Having taken the seat and securing it the men were able to stitch wounds, splint bones, and rest. Those blessedly unencumbered with such shouldered the burden of guard duties, patrols, improving the defences and taking an inventory of what the Warriors Seat held and how much of it.
Mikel was one of those encumbered with wounds, most of which Otho had gifted to him. His left hip was pierced by the barbs of Othos weapon, and flesh pulped and bruised by its weight and the force of the blow. There was a deep cut on his forehead from Othos gauntleted fist and a smaller cut on the back of his head from whatever it bounced off of. The worst bruising seemed to wrap around his left side, from navel to nipple. While his breastplate had saved his life the force of the blow had resulted in a near constant pain simply for breathing. His right forearm had also been pierced but Otho could not claim that one.
Boiled wine, stitches, milk of the poppy and rest - with Davos's approval - saw Mikel loosing the first few days after their victory to a deep and restorative sleep. When he finally woke Harold was soon at hand helping him to wash, dress, and eat.
Finally Mikel made his way at an incredibly slow pace to the small solar of the keep and sat down in a comfortable looking chair with a stool near enough to rest his feet upon. Harold leaned his sword against the chair as Mikel asked before leaving to fetch refreshment.
Mikel waited patiently for Davos to see if he could be of service - adamantly hoping not - and to see Robyn so that he knew how the young man fared.

Robyn was bandaged and bloody for the first few days after victory was claimed. After the adrenaline finally fizzled out of his system Robyn realized how much pain he was truly in, and how the fight was a lot longer and intense than anything Davos saw. He and Mikel barely knocked the gate down, and survived that encounter by the skin of their teeth, before being promptly thrown at Otho Bracken, which, despite the injury of his left shoulder, Mikel took the brunt of. They were alive, but barely. Shortly after being allowed to wander outside of his bed, Robyn went exploring. He had to know as much as he could about this fortress, he did sack it after all. No part was left unnoticed, every nook and cranny was laid out before him. He carried his longsword on him, for defense, and his ball and chain in the other, for show. He wanted others to recognize him, to realize who he was and where he was during the fighting. Walking into a new location, he spotted Mikel, resting in a chair. He beamed widely as he spoke, teasing Mikel as he walked towards him, scooping up a chair of his own to place near his friend, "I was beginning to wonder if your legs had stopped working after how long you spent in bed," He let out a short laugh, "Glad to see youve worked your way up to sitting,"

Mikel smiled to see Robyn, and laughed in good humor at his teasing. "My legs are fine, its everything else thats giving me trouble." Funny and honest. If only a beautiful woman had been nearby to impress. "How do you fare, and what have I missed?"
Mikel wondered most about their position. Was relief coming or were they expecting a counter attack?

Robyn let out a sigh and rubbed his shoulder, "My left arm is still killing me, but the Maester said it should heal nicely, as long as I dont use it for a few days," He relaxed deeper into the chair, leaning back as he stared up at the ceiling, "Other than recovering, I am doing well. I took awhile to look around the place, and it is certainly quite the fortress. Riders were sent to the Battle Valley to gather more men to garrison here, but I havent been in that loop," he let out a chuckle as he looked at Mikel, "How about you? How does the Bravest Man in the Taking of Warrior's Seat fare?" He was genuine in saying the title, he meant it.

He nodded at the mention of a garrison being expected, good and timely news. Robyns compliment was warmly received and returned, "If I had not had such able men with me I may not have been. Everyone scaling the wall was worthy of admiration, then you went and took on the brute. Thats quite a nights work."
Mikel spent time asking about the site. Its layout, what was within it, the defenses and how the men were arrayed. Once his curiousity was satisfied he sought news of the bigger picture.
"Has there been word of the campaign at large and how it progresses?"

"No word yet. Soon, I hope."
Davos answers as he walks into the room. The days since the battle had clearly not been kind to him - his face haggard, his hair slightly unkempt, and weariness evident in his eyes. He sinks into one of the comfortable chairs, his eyes fluttering shut. He seems to have fallen asleep, but a few deep breaths later he forces his eyes open again.
"Good to see you both up. How fare your recoveries?"

"A good beginning, and I am thankful for it. I was concerned that a counter attack would reach us before reinforcements, But now even if that should be the case at least we've had some rest." Mikel studied Davos a moment before adding. "Or at least I have. Is there anything I can do to ease your burden?" It was a genuine offer, but being thickly wrapped by bandaging in three different places plus the stitching above his eye probably made him an unlikely candidate for any meaningful help.

Robyn chuckled at Mikel, gesturing to his injuries, "Well, by the looks of our faces, i think you took the brunt of the Brute, I got only a bit of him."
As the next question is asked, he began to open his mouth to respond before turning to look at his uncle, not quite as dashing as he typically looked. He stood for a moment, as a showing of respect, but he held the back of his chair as his body tried to topple back down shortly after he stood.
He flopped back down in his chair, letting out a small groan as he rubbed his neck, "I fare better than the Brackens do, that's for sure. Though, no where near how i would fare if I was in the Reach instead of the Riverlands," he gave a soft laugh once more as he smiled, "And what about you Commander? You been able to control this lot while we have been resting?"

