironhand. ____________________________________________________________________________ CD: 14 (17) HP: 6/12 AR: 10 F/I/W: 1/0/0 Passive Fighting: 24 Spend 1 DP to convert 1b to 1D

Hold your horses, he hasn't taken his turn yet (need Parmen to declare injuries etc). Who hasn't taken their turn yet? Balon attacked. Parmen attacked. Ironhand Counterattacked. Goons Assisted and Shield Other.

No it's: Turn 0: Ironhand Counterattack (triggers on turn 1) Goons Assisted and Shield Other. Turn 1: Balon+Parmen attacked Ironhand+goons yet to act (needs Parmen to declare injuries etc).

That wasn't clear at all. All it said was prepared counterattack, not free attack then an entire round of NPC attacks. Never in a million years would we have Reckless attacked if that was the case. That's suicide.
