Redtusk himself. The man who had given Roland his spurs in the fighting before the King made peace with Dorne. His hair's absence nagged at him even though it should have made his helm sit easier. Trying to set such thoughts aside, he dipped his lance to Janna Hightower. At least I have lived up to our discussion a week past to hold this clash of Rolands in the latter rounds rather than the opening round.
He was still in two minds as to his approach even as he took his first lance from his squire Hugh. Redtusk was a most vexing opponent. Against Ser Daemon Roland would have been clearly outclassed, but to his judgement Redtusk was simply close to Roland but that little bit better in almost every respect. He was older than Roland and more experienced - with other knights in the quaterfinal he might have aimed for their breastplate to try to overwhelm their endurance or ridden conservatively, trusting in his sword-arm to best them. Neither approach seemed wise against his heroic namesake. Indecision was often a man's undoing in combat, and he attempted to make up his mind as to his opponent's strategy, and whether he should strive for a bold approach, and risk being dismounted swiftly, or ride more conservatively, to give the crowd a longer show at this late stage. Ser Roland Redwyne is well known to his namesake, an honorable opponent, but one that would not fall for hubris, or take risks he does not need to take, what Roland can expect to face is a slightly better horseman, an experienced jouster that will ably select his tactics, and Redtusk is quicker with a sword in hand and slower to tire. But much greater surprises have happened so far than the younger Roland prevailing in this match.

Roland began competently, but he would have to be far better than competent to hope to defeat Redtusk. QF P1-3 N, EF;SiS;CyB: 3#7d6k4+8 25 26 31 3#6d6k4+1 19 23 18 3#6d6k4 17 15 16Passive Ride: 21 Health: 12/12 AR: 10/10

Redtusk matches his namesake in blow after blow, but against the third lance his seat in the saddle fails him. Noble, Eyes Fixed, HiS: 3#7d6k4+10 27 30 28 3#7d6k4-1 15 21 11 3#7d6k5 27 20 19That's superior Full Plate and superior Destrier for ransom.

His third blow had been the best placed of his opening tilts, and by good fortune this coincided with Redtusk's poorest pass.
Roland raised his broken lance to the skies in triumph, then cast it aside and trotted past Janna Hightower, dipping his head in her honour. He also sought out Lady Alicent in the crowd, too caught up in the moment to lift his visor yet.
He knew that were they to face each other a score of times Redtusk would win more than he lost, but there was still something special about defeating the great knight on such a stage. The song of Roland had been shorter than many expected, but it was still hard fought and sweet to Roland's ear.
Bringing fortitude up to Redtusk he dismounted and helped his former comrade in arms to his feet.
"Hard fought Ser Roland, Warrior guide your arm in the melee."