"Ease my burden?"
Davos smiles weakly.
"No, not unless you can turn back time or magically transform hard men into genteel little lordlings."
He sighs.
"The men fought hard, and many nearly died. Most lost a friend or more. It is no surprse that some would want to vent their feelings with pillage and rape, but I cannot allow that. At least I have not had to have any of them gelded."
...yet? he mentally appends. He cannot help but think of his failure to protect the two Bracken girls, and of Simon Tarly escaping proper justice.
"Between that and the routine drudgery of running a castle - without a proper staff of servants - I have not had much time for sleep..."
He trails off a moment, then sighs.
"...and when I do it is hardly restful."
His mind is filled briefly with the recurring visions that have been plaguing his dreams, and he turns his gaze down to his hands, examining them front and back as if half expecting to find them coated in red.
"Since Aria and our child..." he pauses. "I killed seventeen men in the battle with my own hands. Countless more died by my orders, and many of our own men fell because I ordered them into harms way. I have no idea how many dozens of orphans and widows I created just in this one battle. With all that came before?"
He smiles wryly.
"I do what I must, and I am good at at. I take no joy in it, however."

Mikel wondered if he had chosen his words poorly or if the demands of leadership and the battle had left him more distressed then Mikel had been aware of. A few nights of milk of the poppy and he hadnt been aware of hardly anything, truth be told.
"We were lucky you commanded us. And though the enemy wasnt during the battle, they have been since it." Most would have put the garrison to the sword, especially after such a fight. The prisoners had to know they were lucky to be alive.
Mikel absent mindedly rubbed at his face as he considered some way to be of service. "I can refrain from the milk until we are back at Blackwood camp. Allow me to take control of the duty billets until then? And perhaps Robyn could lend his mind - which is more keen then my own - to tracking the welfare of the men and our supplies?" He looked to Robyn to see if he supported the notion and then back to Davos for his answer. It wasnt much help, not against a life of such hardships, but right now it was something.

Davos smiles, warmly and genuinely.
"I appreciate the sentiment, and that you are willing to disrupt your recovery to help me."
He shakes his head.
"No, your recovery is more important than my peace of mind. You have your pains and I have mine, and we will both survive them."
He pulls a flask of strongwine out of a pocket and takes a swig, then tosses it to Robyn.
"Come, let us talk of more pleasant things. Have you a plan to tame that beast of a horse?"

Robyn stopped smiling and laughing as Davos began, and instead looked down at his own hands as his uncle's words sunk in. 10 Men. Robyn had seen to the end to 10 men, and he hadnt really thought about it; almost like it slipped his mind. On the pursuit of glory, hungering for renown, he was willing to do anything to get it.
But now he was starting to realize that the hunt for fame made some seen, and others never to be seen again.
Mikel saying his name snapped his attention back into reality, as he looked once at him and then back to his uncle, giving a nod, "Of course, anything I can do to help-," He stopped as Davos spoke, giving a gentle smile back at him as he drank, before bringing up his hands to catch the flask.
He looked down at it and shrugged his shoulders, letting loose a chuckle, "Oh that beast and I are going to have some very interesting lessons, thats for sure," He took a drink and wiped his mouth, offering it back and forth between Davos or Mikel, "Its a horse fit for that brute, and has a similar temperament and eagerness to see me dead, but I wager that by the time we head back to Starkwood it will be as cordial to me as cousin Laena is," he gave another smile and a laugh, "That is to say, with a lingering sense of danger underneath the guise of familiarity,"
He smiled wide before blushing slightly, "Though, if im honest, the horse is not what I wished I was mounting as I recovered in bed,"

Mikel smiled, silently thankful to be allowed to focus on recovering but also knowing exactly what Robyn meant and wondering if he could manage the same without busting the stitches. He caught the flask Robyn tossed him and had a drink before saying, "Anyone will do, or one have your eye? Some surprising attractive women have kept around the blackwood camp."
Noncombatants following combatants was nothing new. The Blackwood camps had not only sprung up men for the fighting, but also men and women for any possible requirement or desire. Especially the desire. But if the whores werent what Robyn meant, and he suspected they were not, there were plenty of other women who might be charmed instead of paid for a similar experience.

Robyn shrugged his shoulders, giving a cheeky grin, "Kept around is only one step away from passed around, and while I do not judge any woman or her decisions in... financial pursuits, the thought of sharing a woman with Simon Tarly makes my trousers itch," He shuddered slightly, adjusting in his seat, "Besides, they lack the relentless beauty that has caught my eye. Though," He frowned, "Her eye has hardly given me a passing glance,"
Robyn sighed, reaching into his tunic's front to pull out a letter he wrote, "I wrote this shortly after being left in the recovery bed. Its for the only woman who has ever given me heart palpitations... Lady Falyse," his face lit up as he spoke her name, the soft smile filled with the hope and joy that comes from everyone's first love. "I would sack 100 Warrior's Seats if it meant she would fall for me as hard as I have for her,"

Mikel made a face which showed his feelings of Simon Tarly when his name was mentioned. It had been tempting to pursue him after he had left the Blackwood camp but it would not have been smart to do.
Another expression came over him at the mention of Lady Falyse, a softer expression with a touch of humor in it. "Lets hope that wont be required, I barely made it through the first one." Mikel jested in response to taking more Warrior Seats. "I did have the fortune of meeting with her, twice I believe. I have a good impression of her, and had found her interesting."
Mikel had briefly and to no effect pursued her, in a very courtly way, and imagined Robyn had heard of it. The woman had certainly changed - as anyone would - after the recent ambush that she and Robyn had survived. "I believe she will prove able in navigating the time and circumstance she has been thrust into."
And as an after thought added, "But I do hope that Tarly fuck falls off his horse and dies."
