Ser Otho Bracken had surely not expected to face Ser Daemon Waters when he issued his insult to Lord Levalle's face, though to his credit he does not flinch. Lord Tyrell demanded that the matter should be settled with tourney lance and longswords, but Ser Otho cares nothing for that part, entering the field on foot with a pike six yards long. Ser Daemon shrugs and dismounts, the sight of Blackfyre being drawn dampens the darkening mood at Lord Tyrell, though when Ser Otho instead opts for a vicious looking spiked morningstar, a brutal weapon well suited for slaughter, but hardly appropriate for noble combat, he shakes with anger. Ser Daemon seems not to care and takes the initiative, charging at Ser Otho with his blade held high, then suddenly changing it to a low swing catching the inside of Ser Otho's elbow. The reply is a savage battering that smashes the ornament on Ser Daemon's head, and would surely have ended the life of most knights not so able to defend themselves. Ser Daemon deftly slashes a deep cut behind the mighty knee of the Brute of Bracken and pushes him backwards, but only granting a brief respite before the beast comes back for another round of blows. And further in line with his despicable nature, he shouts out his yield the moment that Ser Daemon regains the initiative. From the side-lines of the lists Titus cheers on to Ser Daemon's excellent swordplay. Politics aside, the man truly was The Warrior reborn.

Lord Alliser applauded vigorously, it is a shame that neither one seriously wounded the other. Nothing that brackens Maester can not patch up. However the fact that he did not change his tactics could be a good wedge to dive home. "the God's have shown the truth of the matter, the Blackguard has been defeated. The blood he sought has been denied him, as his false claims against my family have been disproven." He gestures towards the Victor, "the true Knight has carried this day."

Roland took up a place near Ser Titus, having enjoyed the man's company on recent days.
He cheered loudly for Ser Daemon, despite having faced down Fireball he held the man in high esteem. Such skill, such honour to dismount and nobly deal with such vile tactics from Ser Otho. Still, that brute can fight even if he lacks the Warrior's honour, just as it was with the Dornish.
It was a relief to see the Greatest of the Great Bastard live up to his word on the man to Laena Pyre, unaware as he was of her role in bringing this duel about. It was easier to defend the man and criticise his over zealous agitators when the man himself was such a shining example of the knightly oaths.
Whether he intended it or not, Ser Roland's words would have political overtones to some: "For House Blackfyre! For the Sword!"
His squire, Hugh Bracken, joined him: "Get him, Ser Daemon, get him, get him, he’s right there!"

The battle was brief, but fierce and for its few moments Daeron held his breath. He knew that Blackfyre would win, but still... Otho was a brutal warrior who could be counted on to cheat, but after he yielded Daeron gave a sigh of relief.
"Chivalry has carried the day! Blackfyre has shown his honor and strength!"

Ashara watches but keeps her myriad thoughts to herself.
If only all of his followers were as decent. The beastly bracken might have acted against Ser Mikkel because of old conflicts, but too many do ill deeds in Blackfyre's name. If Bittersteel is half as brutish as his kinsman, I could very well believe the charge of kinslaying... it certainly seemed to hit a nerve, from what Laena was saying. Normally I would expect outrage and indignation, like Ser Roland's reaction to the rumor I spread about Denyse - Not daggers in the night and murdered septas. If that really was connected, it seems rather unlikely. I'd be more inclined to believe that Eldon the rapist ordered it and ordered the daggers left behind - obviously planted evidence makes the person that evidence point to seem innocent whether or not they are.
Justice was done on this matter, but Ashara still had an ill feeling. This was not the end of these troubles.

Like many others, Balon came to see the Beast of Bracken fight the Warrior Reborn. Not that he wanted to see them fight. They should be on the same side, striving for the same goals. Not injuring one another over some nobody in service to House Starkwood and Lord Spongeholder.
Balon stood motionless with his arms crossed as the two fought. Balon winced when Otho hit Daemon but breathed a sigh of relief as Daemon recovered and knocked Otho down. Even to Balon, attacking then yielding was an dishonorable act. Hmmpf At least they're both alive. They duel was over quickly and Balon cheered along with the others, "For Daemon! For Blackfyre!"

"look at how Otho, who claims to support the blackfyre cause, use weapons meant to kill, directly against the orders of Lord Leo!" Alliser shakes his head, "a true sign of how those that seek to use the warrior reborn do not care for him. He stood against injustice and those that claim to support him try to kill him instead! Is it any wonder why he feels so ambivalent towards them?" Day 5 B&b reaction thread KS tn 9 blood support (maybe yssla support?): 4d6k3 12

Mikel was surprised to see Ser Daemon take the field. He felt inspired by his courage when though Otho stood with pike in hand with his intentions clear, Daemon dismounted and attacked the Brute. It was quick and violent and while he was happy that Ser Daemon won it was a bitter sweet happiness.
He ignored the rules until he needed them. If only Ser Daemon had ended him, or if Lord Tyrell would seek justice for his second breach of the rules. Another show about justice without any justice in sight.
Mikel was dismayed to see such examples put on with so little effect. The only consolation was the beating Otho must have taken to yield. Perhaps he would die of his wounds.

Cleyton clicks his tongue a uncommon gesture for him, but after realizing the atrocity that was Ser Otho from the start. While not a fan of Ser Daemon he had nothing against him either, in fact he was a very loud supporter of him and while he never voiced his true wish to see such brute dead, he hopes the injuries are more than enough for him to slowly suffer, that is if he even has any courage to even show himself in public for a while.

Ser Daemon fought like a hero from legend; the Brute fought like himself, a dangerous and dishonorable bully dressed up as a knight.
At least the insult to his wife and her family had been answered and Otho had left the field with a wound. Parmen welcomed the victory and the opportunity to see the true measure of Ser Daemon's weapons skill and sense of honor.
