The real football, not sissy rugby.
I've got my evening entertainment sorted for the next month at least.
The only prediction I'll serve up is that England will be savaged by British public opinion, even if they get into the quarterfinals (Hard to see them facing someone else than Germany or Brazil there, and that probably means exit, and since the expectations are (again) that they'll win this thing...).
Also most FIFA bigwigs would be right at home in a Westerosi court.

From what i have seen, generally if we manage to make it out of the group stage, that's a big improvement on recent tournaments

I think England should get out of the group easily, its a soft group, and England is a solid team with all positions covered! Englands problem is that with the premier league bias, and the english media, regardless of how well they do, they will dissapoint some oundits! My bet would be a Brazil victory, but either way, im really exited!

SISSY RUGBY?!?!?!?!
I would love to see one of your grass fairies get his balls sown back up on the field and keep play. Talk to me next October when the real World Cup is going on. (Lol all in good fun)

I don't watch sportsball of any variety... but yeah, take the pads away from the NFL and see how many linebackers last a season. They don't even know how to keep their heads out of the way to prevent concussions (concussion rates in junior leagues went up after helmets were mandated... to prevent concussions).

Came for American football, left horrendously disappointed.

I love both, being a big lad I was much better at american football, but had to give it up because injuries prevented me from doing other things! For me it is something special with "soccer" you just can't discuss american football the same way... I think the Cleese himself explains it best😁😁: youtu.be/Tqge3m_QuHY

Came for American football, left horrendously disappointed. Hmmm, which NPC was scheduled to be brutally murdered in the prologue? Ooops, his name was switched out for one Ser Balon Brackbriar, hopefully that doesn't inconvenience anyone too much

What can you expect when the world cup is in Russia?

Not a particularly violent football fan, no. Not violent at all.
Some of my NPC's on the other hand are plenty violent. Though they prefer jousting and melee's.

The irony of this is the other day Facebook showed me one of my old posts where I was trashing the English press because they were criticising the rhetoric of American politics while simultaneously talking about gassing a rioting soccer fans BEFORE the game started.
Good luck I guess? Don't trust Russia.

I don't live in either the US or the UK (and both countries have horrible politicians with horrible rhetorics, arguably the US have the worst by a wide margin, our politicians are much less horrible, yet pretty much none of them are people I would want running my country).
Also, in the absence of our crappy national side (though much improved now after we sacked the inept manager and finally hired someone that is competent rather than someone being good buddies with the bigwigs in the FA), I'm rooting for Iceland. They have like 1% chance of winning the whole thing according to some smart Belgian and German data analysts that ran 10000 simulations. Looks like I'll get 251 times the stakes back if I put money on it...hmmm.

Ah yes! Sports! We too have this on my plan...er...city of origin! I particularly enjoy the part where the ball is thrown and/or kicked!
