Time: After completion of Day 7 Jousting. Before Mummer's Dragon Event.
If people want to post reactions to the joust/melee they are more than welcome I just don't want this to get too crowded. Rules: Training Lances and Longswords. 3 tilts. If no one is unhorsed it goes to foot until one yields.
___________________________________________________________________________________________
The sun had made its way across the sky but had not yet begun to dip towards the horizon. Smallfolk and noble alike had enjoyed the day's jousting. Cheering for their favorites, gasping at the savagery of some of the blows, and overall enjoying themselves. But now a different kind of joust was about to begin. There were no accolades to be won, no ransom, no fame. The only thing that mattered was honor between two brothers.
Balon had watched the match between Titus and Simon Tarly. His anger wanted Titus to lose but his pride wanted to see his brother win so he'd be unharmed when the two fought. He didn't want anyone to claim he won due to a weakened or injured Titus.
At the encampment Balon had spent considerable time polishing his golden armor and seeing personally to his horse's saddle. To lose would be beyond embarrassing and he'd be damned if it was due to equipment error. The only thing worse than losing would be the death of his brother. Balon once again found himself burying his conflicted emotions deep into the recesses of his mind.
With helmet resting in the crook of his arm he rode to the designated area, waiting for his brother and any late coming onlookers to arrive.

He'd spent the the remainder of the day under the care of the maesters. They'd tended to his injuries and although he resisted it, administered milk of the poppy, enough to dull the pain but not his wits. His second visit to the maesters of the day had given him quiet time for contemplation and prayer in preparation of the inevitable.
Now for the third time he donned his armour, coloured gold just like that of his brother's, just like that of their father's, just like that of the knight who adorned their family sigil. Ser Roland Blackbriar, the Giantslayer, charging across the fields of the Reach, blessed by seven stars. Balon was no giant, Titus was no hero of old and at this moment he felt abysmal, smaller and more scared than he'll ever admit to anyone. Grabbing his sword and mounting Wheatsheaf he forced all those thoughts and others as far away from him as possible. This was just another tilt. Three rounds. Then swords. And then life would carry on... for them both.
For the third time today Titus rode out onto the tourney grounds of the Field of Roses to face an opponent. He was ready, or as ready as he would be.
[OOC: As agreed with Balon, tilt takes place around 4 hours after today's second round so Titus' point of fatigue has passed (if approved by Narrator). Taking Milk of the Poppy his Injuries is brought from -2 to -1.]

Balon rode up to his brother, his helm still cradled in his arm so his brother could see his face. "It's not too late brother. I don't want to hurt you but you need to answer for what you did in front of all those knights." Balon spoke so only the two of them could hear. To Titus it almost sounded like Balon was pleading with him, "We should be allies, not enemies. Recant and we can end this now the easy way. Otherwise," Balon's shoulders sagged a little, "we settle it the hard way." Balon looked to the assembled crowd trying to see who had showed up to watch the brothers fight. After a moment he turned back to his brother, "What will it be?"
I put in my personal OOC what my tactics will be in the joust. We can do all three passes at once or one at a time. I will let you respond then base my rolls on yours. Good luck.

"Allies in what?" It was too late and they both knew it. Putting his helm on he said no more and rode to position. Awaiting Balon to take his place and the call from the tournament master, Titus too looked out to the stalls to see who had come. ... When the trumpets sound he kicked Wheatsheaf into a charge, he did not want to harm Balon but he wasn't going to lose and he wasn't going to hold back.

Balon put on his helm and rode to the starting position. Taking a training lance he looked at Titus, replaying every joust he'd had at Highgarden so far. Balon tried to recall a weakness, a tell in the way Titus held his shield or aimed his lance. He found nothing. Lost in thought he was startled when the trumpet sounded and he hastily spurred Ghaston forward. Balon didn't recover from the surprise fast enough and was unable to land a good blow with his lance. However he was ready for Titus' strike and shrugged it off with ease. For expediency going to roll for Pass 2 as well. Balon whirled his horse around and took another lance. He shook his head in a physical attempt to shoo away the mental fog he felt like he was in. He squinted until he had tunnel vision, the only thing in his sights was Titus. The horn sounded again but he was ready this time. Pass 2, vs. Titus, EF, Defensive 2: 6d6k4+3 21Pass 2, vs. Titus, SiS TN10, CyB: 6d6k4 17 5d6k4 8

