Mikel of Harroway CD: 10 (Large Shield) AR: 9 (Fitted Half-Plate, AP 4) Movement: 3 yards after Bulk (4) Health: 12 8d6k5+1, 5 damage (Superior Long Sword) [D10] A battered Knight - Initivative: 3d6-4 1
Once Mikel finished putting on his armor with Harold's help they made their way to the dueling ground. Once understanding the line up he watched what he could until he felt it was time to begin warming himself. With the help of his squire and a few members of House Starkwood who had no current obligations he mixed drilling lightly with short bouts of intensity. When the duel before his was called Harold gave him a final once over while he worked to focus his mind on his bout. Soon he took to the field and studied Ser Simon. How he moved - might he still be drunk or perhaps hung over? Did he have a limp or seem to move with some impairment or restriction? Mikel thought for a moment of how sweet it would be if the man was still drunk and still hurt from his match with Ser Titus. Then he realized that his subconscious study had turned to conscious thought, and immediately after that realized the fight had already just begun.
[OOC: Just realized I had this posted in the pavilions, so moved it]

Ser Simon had ripped Mikel from his thoughts in brutal fashion but as bad as it began for Mikel he responded instantly and closed what little distance there was between them and threw himself into Ser Simon while tripping him. As Ser Simon crashed to the ground Mikel kept his own feet and struck downward into Ser Simon - dropping his weight into the thrust. [OOC: If Sir Simon attempts to knock down Mikel, Mikel will use a point of fatigue to ignore AP until the start of his next turn]

Ser Simon tries to kick Mikel's legs out from under him, but fails. His return strike is not as troubling as the first blow.

Ser Simon managed to knock Mikel off his feet and onto the point of his sword where everybody watching could easily see Mikel writhe away from as he widely swung his sword in a hurried and nearly ineffective retaliation and which somehow managed to connect, but just barely.

Already leaking blood into the earth and burning in at least two places Mikel saw Simon lift his sword to be better prepared to protect himself and propelled toward him as best he could by digging his toes into the dirt and launching himself forward, though he failed to find purchase and slide no more then a few inches closer as he thrust the point of his sword towards a small opening on the under arm of Ser Simon. As Mikel flopped back into the earth he was already digging his feet in for his next attempt.

Simon keeps up his disciplined approach, but straining himself now, he cannot hold on much longer, but surely his opponent cannot keep this up much longer?

This time when the blade bit into him he seemed to crumple into himself. The foot which had been digging into the earth for purchase slipped and he remained still for a breath. Suddenly he burst into motion and rolled away from Simon pushing himself to his feet but as he did so a leg failed him and he slipped back down to one knee. His eyes were fixed on Simon, one thrust and he's done, Mikel though to himself.
He tried to push himself up but didn't move. After a deep breath he tried again and finally made it to his feet. He saw Simon watching him and knew what he must look like, and suddenly he felt what he must look like. Mikel shook his head and lowered the point of his sword towards the earth.
"I should not have belittled your ability, Ser." The next words stuck in his throat and Mikel narrowed his eyes and hunched forward just slightly, preparing to push back into the fight. This is already, whether you kill him or not. Simon had not pressed during the eternity it took for Mikel to get away and to his feet, and he most definitely could have. "I yield."

Ser Simon simply grunts, satisfied with his victory but limping off the field, himself exhausted and clearly having taken some serious knocks. The crowds claps politely, with cheers scattered, most of the men knows that this could have ended in tragedy if one of the pair did not yield soon, and most of the ladies sensed as much by the reactions of their husbands.
