While no great lord would care to plan for a grand spectacle so soon after Lord Tyrell's tourney, this is the Reach, and there is never a moon's turn without at least one joust being held somewhere.
Participation: Any knight may partake, anyone else can always enter as a mystery knight.
Challenge:
To represent your most successful (or memorable) jousting experience in the early months after the Black Tourney, make a succession of Animal Handling (Ride) and Fighting (Lances) tests, do not apply any bonuses from techniques or animal handling rank, success on both tests grants a ransom as noted and you proceed to the next TN, on a critical failure on either test you are defeated and must pay ransom, on a simple failure on either test you will have to proceed the hard way by observing the full jousting rules for that match and all the following.
You gain the bonus from tourney knight to both tests, superior mount grants +1 to the Ride test.
Round 1: TN 12, 1200SS
Round 2: TN 15, 2000SS
Round 3: TN 18, 3500SS
Semi-Final: TN 21, 5000SS
Final: Always a full joust.
Full jousting matches will have their own threads, as is customary. Players are encouraged to run NPC opponents for other PC's
Winning the final grants +1 glory, +1 chivalry and +1 coffers in the victor's purse.
Throw down the gauntlet:
One may seek to challenge specific NPC's as part of this event whenever you would test for round 1, 2 or 3. Doing so is treated as an automatic result of simple failure on the tests, proceeding with the match sought, then with full jousting matches until the final. Note that knights of lesser ability may have been knocked out by the time of later rounds.
Dirty tricks.
Prior to making the tests for a round, you may test Deception (Cheat) TN 12, gaining +1 on your tests per DoS. Critical failure leads to discovery and assorted consequences. If you use cheating and do not beat the challenge TN's, you must cheat in the resulting jousting match.
You may use Persuasion (Bargain) against TN 12, gaining +2 to each test for a number of rounds equal to your DoS, but for each round that is so "fixed", you must pay 1GD and half of any ransoms won in bribes.
Favors and Queens of Love and Beauty.
PC victors will typically be granted a list of possible candidates that might catch their fancy for whose favor to wear or crown as Queen of Love and Beauty.
For the ladies
A lady may attempt to have their favor sought and perhaps to be named Queen of Love and Beauty. They may make the following tests:
Optional:
Awareness (Empathy) TN 12
Cunning (Logic) TN 12
Each two DoS granting +1 on the other two tests (critical failure is -3).
Required:
Persuasion (Charm)+Virtue TN X
Status (Reputation)+Virtue TN X
Attractive grants +1D.
The TN may take one of the following values:
9-A knight of little renown.
12-A Lord/Heir of unremarkable prowess (Such as Armond Caswell), or a knight of quality (Such as Flement Redwyne).
15-A Lord/Heir of distinguished prowess (such as Benjen Willum, Alekyne Tarly), or a knight of considerable ability (Such as Imry Levalle or Horas Redwyne) .
18-A Lord/Heir of considerable prowess (such as Preston Oakheart, Aemon Flowers), or a knight of superior ability (Roland Cordwayner, Sebaston Rowan)
21-A Favorite of the field and crowd. (Such as Marq Durwell, Redtusk)
Their knight of choice will then partake in this event. If they win wearing her favor and crowns her, she gains +1 influence and +1 virtue.
PC riding for a PC.
A PC knight partaking in this event can ride for a PC lady (foregoing her tests for the event), must be declared before any rolls are made.
Other tourneys.
Players are free to engage in any other minor tourney event as they please, against each other or NPC's (can only kill/maim NPC's if they have not been mentioned in the cast of thousands list), joust, melee or other formats are available. The narrator will take only a minimal role in such things, and no rewards of any kind will be granted.