Lances shattered harmlessly off shields and neither rider was close to falling off. It was exactly as Balon had wanted it to go. And now I end this. Balon discarded the shattered lance and dismounted Ghaston. A Blackbriar man-at-arms presented Balon's sword to him handle first. Taking the sword Balon walked towards his brother rolling his neck to loosen it up before the melee. When he and his brother were close he stopped and raised his sword in a salute to his brother. "Sȳz biarves." Balon brought his shield to the high ready and assumed a guarded stance. Dismounting, Titus too took his sword presented from a Blackbriar man-at-arms. Raising his sword he saluted his brother in silence. His movements where noticeably slower and more sluggish than those of Balon, something which could be applied to fatigue from his day in the tilts, a side effect of the milk of the poppy he'd been given or simple fear. Forgot the -1 from Injuries on my jousting rolls but I don't think it makes a difference in outcome.CD: 10 AR: 10 Health: 12/12 Initiative v Balon: 3d6-5 4

Titus seemed to move slightly slower than Balon. Be it the two jousts beforehand, the sword fight with Ser Simon, or something else, Balon cared not. He saw the opportunity to initiate and took it. Charging forward he brought his sword up high and brought it down towards the sword arm of Titus. Titus' plate absorbed the majority of the blow but Balon had made solid contact. _____________________________________________________________ CD: 13 AR: 10 HP: 12/12 Passive Fighting: 23

Withering the blow Titus drives his opposite shoulder into Balon, knocking him off-balance, followed by a powerful downwards swing which makes impact with the plate covering his brother's shoulder.

"Ummpf." Balon let out a grunt as he hit the ground. Balon wasn't in a position to question honor but he found knocking opponents to the ground so uncivilized. Getting up on a knee he unleashed a fury of swings in an attempt to put Titus off balance. Finding an opening in his brother's defenses, Balon delivered a hard blow to Titus' midsection. He knew being on a knee would make him more vulnerable but others had tried it at Donnel's practice-melee to no avail. _____________________________________________________________ CD: 13 AR: 10 HP: 10/12 Passive Fighting: 23

Balon struck true and Balon struck hard. Titus buckled by the blow and in a last effort he tried to place a strike against his brother's exposed armpit, the plate took the blow however and it would not be long until it was finished. They both knew it.

Titus was going to lose. Balon knew it, his brother knew it. If this had been real combat Balon would've shown no mercy and finished him off but he didn't want a dead brother. He wanted a brother to recant his public statements. He wanted a brother alive and well. If, nay when, the war came, he wanted Titus fighting on his side. Staying on one knee Balon again disoriented his brother with a series of swings that in his fatigued state he was unable to keep up with. Balon waited for the opportune time and struck at his brother's stomach, hoping to knock the wind out of him and end the duel. Despite his confidence in the outcome Balon was cautious and made sure to not leave himself exposed if Titus continued to fight. _____________________________________________________________ CD: 13 (16) AR: 10 HP: 10/12 Passive Fighting: 23

Falling to his knees, Titus lowers his sword and raises a hand. "Enough! I yield." He rips his helm of, panting. "You win. You happy?" He tries to stand up but his leg gives way and he falters, his face a mixture of anger and shame.

Balon finally stood, towering over his brother. Behind his helm his face was a myriad of emotions. Anger, relief, joy, misery. He couldn't let anyone see him like that. Not today.
He stuck his sword into the ground and extended his hand out to Titus to help him up. Seeing his leg give way Balon grabbed him in an attempt to steady him. "Get up you baby. I barely touched you." Balon took his helmet off with one hand and let it fall to the ground. All other emotions he'd felt had been replace with concern. He motioned for the maester to come over and inspect his brother. "Why would I be happy. You called me a murderer and traitor." he stopped any retort by Titus and continued, "But what's done is done. Let us talk and be straightforward with one another. No more public accusations. No more bravado. Brother to brother." He smiled, "When you've rested let's go to the Golden Rose Inn. Drinks are on you."
Balon was doing his best to follow his mother's advice and be a brother, not a bully. Much of his anger had been expended in the duel and now he wanted to get back to him and Titus being friends.
