Many a heated argument have been heard on the road back to Kingsbridge, Lord Starling dreams of a glorious tourney in his daughter's honor, the bigger, the better. Would it not be wonderful with a grand spectacle with the hand of the most beautiful maid of all the seven kingdoms as the prize? A tourney to be remembered in songs for hundreds of years. Lady Lysette is very much opposed to the idea, she must live with her husband for the rest of her life, and there are foul men such as Ser Simon Tarly that nevertheless are skilled at the list. Does Lord Willem really want to risk such a Blackguard to be the caretaker of his legacy? Such words appease him for a time, a day, maybe two. The maester's arguments of what the wealth of the house can support (which is not much) have less an effect. The septa agrees with Lysette. But Lord Willem is stubborn and proud and so he seeks the counsel of others in the hope that he might find that at least his sworn swords would agree with him.
Restrictions: Starling PC's only.
The argument:
Pick one of the following scenarios to support:
1. Host a tourney with Lysette's hand as the prize.
2. Let Lysette marry Aemon.
3. Someone not Aemon should be given consideration.
For options 2 and 3, there will still be a tourney to be held at the wedding (Lord Willem is clear on that), but it can either be minor or major (a tourney for her hand will be major), the rub being that the house doesn't have the resources to host a major tourney without incurring considerably heavier costs than it can bear. A minor tourney will be painful enough, but something it can deal with, and Willem is not about to see his daughter wed without a tourney involved.
The Debate:
Simple intrigue (Convince)+Chivalry test, starting at TN 14, you may make as many additional tests as you like at a cumulative +3 to the TN. The first test should be marked with which option you go for and whether a minor or a major tournament (for those agitating for #1, this matters if #2 or #3 are chosen). Each DoS scored counts as a vote for the chosen option (and major vs minor).
Critical failure counts as -3 DoS
Modifiers/Consequences (All stack):
-Marei grants +2 assistance bonus to arguments in favor of Lysette marrying Aemon and holding a minor tourney.
-Marlon grants +2 assistance bonus to arguments in favor of holding a minor tourney.
-Arguing for a major tourney: -2 Disposition with Lysette, Marei and Marlon
-Arguing for a tourney for Lysette's hand: -3 Disposition with Lysette and Marei
Benefit/Drawback considerations:
-Great Bastard: Gain +1D if arguing for #3 and specifically someone publicly affiliated with that side (Redtusk is the frontrunner for Fire, Sebaston Rowan for Blood, Aemon seems rather flexible, can suggests others, possibly oneself).
-Vainglorious: Triggers twice, once to force #1 (however, for characters wed or promised to someone else, it applies to force #2 or #3 so that one might partake), second to force a vote for major.
-Avaricious: Triggers to seek compensation from the houses involved (Rowan, Florent or Redwyne) to support their "suitor" and then go through with the corresponding choice (only if vainglorious does not force a conflicting choice).
