A popular Tyrell happening is the Briar Run, a number of young men clad in leather from top to toe and wearing colorful tabards are blindfolded and led into the Briar Maze that lie between the outer and middle walls that have been planted and cultivated to confound and slow down any intruder (but mostly to entertain and delight those who live in the castle), as Lord Leo gives the signal for the trumpet sound they remove their blindfold and must race towards the gatehouse.
Restrictions: Mostly for youngsters, old men will not be turned away but noses will be wrinkled. A deception(disguise) TN 9 is sufficient to pass for a young boy, a lady discovered to have dressed up as such suffers -1 virtue.
Challenge: Optional: Agility (Contortions) TN 9, take one injury, but gain +1 per DoS on the challenge tests. Critical failure: -1D on the challenge tests.
Athletics (Run) TN 9 Endurance (Stamina) TN 9 Survival (Orientation) TN 9
Critical Failure ruins any chances of winning, critically failing the Survival test will leave you subject to some ridicule as you get lost in the maze and Lord Tyrell's attendants needs to come and find you.
Rewards: Highest total DoS over the three challenge tests: +1 glory and a place of honor at the feast held in the evening.
Tie-breaker is opposed Fighting(Brawl), it is possible to be honorable (honor-bound and similar triggers) and forfeit this test. If all those tied for victory opts to be honorable, tie is decided by rerolls of the challenge tests.

D9, Briar Run, 2 Injuries (w/ MotP), Athletics (Run) TN9: 4d6-1 12, 1 DoSD9, Briar Run, 2 Injuries (w/ MotP), Endurance (Stamina) TN9: 5d6k4-1 14, 2 DoSD9, Briar Run, 2 Injuries (w/ MotP), Survival (Orientation) TN9: 2d6-1 1, Crit Fail, Bwahahahahaha____________________________________________________________________________ Balon wasn't the fastest man competing but he didn't need to be when he had the stamina to keep at it indefinitely. Slow and steady wins the race. It was with this mentality that he ran through the maze, never too fast, never too slow. Progress was being made. Or was it? The longer he ran the more he felt like he was going nowhere. Haven't I passed this hedge before? That's the same broken branch, I swear it. Balon jumped up trying to see if he was any closer to Highgarden. It seemed he was further away than when he'd started. Balon's mind started to race. Please don't let me get lost. I'll never hear the end of it.
Time passed and Balon was still in the maze. The race was long over. He stood motionless, his face red with embarrassment and rage. "Hello? Hello! I have no fucking clue where I am!" Tyrell attendants would find him eventually. If any laugh I swear to the Seven I'll punch their face in. It was then that the huge breakfast he'd ate earlier caught up with him. Stomach grumblings slowly turned into pain. With hands on his hips he paced back and forth, breathing through his nose and out his mouth. Hold it. Hooooold it. I'll be out of here soon enough. He had to shit and his body wasn't going to wait. Balon ran around a corner and dropped his trousers. With a sigh of relief he unloaded on the poor shrubbery behind him. Balon's eyes watered as he emptied his bowels. "That could choke a donkey." he muttered. While squatted he heard voices. The attendants had finally found him. No, no, no. Balon tore his tabard off and wiped before stuffing the befouled tabard into a hedge. Balon pulled up his pants and quickly walked around a corner right into two men. "Ser." one said while the other began sniffing the air, "We're here to escort you back to the gatehouse." "What is that smell?" the other asked, his hand waving in front of his face. "I think an animal died somewhere close." Balon blurted before ordering them, "Now show me the way out."

[D9] The Briar Run - Athletics (Run) v. TN 9: 6d6k4 22 - 3/DoS [D9] The Briar Run - Endurance (Stamina) v. TN 9: 5d6k4 11 - 1/DoS [D9] The Briar Run - Survival(Orientation) v. TN 9: 3d6 9 - 1/DoS
Total DoS - 5
Tie Breaker - [D9] The Briar Run - Fighting (Brawling): 8d6k5 23
What Mikel should have done was spend some time each night in the labyrinth so he would be comfortable in it when the race came, but he hadn't. Instead he decided to stay behind somebody who seemed to know where they were going then sprint past them when he felt they were nearing the end. His conditioning proved itself whenever he thought the next corner was the last, but each time he saw it wasn't his recent lack in upkeep towards his physicality since taking his head injury made itself felt as his lungs seemed to be battling to reawaken from a deep sleep and he hated the unfamiliar burning that came with it. Finally his speed paid off as the next corner was truly the last and he sprinted in to the end of the race, leaving his unofficial guide feeling much used.

Roland ran hard, but did not reach his full potential. Running without the familiar rhythm of his hair moving in time with his pace was most unsettling. He was encouraged to see his friend Ser Mikel disappear around a corner in what they had both taken to be the right direction. Such was unsurprising given the physical prowess he mad displayed at the smallfolk's tourney. The Seven have gifted him a strong body to carry out his noble purpose. D9 Briar Run Athletics;Endurance (Stamina);Survival: 4d6 11 6d6k4 18 3d6 11- 4 DoS total

Having been raised in the training grounds and on tournaments, neither of the Blackbriar brothers were all too attuned with nature. Hard to get lost at Gyldenhaal when all you have is vast fields of wheat and very few trees - even less so in clusters. But despite making the wrong turn several times and finding himself at dead-ends more than once, Titus heart was in the race and he ran fast enough to make up for such blunders. Getting closer to the finishing line he caught up with several others, Ser Mikel amongst them and whilst victory was within reach Titus refrained from the small-time melee that broke out by the finishing line, missing out on the win. None the matter as it was all in good fun! The Briar Run - Athletics v TN9: 4d6 23 - 3 DoS The Briar Run - Endurance (Stamina) v TN9: 5d6k4 17 - 2 DoS The Briar Run - Survival v TN9: 2d6 5 - non critical failure Total DoS: 5 Voluntarily fails Honour-Bound and will forfeit Tie-breaker test

Briar Run Athletics: 4d6-1 14 2 DoS Briar Run Endurance: 3d6-1 10 1 DoS Briar Run Survival: 3d6-1 8 0 DoS Total: 3
Despite his injuries from the day before, Addam manage to find his way out of the maze in a respectable time. He had manage to keep up a decent pace, but it didn't take long before to young knight soon became lost within the thick hedges. Eventually he had found his way out and through the finish line line. He wasn't first, but at least no one had to go look for him.

D9 BriarRun - Athletics (TN9): 3d6 11 {1DOS}{D9} Briar Run: Endurance-Stamina (TN9): 6d6k4 21 {3DOS}{D9} Briar Run: Survival (TN9): 3d6 7 {Simple Failure}
TOTAL= 4DOS
Parmen had not planned on joining the race but his cousin and squire Edwin had sensed his frustration and had convinced him to treat it like a training exercise. The boy might never turn into a recruit for the Kingsguard but even at 14 he understood people and how to motivate them. Parmen always saw his cousin Cecilia in the boy. Parmen was quick enough but where he excelled was when the race became a grind and the other less conditioned competitors began to fall away. He passed numerous young men who had sprinted out the first 200 paces and were now puking their guts out in the bushes. Unfortunately his unfamiliarity with the maze saw him get turned around and lose his way. Although he managed to find his way out he had cost him valuable time. Still his overall performance was respectable and more critically it had given him a chance to clear his mind and focus solely on the race.

Though the competitive side of him was tempted to compete in the race, it just really wasn't his scene. Daeron had plenty of other things to do, including recovering from his injuries and generally staying out of the spotlight.
