How is it that I'm having to meet with this man a second time within two days? Hopefully what I can offer feeds into his own self-interest.
Sitting across a table from Lord Alliser, Daeron sips his drink trying to wash the bitter taste from his mouth. He was a powerful man who could maybe deliver what Daeron needed, but at what cost? After dispensing with idle pleasantries cuts to the chase.
"Lord Alliser, it is good of you to meet with me again, and so soon. I apologize for pulling you away from your family and concerns, but I have a request of you."
Daeron presses his fingers together. In a dark corner of the Golden Rose he feels more open to speak openly with the wily lord.
"I'd like for you to speak with Ser Rennifer Waters and convince him to support Prince Maekar or some other royalist in the melee. That false knight has escaped justice for his crimes and I'd like a fair opportunity to dispense what he deserves. If you can sway Ser Bryce Goldstag and other Longtable knights, that would be even better. It would be easy to have allies recruit them, but it's considered bad form and bad faith to attack allies of allies.
Agree to do this for me and I have something to offer to you that might advance your house."

Alliser lifted his eyebrows, curious
"Well good Ser, you have my attention. It is the least I can do to hear a proposition by his gallant friends." He transitions smoothly from flattery to a more business like attitude, lowering his voice, "so what is your idea Ser? He asks, reaching for his cup full of dark redwyne.

"Just yesterday you said that it's a shame that accidents don't happen to bad actors. This is a chance for them to face their just desserts. Accidents happen in the melee and a broken limb or two is expected. For the false knights and blackguards that serve Longtable I think that a few maimed men doesn't come close to the retribution that they and their foul master deserve, but it's the best that we can hope for at the moment."
He gives a moment for the lord to think over his words.
"Agree to convince these villains to support a royalist team so that they may join and I will help you."

Alliser chews his bottom lip thoughtfully, pushing House Merryweather to support the king, with the blessing of one of the Fires champions? This may further the rumors of supporting fyre, but if the Levalle's appear on one side, while the Merryweather's on the other, then if we are an alliance through marriage it means that we could swing one way or the other as a group. The more houses we have banded together the better deal we can get from whichever side we swing towards. he leans back, appearing to appraise the silver haired bastard across the table from himself.
"There have already been rumors that I am leaning towards Fire, thanks to our drinks yesterday. However, the brute is also on your side. What is to keep him from sticking a lance in my back? There are already rumors about Daven." His lips turn inward forming a thin line on his face.
"After I've served my purpose, what is to keep my head on my shoulders?" His voice is an octave lower, lost onto the murmur of the tavern's other patrons.

Daeron gives a surprised look.
"You plan on entering the melee yourself? I would advise against such a thing, for I know that the Brute will definitely stick a lance into you if given an opening."

Alliser laughs, "well I had intended to. But I had my doubts to be sure. And now that the Otho's ire is on me?" Alliser shrugs, "perhaps I shouldn't. With the rate more capable men then I am falling in this tournament, it might be better to not risk a meeting." He gives a sly smile, "besides, I never was particularly strong in the melee, unlike yourself."

Daeron gives a subtle look of relief, Blackfyre had already cleaned up once from Otho going off the rails, it wouldn't be good if it needed to happen a second time in a fortnight.
"I feel then we are in agreement on that. Just don't take any future strolls through Bracken pavilions or lands in the near future. As for the Longtable blackguards, do you think that you'll be able to convince them to support Prince Maekar, or that you could convince Prince Maekar to take one as a member of his team? I ask you because I know how convincing you can be, and that you've got connections all over."

Giving the lord a few moments to think things over, he offers up the information he had promised.
"I know that you, like most lords, are always looking for profitable marriages for your daughter. I also know that it can be difficult to secure a desirable match, in which case I have two for you. Neither of them is likely to be a lord, but if you'll forgive me, I don't see any house in the Reach allowing their heir to marry a scion from a house with a... colorful history.
The first is Ser Simon Tarly. He's a strong warrior, but more importantly I hear that he's apt to chase anything with two legs and two teats. If your daughter can ensnare him long enough to make it to the sept, you might find yourself with another knight in your household.
The other one is Aerion Flowers from House Starkwood. I don't know what his marriage prospects are, but there's no reason why he should feel above marrying into the same family as House Redwyne. Moreover, there are always whispers that he might make a better heir to Starkwood than Ser Symon."
He shows the lord the hilt of his sword, not daring to bear open steel in such a setting.
"I know you might not believe much in justice for these Longtable thugs, but I do. Give virtuous knights an opportunity to show Lord Eldon the true consequences of his actions."

"House Starkwood…" He pauses, mulling it over in his mind and swirling the wine around in his cup. "I remember the name, but the house is small, and even though he is a legitimized bastard I was hoping that I could maybe secure a Lord for my daughter. Now Aemon Caswell?" he leaves the suggestion open to the air.
Alliser looks around the room, "Ser Daemon risked his life for my honor against Otho. For that I am very grateful for, but it does lead me to wonder why." He looks around the room, then gestures to Daeron to lean in so that the middle aged lord could whisper something.
"If you seek justice from longtable, there is an option. It is dangerous though, and very risky. If you could procure a highborn witness to the event, or even convince some of the less savory knights to testify against their lord, then you could have Lord Starling push for a trial by seven. It is well known that in such trials accidents can occur and only men who could not count themselves as knights would not take up a position as one of the seven. There are some accidents may even make it so that the fat lord could never force himself on anyone ever again, leaving him without his favorite toy."
Alliser leans back, "However, finding a man willing to betray his lord is not cheap. Having a knight give up his landed status is nigh impossible, for he can live in comfort feeding from the same trough as lord piggy." He takes another swallow of wine, letting the sour liquid spill down his gullet.
"But a friend of your prince daemon has the power to see that a certain landed knight be elevated to a lord, or that his lands be sworn to another Lord so that the knight does not feel compelled to seek the company of pigs for his power." He looks at Daeron levelly, "But swimming in such waters is dangerous, even for someone well connected. Lord Leo tolerates me, but would not shed a tear if I were to end up at the bottom of the mander. I could deliver the final offer, but I do not think that being directly involved with our lord paramount is the grandest idea."
Allsier shrugs, "Or I can just keep speaking with the tournament master, maybe a few well placed coins can ensure that the longtable knights end up in the next round against Ser Vardis? Or that they at least that some of those that dine at the longtable end up in the melee."
Just to be clear, I am suggesting that you talk with lord Leo to get assurances to Ser Bryce that he will become a lord if he testifies against Lord Eldon. With the backing of the knights testimony it would be enough to allow Lord Starling to demand a trial by seven, drawing Lord Eldon into the combat, or diminishing his status so much that he is no longer considered a great lord and unworthy of the contract that was brokered by the king, giving Lord Yornwood a reason to break the contract without suffering embarrassment.

Daeron gives a furtive nod at Alliser's idea.
Gods help the realm if these are the schemes that constantly go on within lords' heads. I have one plot in my head and it's leaving me strained, I can't imagine having a thousand of these plans swirling around under my helm.
"Thank you for your advice Lord Levalle. I doubt that I can pull anybody into granting lands or titles, but perhaps Lord Merryweather has a knight who is more driven by honor than Ser Bryce who might be willing to testify. As it stands, the best option is to get Rennifer and/or Bryce into the melee where they might face the true fury of Kingsbridge."

A mischievous smile shows on the goateed Lord's face, "then I will see what I can do, Ser Daeron." He raised his purple sleeved arm, golden liquid swirling in smooth circles inside of the clear glass, "to a brighter future," he declares
