"Hmmm." Laena purses her lips in thought again. "I confess, again, I know little and less - aside from that my young hero of a cousin" it's unclear how serious her description is "is besotted with Lady Falyse, and that Ser Guyard is a typical self-serving knight. As far as I can tell, the lady is too young to likely be competent, and the knight is too selfish to likely even try and rule well.
"Have you a preference, then, as to which poison House Blackbar shall swallow?"

AddamLord Willem has a habit of attending as many as he possibly could and desiring his best knight with him to bring glory to his house, leaving Kingsbridge in the hands of Maester Marlon, which mostly is what Lord Willem does even when not away from home, at one of those, Lord Gormon approaches him, with apparent intent of persuading Addam to rise to the challenge posed by Ser Loren Lannister over Delia Hewett's hand, no house should be surrendered by the Blackfyre cause without resistance.

All Addam could do was laugh at the notion that Ser Loren posed any challenge to Delia's hand. "Gormy, the kitten of Lannister is only in consideration because I allow him to be. All I need to do is ask for her hand and Lord Glendon would grant it, and I would have done so already if I thought House Hewett would serve any use to the cause. Glendon Hewett doesn't care who sits the Iron Throne so long as he can kill some Ironborn raiders. Besides, the cause would be better served if I was involved where the conflict actually matter. Perhaps your son Randyll would be a better fit for the task. I could always make the introduction if you need me too."

Laena
"I wasn't very old when trust into the responsibilities of lordship, save for that part about an heir, I do think I turned out just fine" Marq quips. Though he sidesteps the part where he had been groomed for it. "I would think that if lady Falyse can rise to overcome the challenge of the twin prejudices caused by her teats being distractive and her skin being of a seductive olive hue that drives the men of The Reach to a craze, not to mention overcoming her most recent ordeals, she ought not to be underestimated." It seems that on this subject, Marq is again wearing a mask making it difficult to tell if his interest in this is just to play a game for his personal amusement or if he has an informed opinion or an agenda that would appear sensible to a simple lord. "Maybe I just have a soft spot for young ladies, but I think The Reach would be a better place if someone like Lady Falyse is given the chance to prove herself. At least it would be fun to see Lord Walgrave's face should she be praised in his presence. Ser Guyard is just a boring knight that knows how to carry out Hightower commands, mostly faithful to their spirit as well as letter, and then fill out a ledger recording how he did it. Omitting such bribes as he helped himself to, of course."
"In other words, a boring man, and I seem to recall that my lady had little love for those."

Addam
All of Whitewalls heard the kitten roar and that was quite an impressive sound, Gormon notes. While he could consider that match for Ser Randyll, arrangements have already been made with Red Lake, Lord Crane is a deal more important to bind to their cause through alliances and, he hesitates before saying other favors, it is no great secret that the pennypincher's loyalty is being bought with gold.
And while a knight can make a difference in the thick of things, Gormon admits, a lord can make a greater difference when it counts. Gormon says nothing about the exceptions, like Redtusk and Aubrey Ambrose, it probably does not occur to him to compare Addam with those.

Laena's face collapses into a frown when Marq describes Ser Guyard as 'just a boring knight'. Though after a moment's consideration when Marq has finished speaking, her face morphs into a mock pout. "Oh, don't tell me things like that. Descriptions like that make me want to publicly tear into the man. And that would make me a whole lot more enemies than just the boring knight. Not to mention, I'd have to hide behind some man to handle the consequences for me, and that never sits well with me." Her expression and tone are more serious at the end, but afterward, her face returns to an amiable smile. "Still, consider me sold on supporting the Lady at least. Publicly, even. "I am not so bold as to claim it would make the Reach a *better* place," a quick smirk, "but it at least may make it less boring."

Surely, Laena might find a man to do the tearing? She would still "hide behind him" as it were, but the enemies would then be his. Or perhaps, for a particular breed of devious, goad Ser Guyard into saying something very stupid, surely there are able knights eager to defend the honor of a lady, even those not particularly inclined to support her candidacy otherwise.

Laena's face turns thoughtful, and she lets the conversation hang for a few moments as a rough plan slowly forms in her head. Eventually, she nods thoughtfully, a small, eager smile slowly forming. "I think you've given me an idea to work with. It may succeed, it may backfire spectacularly." her smile widens. "But a plan with no risk is just boring.
"Alright! I'm going to go and figure out the details of my plan - the whos, hows, whys, and so on." She smirks, and leans forwards, hands behind her back. "If it works out, expect interesting developments."

