Ser Aerion stands beside his temporary squire, a no-name man commonly used by those without a current squire. He gives himself a moment to take a deep breath, and whispers a short prayer to the warrior to lend him strength in today's tilts. Today you make your name known to the realms. Win, and you take Seastar's favour, and all the glory that entails.
He double checks the straps on his snow white destrier before swinging his leg over the well worn red leather saddle. The squire hands him his lance and offers a few words of encouragement, offering his take on how the field looks and how his opponent's mount is behaving. Aerion thinks over a moment how he'd like to proceed. Does he play it safe, aggressive, or something in between. A flash of recollection in seeing a lord take off his opponents helmet the day previous, he quickly forms a plan for how he'd accomplish something similar. Set in his intent, he bows to the crowd and gestures to Lady Shiera with his cream coloured lance, before taking his place and then, at the signal, making his charge down towards his half brother. Joust D5 R2 - Know your opponent - Awareness (Tournaments) - vs TN: 5d6k3 15Joust D5 R2 P1- A3 + HiS + EF + N + SO + 1D (pious) - vs TN 15: 6d6k4+10 25 - 3 DoS, so it should knock his helmet off if if he stays in the saddle. Note: not sure if you can combine Noble and Show Off since they both effect damage dealt. If it can stack, +3 to the TN for him to stay in the saddle. Joust D5 R2 - Stay in Saddle + HiS - Ride (AH) - vs TN ?: 6d6k4-1 21 - should be success regardless of Blood Raven's roll. Will do a catch breath action if he doesn't yield after losing his helmet.

Ser Brynden attemps a risky tactic, knowing he is unlikely to hold his saddle against such a skilled opponent, he throws himself at Ser Aerion with all the force he can muster behind the tip of his lance. This of course makes him utterly exposed and he is artistically unhorsed with ease, though he seems to have accepted that outcome from the moment he spurred on his horse. With Dark Sister in his hand, he should have the advantage on foot, if he only could bring his opponent down with him. N, EF, HiS, A3, HS: 6d6k4+9 28 No chance of staying in the saddle. PR: 12, AR 10 That's a 3 DoS for both, with noble that means TN 18, 21 with Heightened stakes, now tourney knight doesn't give you +2 on the stay in saddle, so unless you're getting a bonus from somewhere I don't see , your result should be 19. That looks like Aerion takes 18 damage before AR (4.5 per DoS (3), and again for falling off), one CyB before rolling initiate with swords drawn 2 yards apart. That kinda looks like a scenario with the odds stacked against you.

Aerion charges down the field toward his half brother, eye's locked on his target the entire way. As his lance connects, his opponent is blasted from his saddle and does two full rotations backwards before landing squarely on his back. Ser Brynden's lance strikes true even as he is lifted from his saddle, and it shatters against Aerion's shield in an explosion of wooden splinters. The younger knight barely is able to hold on as he's forced into a heavy lean, but manages to retain his position atop his mount.
He turns and helps his opponent up off the ground, making sure he's no worse for wear, before proceeding to the waiting Lady Sheira to receive her blessing.
Aerion spends a DP to reduce Ser Brynden's roll to 2 DoS, enabling Aerion to stay in the saddle. Victory then goes to Aerion, securing Lady Seastar's favour as well as progressing to round 3 vs. Prince Maekar.
Since he's not reduced to 0 health, no shot at choosing outcome, so I assume regular ransom of Destrier and Full Plate is forthcoming.

Superior Destrier and Full Plate, actually.
And +1 chivalry, +2 glory and +1 influence methinks it was.

Even better! I know that we ransom their equipment back, but could I then go have a suit of superior plate made for me? What's the timeline on such a commission?
Aerion quips about it being a shame he can't ask for Dark Sister as ransom instead, but alas, he'd have to get his hands on Valyrian Steel somehow down the road. His tone makes it clearly not a threat or implying he'd steal one.
