I appreciate football, even played some growing up, but I just can't watch a sport where half the time players are whimpering and writhing on the ground because someone flicked their ear, and the other half the time the game is rigged by the governing board (FIFA).

Yesterday Portugal dodged a bullet, today it was Argentina. Iran and Iceland to the final 16 at their expense would be something.
Tomorrow Brazil and Germany is on the chopping block, though I think their odds looks better than those of Portugal and Argentina did prior to their matches.

I just hope one of the bigs bites the dust. So far the favorites played mostly bad but everybody qualified for the knock-out stages...

Heathens... Football is tactics and passion in perfect blend! The beautiful game!
I would guess most big teams will go through, but teams like Croatia and russia looks to be potential dark horses... And with Denmark qualifying I have found a new nordic team to support!

Well, Spain didn't manage to defeat a Morocco side with nothing to loose. They even where one down during the match, when loosing it would be a risky proposition.
However, Russia couldn't handle a team of Uruguay's quality, even before the red card.

From my more knowledgeable colleague, Croatia has a really good team. But, from my time with a bunch of Germans bonding over beer and sports, I'm voting for them!

Yeah, Germany won the last one! thrashed Brazil 7-1 along the way too! Croatia isn't a top team, but in football the ball is round... You can't know which direction it will roll;)

Sad sortie by the Germans, frankly they didn't deserve better.
Way to go for Sweden!

Well, the swiss have impressed this far, rock solid defencively against brazil, and you showed real tenacity against Serbia! I think you will be able to give as much as you get against Sweden!

If Ronaldo had better players around him than Portugal has (Like Germany), he might have had a shot at greatest ever status. And if Messi had played on a team where they managed to get all the players to actually work together (Like Germany, well not this year), then he might have had a shot at greatest ever status. Personally I'd go for Zidane of the players I've seen in action live on TV, though probably Cruyff or Maradona if going back. Most of Pele's myth comes from scoring a crapton of goals for Santos and being on the winning world cup team thrice. I'm pretty sure both Messi and Ronaldo would have outdone his scoring record if they had played in Brazilian football their whole careers, and there were more goals scored in Pele's time anyway.
Both are way too good to deserve their national teams around them. Oh, well, the better teams won today.
