"But then you would be far too occupied in bed, and since men only can do one thing at a time, there would be so much work you'd need me to take off your hands. Anyhow, I will bet you a silver stag that our very dear Lord Nuncle will still be contemplating the matter when you return." Delia grins mischievously "And then I'll offer you a double or nothing on him having yet to decide by the time war breaks out" A slave to consensus, Jon was not likely to consent to a marriage unless both Erena and Shiera supported, or at least neither spoke out against it. Erena was like to object if she as much as suspected that it would strengthen Shiera's side of their constant arguments, and Shiera usually had her own opinion.
"Have you even asked yourself why she might be interested in you?" Shiera ignores Delia's comments. "I already met her, actually, and nothing suggests she is a better option than what you might aim for, Delia will go and form an opinion of her." "He can aim for something better than a well worn bastard?...I will what?" Delia is as surprised at that task. "There is nothing wrong with your hearing, girl" "But, why?" "Because I'm a foul old wretch in her eyes, and you look and act like a child so she might underestimate you" "Maybe because you *are* a foul old wretch?" "Old enough to plausibly claim that my hearing sometimes plays tricks on me."

"... Balon gave his sister a wink, "You know I only gamble with my life." After losing 500 silver stags earlier in the tournament gambling with other knights he'd decided games of chance were not for him. "But I'll bet you I'm married to Lady Laena *before* I leave and double or nothing you'll be an aunt before the year is done." "Have you even asked yourself why she might be interested in you?" Shiera ignores Delia's comments. "I already met her, actually, and nothing suggests she is a better option than what you might aim for, Delia will go and form an opinion of her.""He can aim for something better than a well worn bastard?...I will what?" Delia is as surprised at that task. "There is nothing wrong with your hearing, girl""But, why?""Because I'm a foul old wretch in her eyes, and you look and act like a child so she might underestimate you""Maybe because you *are* a foul old wretch?""Old enough to plausibly claim that my hearing sometimes plays tricks on me." When Shiera told Delia to meet with Laena Balon was appreciative, "Thank you." It wasn't the outcome he'd wished for but he knew his mother would be the most difficult to convince and that's why he'd spoken to her first. Tomorrow he'd speak with Donnel before the Grand Melee and Lady Erena when she was available. With Delia meeting Laena we can call it a scene or move to D11 and Balon can have a word with Lady Erena.
