Septon Abelar steps out from the crowd, full of righteous fire. "The Gods have judged Lord Willum! Lady Orme's honor rides high, just like her champion!" He sweeps an arm toward Roland, his voice booming out. "Look upon justice, then look within and repent!"It is a highly satisfying outcome--one that could only have been surpassed if Roland had separated Lord Willum's head from his shoulders. Thinks the septon that wanted Roland to ride instead of Rennifer?

Didn't we get what the Septon and I wanted, just via Laena instead of the Septon's intrigue? It's late on a Friday so I might be missing something.
Also: go Septon, turn this in to a political event/chance to fire the crowd and plant the seeds for the Warrior's Sons to be reborn!

Roland, the Septon seems to think it would be better were Lord Karl to have been killed, which is precisely what this set-up avoided. If he truly wanted Lord Karl dead, he'd have been better served not trying to intrigue Lady Kyra at all (unless he *deliberately* bolloxed it up in order to increase the chance of death while seeming innocent).

Maybe he wanted Karl dead but by the hand of a chivalrous man like Roland. Less effect if it's by Rennifer.

Could be.
Incidentally, I would like to give special praise to the title of the thread. There have been some real great puns and references, but twisted echoes are particularly pleasing to me.

Thanks! It's late and I'm not at my sharpest. Or Roland's Cunning 2 is infectious... Cheers for the other post praising the thread title - I'm not as good at these as much of the rest of the gang. I have the same issue naming Doomtown decks, but the callback was too good to resist. @balon - that's a good way of thinking of it, thanks! Surprised and delighted at Roland's fluke win over Redtusk, was lovely to be on the way back from work and double a double take - first thing I spotted was the "Ransom" bit. Not sure if Ser Addam's bet was just on this match (in which case, grand news!). As for Lord Levalle's hefty bet - fingers crossed, but Blackfyre himself is still in and looks nigh unbeatable without destiny (as well he should be!). Normally I'd use my destiny in the last few tourney rounds, but I'm likely to keep it back to use against the frightening Ser Rennifer Waters in my D10 duel, sorry. I'm no expert but I think he wants to kill Roland.

Lol I think the bet was just for Roland v Roland, not you getting all the way to the end.
The second bet loss should be covered by your win. So it will be a net zero. If Marq does win though.... 🙄

IC it will be galling for Roland that the reviled Lord Levalle makes more money from Roland's success then he himself does. OOC I'm very pleased for you! I shouldn't have believed the rumour - that's what I get for just tasking the almanac's rumours as gospel without investigating them. Edit: even as I type the big shock comes in! Lord Durwell with the big upset. He'll be almost as tough to beat with his cheatin' ways, if he continues to risk them...

Yeah I only betted on you to win that match, but 5 extra gold is still a welcomed addition.

Yeah I only betted on you to win that match, but 5 extra gold is still a welcomed addition. Glad to fluke the win and repay the faith! I thought you were richer than God (the Seven?) now thanks to the Florent rescue? This is just a drop in the ocean compared to the coin earned by your heroic charge.

So we shall have at least two PCs in the semis, quite exciting. Bittersteel and Peake must be as livid as Amerei, for not too dissimilar reasons, really.
Lord Marq had better watch his back (and his wine).
