Cleyton's confidence is soaring with his consecutive wins so far, but he is aware that it hasn't been someone of true skill or renown that could force him make a breakthrough on his skill, but he is still grateful that he can train and continue to hone his jousting skill. Cleyton mounts and gives a salute to Tanselle in the crowd and raises hi lance signaling he is ready to his opponent. Facing Cleyton is Ser Symon Thorne of the Crownlands, not the most renowned opponent, but the fact that he remain in this competition suggests that he is quite capable.

While Ser Symon's lance broke, the blow was not as well placed as Ser Cleyton's: the Northerner had an early lead in the eyes of most experienced observers, despite his modest equipment. R4 P1 N:SiS;CyB: 5d6k3+4 16 6d6k4 20 4d6 16PR: 18 AR: 10 Health: 12/12

Cleyton eyes shine, an opponent that was a good match, this is a good chance to polish his skill and give it his best, but he wasn't doing anything risky continuing to ride as it did in hopes that his better riding skill would carry him through. Cleyton gets ready for the second tilt hoping that his next hit will unseat his opponent, since it was highly unlikely he could do any lasting damage. Joust Round 4 - Noble Stance -Pass 2: 5d6k3+4 16Stay in the Saddle - Round 4 - Pass 2: 6d6k4 18Yet his excitement made him eager and his lance didn't connect properly sliding off Ser Symon and curses filled his mind for his mistake.

Ser Symon fought back well in the second pass, placing his lance well and bringing the match back in to the balance. R4 P2 N;SiS;CyB: 5d6k3+4 18 6d6k4 21 4d6 16 - 1 DoS PR: 18 AR: 10 Health: 12/12 Score: 1 DoS all after two passes

Ser Cleyton edged in to the lead, his blows consistently better placed, but not providing a clear enough advantage to be declared the victor after three passes. The match would go on! R4 P3 N;SiS;CyB: 5d6k3+4 16 6d6k4 13 4d6 10PR: 18 AR: 10 Health: 12/12 Score: 2 Cleyton v 1 DoS Symon after three passes. [OOC: happy to do batches of three rolls at a time if narrator and Ser Cleyton are okay with that and neither fancies shifting tactics much.]

I do that all the time, but I also operate with all out offense if critfailing clauses which is easier to handle if you're running both sides. With PC's involved, one would have to state those out in advance.
Standard NPC procedure is to go HiS+HS+A3 if one either: 1) Misses lance. 2) Falls behind by 3 DoS. The standard response to HS (and opponent critfail on fighting in general) is to go Braced.

High speed treatment, note that it's more sporting OOC not to look at the numbers of your opponent before rolling, and just do what you would do if you didn't know his rolls. Symon N 4-6: 3#5d6k3+4 20 19 19 3#6d6k4 19 16 19 3#4d6 14 18 11Symon N 7-9: 3#5d6k3+4 15 17 20 3#6d6k4 18 13 20 3#4d6 9 16 15Correction: 3#1d6 2 5 4So that's all remaining 9 rounds if applicable. Against PR 18, cumulative DoS scored are: R4: 2 R5: 3 R6: 4 R7: 4 R8: 4 R9: 5 You have 2 DoS currently after 3 rounds, if you at any point get a 3 DoS or he critfails he'll change to a much more aggressive approach as noted above. It looks like if your MO is to go noble until something happens to alter the variables, that will not kick in before round 9.

Ser Cleyton had a chance to take the initiative, as Ser Symon was still tired from their closely fought bout. The crowd cheered another match going to swords, with many competitors evenly matched in the later rounds. Initiative: Agility -AP: 3d6-4 4CD: 9 AR: 10 Health: 12/12

Cleyton sighs inwardly how detestable... I won, and here I am forced to dismount and fight on foot so he can have a fair chance to steal my luck. Looking at the tired movements of Ser Symon, Cleyton wanted to take the opportunity to deal a good hit while he had the upper hand and charged against Ser Symon. Ser Symon focused on smashing Symon's shield to pieces in an attempt to leave the Northman vulnerable. Lesser action: R4 C1 Knockdown: 3d6 11 - succeeds thanks to AP from Mail armour reducing passive agility. Lesser action: R4 C1 Smash shield (inc knockdown): 7d6k4 21 resolved against higher of combat defence and object difficulty. - 2 DoS, 10 Damage (4 base damage +1 from opponent being prone) to shield reducing future TN to break it down to 2. CD: 9 AR: 10 Health: 12/12 - Here's the FAQ's difficulties for smashing weapons. I lean towards shields being TN 12, as they're sturdy/iron rimmed and "most objects tend to be Formidable (12)" according to the rulebook. Valyrian Steel Heroic (21) Castle-Forge Steel Very Hard (18) Iron Formidable (12) Bronze Challenging (9) Bone, wood, etc Routine (6)"
