Lord Fossoway, ever the connoisseur of fine horseflesh have lent Lord Tyrell his expert master of horse to set up a special treat
Qualification: In order to take part, one must make the cut among all who wishes to show their ability with horses. Thus a Status(Reputation)+Chivalry TN 15 is required to secure a favored spot, gaining +1D on all tests, critically failing means you must wait so long that the prizes and attentions will already have been handed out.
A character may instead of partaking himself, sponsor a talented individual. Ladies may also act as sponsors (but only men may compete, women can circumvent this with a Deception(Disguise) TN 12 if they can acquire a sponsor). Sponsoring more than one character, or sponsoring while taking part yourself, requires a separate test for each entrant, and imposing -1b (as training penalty) on each. It may be possible to secure an NPC as your sponsor. One must chose before testing whether to be sponsored or not.
Challenge: Animal Handling (Charm) TN 15 Animal Handling (Train) TN 15 Animal Handling (Ride) TN 15
A critical failure will disqualify you from receiving any rewards, and inflict -1 influence.
Success on each test: +1 glory, and will be gifted a superior Palfrey, Courser or Destrier from the Fossoway stables at Lord Tyrell's expense. Highest number of DoS total: +1 glory.
Any character gaining at least 3 DoS will have a standing invitation to visit Cider Hall.
Special: -Sponsored characters do not receive horses, and only receive glory for the highest total DoS, the sponsor instead gains the horse and +1 influence if you succeed on all three tests. If an NPC from the same house sponsors a PC, the horse will be granted to the PC unless there are compelling reasons to do otherwise. -A character with the sponsor benefit will be gifted the horse if applicable and will gain the point of influence to his own house, but with full control over it's use. -A point of influence or glory may be spent to automatically succeed the status test. -A DP spent affects all tests in this event.

Addam victory in the horse race almost a week prior had brought him to the front of the line. For better or for worse, he was going first. Instead of using Lysette's courser that had won him the race, Addam opted to use his own destrier. Addam took Seasmoke through his paces, cantering around the field with grace and ease. When it came time for the jumps. The large warhorse clear all the obstacles as if he was a majestic show horse. The victory was bittersweet. He had won himself one of Lord Fossoway's fabled horses, but Seasmoke was his first horse. Still young and able, and had carried him through the parade and first three rounds. "Its going to be okay boy." he whisper to the horse as if they were old friends. "I'm going to only choose the finest mare for you. You will still carry me to glory in the list and battles while your offspring serve my children, and my children's children. Only the finest for the greatest mount in Westros."

As I used the Sponsor benefit I keep the influence and horse. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Balon's name carried weight but often for the wrong reasons. It was because of this he went to his cousin Lord Gormon and asked to be sponsored. Gormon granted him the boon and Balon was able to show off his skills atop his new destrier. Beast was a temperamental horse full of barely controlled energy. Balon had been riding him in his spare time, getting a feel for the warhorse before the Grand Melee. While not as graceful as a courser or palfrey, Beast was incredibly powerful and cleared all the obstacles with ease. As they progressed through the course Beast seemed to anticipate Balon's commands. They finished strong and Balon was rewarded for his skill in the saddle with a beautiful spotted roan courser. Beast, Ghaston, and now this mare. What to name her...

Equestrian - Entrance - Status(Rep)+Chiv v TN15: 4d6k3+7 22
Earning a spot amongst the first riders was easy enough, he had made enough of a name of himself to easily being recognised as competent horseman from a venerated (if currently low profile) house. Honour, his new Fossoway steed was strong of body and will he had came to realise - a horse bred for war, no doubt, but less so for showman ship. A more skillful or ruthless horseman might have been able to control the high-spirited animal more or perhaps Titus would, with time grow more attuned with the beast. His lack of dominance over Honours stubbornness lad him to fall short in the event and the prizes where past to other men. Equestrian - Animal Handling(Charm) v TN15: 5d6+1 18 - 1 DoS Equestrian - Animal Handling(Train) v TN15: 5d6+1 13 - Failure - might use BotA on this to pass, but withholding it for now incase something crazy happens. No reward without any risk.Daeron wasn't the best rider by a long shot, but he wanted the glory. Not for an irrational drive to be noticed, but because he knew that doing well at this competition would show everyone that he was still a knight worth respecting. He also wanted a new horse. He took Argent around the course, and though he managed to not humiliate himself, he didn't do anything to distinguish himself either. At the end of his display, he only managed to impress Lord Fossoway with his horse's responses to his verbal commands, and even then it wasn't nearly enough to earn more than a scattered applause from some friends in the audience. Daeron left the field, head held high, but otherwise unremembered. Now a spare twice over and long since unwelcome at Hammerhal, Roland was nonetheless among the first to ride out in the equestrian challenge. Talent and character counted as much as rank, at least for that moment. Roland gave a good account of himself, matching the talented Ser Addam Velaryon, champion of the tourney's horseback race. Roland smiled sadly at his fellow Companion's fondness for Seasmoke, and reminded himself that even though they were less than a decade apart in age there was a war between them: Ser Addam had only just killed his first man in the heroic rescue of Ser Aladore. While fond of his steeds, Roland had seen so many mounts die beneath him to Dornish tricks that such sentiment had been entirely bled from him. Cleyton brings out his mare Raudur a beautiful courser to win this even or so he hopes, yet he is stopped by one of the guards until he recognizes him as one of the final eight of the joust and allows him to enter the event. Cleyton dismounts and asks Leana for her sponsorship, it might be a costly affair, but he wishes to gain favor publicly of someone of high status and within the House he serves. Ser Parmen entered the equestrian competition with trepidation. Having squired for Lord Fossoway he knew the man's almost obsessive love of horse breeding, training, and riding and the exacting standards that he demanded from all who rode with him. Parmen was a decent horsemen but no champion. Yet today he performed every task with skill and precision if not grace. Perhaps it was the pressure of having his old Master looking down on him. Perhaps it was a chance to focus on the skills he had learned as a lad and ignore all of the politics and scheming that had marred this tournament. Perhaps Tempest simply recognized his old stablemates and trainers and was determined not to embarrass himself in front of them. Whatever it was, Parmen performed well enough to earn the applause of the crowd and even an approving smile and nod from Lord Jaimie. For his reward Parmen surprised everyone by passing up the magnificent destriers and splendid coursers, instead selecting a beautiful silver grey palfrey. The glorious animal had lines that promised speed and eyes that spoke to an unusual intelligence. He handed the reins to his wife, Alys. "My lady, as you have accepted me and all of my failings please accept this gift," he said softly. "If it pleases you I would suggest naming him Devotion. May he always serve as a reminder."

Unaware of Ser Parmen's indiscretions and unable to hear his words he merely observed the man present his wife with the horse he had won. House Redwyne - seemingly an entire family of skilled, virtuous knights! I must gift lady Alicent as she deserves too, should I earn her hand. A swift mount would both be a gift to treasure and help keep her safe.
Roland warmly applauded Ser Addam as they shared the plaudits for their performances.
"Well ridden Ser Addam, the Seven are truly with you in recent days - you know naught but triumph lately. We have done the Companions proud today, and now Seasmoke can breed us a new line of champion mounts."
For his own part he chose an enormous spirited black destrier with a white star marking that he named Star, with a characteristic lack of inspiration.
