Ser Farman Flowers can do little more than shatter his lance harmlessly upon Breakspear's Shield, the Great Bastard being swept out of his saddle so skillfully that only Bittersteel is able to hold back his admiration. Ser Aerion Baratheon against Lord Damon Lannister is perhaps the most anticipated match this round, but the Lord of the Rock goes in with too timid a style, so afraid to be unhorsed that he misses cleanly on the third tilt and finds himself eliminated. Ser Loras Durwell puts in a strong showing against Ser Tywin Lannister, but the third lance of the Lord Commander is just enough to knock him off his horse. Ser Roland Redwyne unhorses Lord Pearce Caron on the first pass with little difficulty. Ser Willas Tyrell rides for seven tilts before Lord Durwell finally unseats him. Lord Marq proved himself skillful and patient, his victory never looking particularly threatened. "The clash of Willem's" is over before it truly began, though most had expected a slightly different outcome as it is Ser Willem Wylde of the Kingsguard that unseats Lord Willem Starling of Kingsbridge. Ser Aemon Flowers unhorses Ser Nestor Velaryon on the second pass. Ser Tommard Heddle unhorses Ser Brynden Butterwell on the second pass. Lord Gormon Peake and Ser Imry Levalle are neck on neck with absolutely nothing to separate them in a thrilling match, in the seventh tilt, Ser Imry changes tack and employs very risky tactics, and through luck and skill, but probably mostly luck, manages to keep his seat and deliver such a strong blow that even the very good horsemanship of Lord Gormon cannot cope with it. Lord Willem Redwyne and Lord Imre Orme also last for seven tilts, though Lord Willem steadily gaining the advantage on his foe, and when Lord Orme attempts the same tactics as Ser Imry in the match before, he gets slammed out of his saddle by his stronger foe that keeps his saddle. Ser Quentin Cordwayner goes three times against Ser Orton Ambrose, on the third tilt his opponent misses cleanly and thus forfeits the match Lord Edmyn Conklyn gains the advantage when Ser Flement Redwyne fails to break his first lance, but the Durwell sworn sword changes tactics and his aggressive riding forces his foe out of his saddle. Ser Preston Oakheart unhorses Ser Damon Peake on the third tilt, though neither jouster impresses in this round. Ser Manfryd Grimm dispatches Lord Marlon Manderly with force and superior skill on the first tilt. Ser Normyn Flowers also sends Ser Symon Starkwood out of the competition with his first strike of the lance. Ser Raymun Hightower, having unhorsed Ser Garret Tyrell in the previous round, continues to deliver upsets, this time it is Ser Sandor Redwyne that he bests as the heir to the Arbor misses with his third lance. Ser Selmond Footly misses his first lance against Ser Malcolm Caswell, when he raises the stakes in a wild attempt to win by unhorsing, his gamble backfires and he himself is brought out of his seat on the second pass. Lord Jaime Fossoway misses his second lance against Lord Bryce Bridges, the absentee Lord of the Laughing Stream easily weathers the risky attempt at clawing victory back from the brink and is awarded the victory, he salutes Lady Laena and makes a statement about how old dogs doesn't need to learn so many new tricks because they know thrice as many as the whelps. Lord Jaime, himself past fifty years, takes to being called a whelp with surprising grace. Ser Lyonel Baratheon unhorses Ser Roland Crakehall on the first tilt.
