As were many of the people walking among the statues. Any other time Ser Parmen would have enjoyed the opportunity to stop and smell the Tyrell roses but today he an Malyk were on a mission for House Levalle. He had dressed simply but well. The clothes flattered him and for once he had gone out of his way to avoid wearing his House colors. He did not know how the Dornishwoman viewed Reacher houses and saw little reason to chance a bad first impression.

The Senechal shrugged.
He was dressed rather sedately today, at least for him. A cream shirt and well-cut long coat in peach paisley brocade. He had purchased it from a tradesman and after extensive tailoring and restyling complimented him far more than the fat Dornish noble it was rumored to previously belong to. In fairness, both Parmen and Malyk could probably make burlap sackcloth look good.
"I am rarely quite certain about anything, Ser. I believe she will come because you are a Knight of reputation and have beautiful eyes, if for no other reason."

The longer he knew Malyk the less he understood him and the more he appreciated him. "Coming from the man with two of the most famous eyes in Realm, I take that as high praise indeed." |

He gave another little shrug. "I simply state a fact, Ser. The Seven blessed you with great beauty, or handsomeness if you prefer. That can be a talent as much as a strong arm or quick mind." He glanced around the garden. "Most people appreciate beauty, even yearn for it. This garden is just one example. I understand the Lady is very beautiful as well, and uses that beauty to great effect. You should be very careful, for unlike you, many other weapons at your disposal have been denied to her so I expect she has honed the few that remain very sharply indeed. The little I know of her says she engages with men the way you face opponents on the tourney field. It is for this reason I believe she will come. Few with talent can resist testing their mettle against a new and unknown opponent."
He sighed. "To be honest, I am unsure of our Lord's purpose in this, but to make a new friend has value in itself. If she is in need of help and we can help her, that enriches us even if we gain nothing more in return."

Lady Alicent didn't so much come as send word that she would happy for Ser Parmen to come see her, in one of the other gardens, whether she simply prefers it that way or plays games who can say with a noble lady? She sits reading a book in the shade of a Peach, it's flowers a lovely shade of pink. Her guard detail tries to be as discrete as they can, but they do look rather bored, the lady would likely be displeased were they to pass the time talking to each other. Her white gown is conservatively cut, making her seem peaceful and innocent, but it is made for the hot days of high summer and paired with her beauty that can easily make the eyes and thoughts of a man wandering to places where they should not, doubly so when he is married. |

As he waited for Parmen to introduce them, Malyk glanced around the garden and the beautiful tableau before them so carefully constructed. I'd have puppies... no... kittens playing at her feet. Would that be too much? Probably not. I'd change the guard's colors as well so the faded more into the background. The lighting, however, is perfect. Probably the reason she choose this garden.Awareness (Notice) Fair Maiden: 6d6k4 15Deep down Malyk had been excited about meeting Lady Alicent. This was the first time he'd meet someone even remotely Dornish. At first glance and given the stories, he had to admit to a hint of disappointment. She was certainly beautiful, but in many ways Parmen was just a beautiful, and he did not feel the need to stage that beauty. Perhaps its because she is a women and desires to control what she can in a world where she has little control otherwise. That thought made Malyk a little sad. |

Out of habit a small portion of his brain works hard noting where each of the guards are standing, their apparent states of readiness, and how he would need to move if one of them turned out to be working with the mysterious assassins. The far far larger portion of his mind is taken up by admiring the beautiful women sitting in front of him. " Lady Alicent," he offers with a bow and a smile. " I see that the tales of your beauty have not been exaggerated. I am Ser Parmen and this is Goodman Malyk. Thank you for agreeing to meet with us today." |

"Ser is too kind, it is not like this book will be leaving Highgarden in a week like most of the current visitors." She does not seem shaken by the attack, or maybe she just suppresses it all. "Now, what is on your mind, Ser Parmen? Surely a married knight has no intention of courting a lady intended for another?"

Malylk slightly arched an eyebrow.
Interesting opening comment veiled as a jest. Does she truly believe the only reason a man would visit her is out of desire for her? And if so would that be arrogance or experience? More likely it was designed to evoke flustered denials from Parmen and put him on the defensive. Either way, it seems likely at least some of the rumors about her are true.
He had been watching nobles for years and they fascinated him. It was a wonder to him that any trusted each other at all given that nearly every conversation amounted to a chess match. It all seemed to stem around power, gaining it, keeping it; as if power was a pie there was only so much of and battles must be waged for the largest slice. Malyk had spent his life helping and serving others and, from what he could see, was substantially happier for it.

"Alas, I can not speak for all married knights, my lady, but you are correct in my case." Not that it wouldn't be enjoyable. "Rather we are here to gain insights which only you can provide. The camps are all abuzz with the story of the attack but the stories are most often told by my fellow knights and we are for the most part simple men. You may see things that they have missed or understand things that we find confusing."
"If that is not possible then I am more then content to rest in this garden with my companion, a beautiful woman and a book." Plus her four Flower Guards. "But I think that it is at least possible that we can help one another."

"Help each other? Ser knows how to make a woman feel special and intrigued" It seems second nature to her to play this game, she probably isn't flirting, but that detail would be lost on most men when she addresses them directly in such fashion.

This women deserves far better than Lord Eldon. Of course almost any women does.
Parmen puts his best smile firmly in place. It was not difficult given his current circumstances. He must convince Alicent to speak honestly with him. Malyk had said that it was all about earning trust. How to keep such women intrigued?
"I speak only the simple truth. My lady was attacked in broad daylight. Although the villains were caught their master remains hidden in the shadows. Let us be honest, if they were willing to strike once and kill a Septa, they are very likely to attack again at a time of their choosing and despite the presence of your valiant guards. You are a brave women to carry on unafraid but I think that you are also far too clever not to know how dangerous of a situation you are in and how you are at risk."
"This tournament has been deadly and not just for those of us who choose to don armor and ride in the lists. Let me be frank: House Levalle is a successful house but it has more then its fair share of enemies and people who would be happy to see it suffer. It is only a matter of time before some gossiping squire starts the rumor that Levalle is secretly behind all of these crimes for whatever reason is most convienent for the storyteller. Such a tale may not be believed but it will be repeated."

"Neither Lord Tyrell's people, other concerned parties or myself have been idle in confirming this"

Parmen has no qualms about recognizing his own limitations and says all this with a a self deprecating shrug. "Fortunately, I have an advantage that no one else has. Him. Goodman Malyk, has a talent for seeing what other people miss and for solving problems that others regard as unsolvable. If anyone can assist it is him."

"Ser Parmen is somewhat overzealous in his praise. I tend toward less... restrictive thinking than most but my talent is generally organization. Far more can be accomplished with a group working together than the same could accomplish separately.
I tend to agree with you that the danger is passed. In fact, I doubt very much you were intended to be in any danger at all. If someone wanted you dead there are far easier and less messy ways to do so. I can think of a dozen just off the top of my head. However I have been wrong before. It costs nothing to come see you and if something fruitful comes of it, so much the better.
In truth I was curious about you. I've never met anyone of Dornish blood before. After all the stories, I half expected to find you bore horns and a tail. I don't see any horns." He gave a vague puzzled look at her beautiful dress. "You don't have a tail, do you Lady Alicent?" It was not entirely clear if Malyk was jesting or not.
