Would it however have an effect in my duel with Balon?

Would it however have an effect in my duel with Balon? Based on the description of True Knight I'd say no but I also might have a slight bias.

I think it's a stretch to call it fighting for her honor in this case.

Much as IC Roland would like to see you victorious v Balon, OOC I think it won't apply, as it notes it applies during trial by combat for those unable to defend themselves (doesn't apply here) or a trial of seven (this isn't one). Good luck to both of you! Edit: beaten by ninja post from higher authority, our glorious narrator.

Yeah if I had intrigued you into challenging Balon, that would be one thing. This seems more like a duel for Balon's honor than mine. I still hope you win, for both IC and OOC reasons.
EDIT for clarification: OOC reasons regarding the shape of the narrative, not anything OOC against Balon's player. I don't think anyone would have misunderstood what I meant, but I don't want to give the wrong impression.

Oh come on now! Who doesn't secretly root for the bad guy?

You could always fudge your dice rolls to lose.
Back in dragonsdance, I was considering the option of seeing if maybe Theo could challenge the Blackwood man that was punished by exile and demanded trial by combat and then do exactly that so that the Blackwood knight got exonerated to pursue Tullison objective of making the settlement favor Blackwood allies. Of course, that would be losing on purpose IC rather than fudging to lose on purpose OOC.
By my recollection, I think other PC's thought that Theo actively trying to kill him was a more likely scenario.

Ashara's game is deep. @father - it was fun looking at various house forums and seeing people correctly/incorrectly guessing each other's intentions at times. Was a great group of players and pleased to have a mix of familiar faces and new players here. As with Baelon, it is very helpful to have a PC or two adopt murkier methods and help drive the plot. Captures setting well.

"Turns out that Lords Caswell and Fossoway were the one who poisoned Lord Jon." Are you trying to tell me that the two lords with the clear public motive to murder someone actually *did* murder them? ...I'm not sure whether to be shocked or completely unsurprised. Also: Through Ser Aemon Flowers, It seems they plan to do the same thing to our Lord. Dagnabbit! It's always the charming, polite ones. On the plus side, I probably don't need to worry about competition from Lady Lysette over him much longer?

Assuming that Addam isn't completely wrong, of course.
Hmm... who would stand to gain... or want payback.... Probably Lord Merryweather

Assuming that Addam isn't completely wrong, of course. Well, yes. He *did* crit-fail the roll, so the intelligence *is* rather dubious, but still, the thought was amusing enough that I thought I'd point it out.
