Ser Parmen was thrilled that his battle acumen was being recognized with a sub-commander position in the Army of the Reach. He had never met Ser Donnel before but he knew the man by reputation. So far the older knight had not disappointed. His arguments during the war council were clear and rooted in what was obviously a strong grasp of the tactical situation backed up by years of experience.
Parmen made his way over to introduce himself to his commander and to receive his orders for the mock battle,
"Ho, Ser Donnel. I am Ser Parmen Redwyne of Highever. We have not met before today but it is an honor to serve under you in this company. How may I best assist you for the battle ahead?"

Ser Donnel nods in recognition as he hastily wipes his brow: "Yes, the brother of both Redtusk and Garth of the kingsguard. Your presence itself will be dearly appreciated, and given your words earlier, may i presume you have some earlier experience with warfare?"
"These mock excersices might not be the most true to life, but I find that the principles are the same, knowing when and where to engage is key, regardless of if the weapons are blunted or not!"

"These mock excersices might not be the most true to life, but I find that the principles are the same, knowing when and where to engage is key, regardless of if the weapons are blunted or not!" Ser Parmen accepts the recognition due his famous brothers with a smile, "Aye, Ser. And also of Ser Sandor, the eldest of our brood and heir to the Arbor. Don't let him hear you; he gets upset when he is forgotten." Parmen laughs to show that he is in jest but the laugh never touches his eyes. " I was too young to serve during the last wars. I have used my sword a few times against bandits but those were minor skirmishes. Nothing to compare with the scope of this, even if it is a mock battle. No, if I deserve any credit it was for listening to my elder's war stories and lessons, and trying to think how I might perform if the time ever comes."
"I heard you say earlier that you wished to name our units after old heroes. Have you decided on any yet?"

"It is the nature of the heir to stay sensible, hard to chase glory while managing a house. An unknown lord is a hardworking lord. And nothing can commend a man more than his hard work."
"You must have listened carefully, learning the lessons of others saves you from many mistakes. Here you can watch as well as listen, I would be intrigued to know what you have learned!" Ser Donnel claps the younger man on his shoulder.
"I name units both to honor the past, but also to inspire the future. Mayhaps you have somebody you would wish to honor?" Ser Donnel asks curiously.

Parmen nods in appreciation of Ser Donnel's points regarding managing a house and the value of hard work. Highever is no lordship but managing its affairs is complicated enough. Thank the gods for Alys.
"I always look for opportunities to learn from others mistakes or successes. Having three brothers provides for ample opportunities, and I am sure that I have provided my fair share of object lessons for them as well," he notes wryly. "I look forward to providing whatever assistance I can in the upcoming battle."
"Names that honor the past and inspire the future...hmm...well my ancestors would be cross if I did not mention Ser Ryam from our line. And there is not a knight in the Realm, even in Dorne, who does not admire the Dragonknight."
He purses his lips in concentration. "The majority of our men will be from Highgarden's garrison and militia, correct? Mostly small folk? My maester taught us that House Dondarrion, the Marcher Lords, was founded by a lowborn soldier, a messenger, who saved the Storm King from the Dornishmen by delivering a crucial message on the eve of battle. Commitment to duty, courage in the face of adversaries, and the intelligence to take advantage of good fortune...all admirable qualities to teach. His example inspires everyone from the lowliest to the highest"
"Perhaps you remember some worthy fallen commoner who fought beside you in one of your previous battles? A soldier or archer whose courage and honor was disproportionate to his birth? Now could be the opportunity to honor your fallen friend and let his example serve as inspiration to those other smallfolk in our Army."

"Wise choices all! The dragonknight certainly needs to be honored. And a few of lower births being remembered should certainly be among the heroes of our past... But Do you not have anybody who would inspire you in particular? If you are to lead men, I want you to lead under a name you respect personally, not just old heroes best known from maesters scrolls?"
Ser Donnel points out to where Bryce walks about, seemingly reinvigourated. "I am sure there have been better fighters than him, better leaders, but when I fought in the marches, no old lords from maesterscrolls inspired me. Men like Bryce, who I myself knew, those inspired me, those made me fight on. We don't need people who everybody knows is great, we need the ones we feel the greatness of. I have little knowledge from Dorne, but I have plenty of feelings."
Ser Donnel then leans closer to the young man, to create confidentiality: "Remember that your words rarely count, the feelings those words provoke is all that matters. You possess wisdom, help people feel what you feel, and you will go far!"

"Your words are wise and like all good instructors I see that you demonstrate the value of your words with your actions. Help people feel what you feel, you say. You demonstrated that quality of character the other day. I have not yet thanked you for your actions during the riot a few days ago. Your words, your sense of strength and purpose, touched the panicked mob and guided them to safety. Your actions saved many lives." Not the least of which were my own and Malyk's.

"To aid the weak is the duty of a knight, to thank me is unnecessary. Although if you will use the same principles to guide our warforce to victory, it would make this old man proud." Ser Donnel laughs quietly and reaches out his hand on reflex. No, do not touch his hair, he isnt your family, he might feel insulted.Ser donnel reminds himself as he manages to changetahe direction of his hans last minute, instead clapping the young Redwyne on the shoulder.

"Give the commands and trust that I and my men will carry them through." The more that he talked to Ser Donnel the more the knight reminded him of a mixture of his uncles and his old master, Lord Fossoway.
"I thought that I heard during the selection of sides that your sons will be taking the Dornish side of the battle. A pity. From what little I have managed to see of the tourney they seem strong fighters, who will be fearsome to face." Careful. "I hope that as their first teacher you still have some tricks up your sleeves that the young knights have not yet learned."

With your leave I will go an check on my men. Mock battle or no, a loose saddle strap will drop you on your head all the same.
{OOC: Since we are now in Day 7 I'm happy to wrap this one up. Unless you have anything else that you wanted to accomplish.}
+1 Disposition towards Ser Donnel

"No tricks will be used, a simple hammer and anvil will be more than a young commamder can stop. Lead your men well, with the precision you show in inspection, and we will speak again shortly." Ser Donnel claps his subcommander on the back as he leaves, smiling to himself. +1 disposition.