If it isn't interesting, Marq would be disappointed. However, lay enough schemes and some will go wrong, Marq would think it inadvisable to make such plans as might go spectacularly wrong should they fail. Better he thinks, to ensure that one can always recover quickly from any setbacks as might occur. More of a challenge of course, but those who gamble it all on one great scheme after another, each supposed to make their fortunes will tend to be rewarded by increasing desperation, they must now win even more than they last failed to do. Where they rolling at the dice tables, they would soon find themselves enslaved by the Iron Bank.

She gives a soft smile. "Aww. You're worried about me! Don't be. Remember who you're speaking to. If my part in the plan is seen through, I already have an escape planned with minimal issues. No, if it backfires, it's Lady Falyse who's liable to end up with the debtor's note." She shrugs. "So, I'll do my best to ensure that doesn't happen."

So Marq should be concerned for her well being, then?
At some other time, at a masquerade ball hosted by Lord Fossoway, the shadowcat might expect that dressing as provocatively as she did would be attracting a certain sort of attention, this time the Lizard-Lion, a young knight, golden locks and a strong square jaw makes makes him rather handsome, nothing to complain about as for his physique either. It may just be the wine talking, but
Lascivious has been satisfied, so it shouldn't apply here unless Laena allows herself to be dragged into intrigue (where it will give him +1D), seeing that Laena did go for a little daring with the outfit, this does happen. She could try and brave a little more risk to make this guy do or believe something that would serve her purposes.

So Marq should be concerned for her well being, then? "Well, that depends. Is your interest in supporting her political or personal?" Her smile says she does not expect a straight answer, but she couldn't not at least try. It may just be the wine talking, but Maybe it was just because she had Maegelle in her mind with her, but a young knight with golden locks had her mind immediately thinking of Lord Quentin, so her eyes went to his jaw to see if she could see sign of the mark Ser Robyn had left. [I'm not sure if I still get the +1D, as in the other thread, so I rolled that separately] Many Meetings - Free Peek - Cunning (Memory) - TN12: 5d6k4 13 1 DoS +1B Many Meetings - Free Peek - Cunning (Memory) Extra die: 1d6 4 Would take me to 17 and 2 DoS +1D Many Meetings - Free Peek - Awareness (Notice) +1B: 6d6k4 16 if I don't have the +1D bonus Many Meetings - Free Peek - Awareness (Notice) - Extra Die: 1d6 2 So, with that extra die (and keeping an additional one), that takes me to 20 if I get the +1D bonus.

Free Peek is only if she gives in to his advances, although if she takes the action first and then decide to go along with it after a success, she gets it for free.
No +1D in this case, that was granted because Alicent would be expected to react to the slanderings. Blond knights attracted to her neckline could be anyone.

Marq suspect that it is a little bit of both, he has his soft spots, and so many things he would like to accomplish. Too many things to manage fully in the shadows, but who doesn't like a challenge?
At the ball, the hopeful young knight is nowhere near as intriguing a prospect as Lord Quentin might be, no. Laena can't quite place him, whether it's the drink or the man's obscurity, Lyonel Cuy, or maybe Leo Costayne? A cousin of one of those houses. He received accolades for his good performance at the lists against Ser Addam, though he was defeated after a respectable number of broken lances, displaying the pride and high confidence of a youth yet to suffer his first fall. A potential useful patsy for one scheme or the other, if Laena has one in mind.

"Then, regardless of what I do, you should be concerned for her well-being. The last half-Dornish person to win power didn't enjoy it for long." Referring to the short reign of Lord Desmond Bridges. "Though losing would likely be just as dangerous in its own way. "So long as her death could sway the loyalties of the house, she is not safe. "The sooner she rules, and the sooner she can *secure* her rule, the safer she'll be. So, what I propose is a *managed* risk." She purses her lips as a thought occurs to her. "If she succeeds, she'll likely need some help ensuring she doesn't follow in Lord Desmond's footsteps. If you put her in that seat, then just leave her to fend for herself, you likely won't be doing her any favours." Will resume this talk when I have an idea.]
