Laena and Aerion sat eating lunch. Laena had suggested it, because (at least potentially) bad news is better on a full stomach.
She had let most of the lunch pass with small-talk, daintily eating her modest portion, waiting until her brother started to slow his eating before she finally broached the subject she wanted to.
"So, I met Lady Shiera yesterday." She doesn't mention her reason for doing so - no reason to prick his pride so early. "And I may have caused you a bit of a problem." She admits. "My impression of her was that she really is me, perfected. Except without the personal bond to you. Which makes her even more dangerous than I thought.
"So, before I go on, why did you choose to ask for her favour? There were other prestigious options. Certainly ones which would require less effort. So, why her?" Her question is genuinely curious, rather than condemning.
