Or maybe less.
Those named are of import or noteworthiness, that is to say, there are many many more noble sons and daughters, siblings, knights and retainers, but for the most part, these will be relegated to the roles of "background extra".

Characters noteworthy for their importance in the Realm, the Reach or otherwise in the story | King Daeron II Targaryen By some called Daeron the Good, the king is seen as as wise, just, and kind-hearted. He is a cultured, scholarly man who keeps company with maesters and other learned men. While few would deny that his reign has seen prosperity and the rule of law to the realms, he is not a man who would inspire others to follow him, or commands respect and authority by his voice and visage. Soft and round of belly, the king is not even knighted, a fact that many a noble readily finds questionable, noting that even the Old King, whom he frequently cites as inspiration trained hard with the Kingsguard until he were every bit a warrior worthy of wielding Blackfyre, and personally slew enemies of the crown with it. This king, some detractors might say in their cups, would be more likely to cut off his own foot with it than to strike his foe. | | Prince Baelor Targaryen Known as Baelor Breakspear after defeating Daemon Blackfyre in the final tilt of the tourney in honor of Princess Daenerys marriage, the heir to the throne is a fine warrior, and seems to be all that can be wished in a knight, lord, or heir. He is also a man who wins respect with ease, and as open-handed and just as his father. However, too many men look upon Baelor's dark hair and eyes and mutters that he is more Martell than Targaryen. Some are also bothered by his namesake, "the feeblest king who ever sat the Iron Throne". | | Prince Maekar Targaryen Thickly-built and powerful-looking, the youngest of King Daeron's sons is every bit as stern as his appearance suggests. A harsh man, quick to judge and to condemn. Unlike his brother Baelor, he is not charismatic and not one to make friends and allies easily. | | Ser Ambrose Butterwell, Hand of the King. The Heir to Whitewalls is learned man renowned for his wit that probably would have been sent to the Citadel to study were he not the first born. Exactly the sort of person that King Daeron seeks for his counsel, while he has earned his spurs like most noble men, a talking point among some is his lack of prowess in tourney and battle, few outside the Riverlands can recall having seen him compete, and he has never been forced to use his sword for real. | | {Grand Maester Alford} Having been serving the Iron Throne for over four decades, Grand Maester Alford passed away nearly 90 years of age, it is said that the only duty he had the strength left to attend in the end is to sit upon the small council, with his assistant, Maester Wyman, having taken upon the rest. | | Lord Robert Hayford, The Master of Laws Alongside Ambrose Butterwell, Lord Hayford was one of the staunchest supporters of King Daeron at court when he started to push back against his father's excesses. | | Ser Tywin Lannister, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. The uncle of Lord Damon Lannister proved himself during the Conquest of Dorne, was appointed by King Baelor to replace Ser Olyver Oakheart. As well regarded for his deflective wit and humor as he is for his loyalty, prudence and skill at arms. | | Ser Gwayne Corbray of the Kingsguard. One of the finest swordsmen in the realm wielding the Valyrian sword "Lady Forlorn" | | Ser Willem Wylde of the Kingsguard. The first appointment to the White Cloaks made by King Daeron, best known for earning his spurs by single-handedly defeating three bandit knights in battle. | | Ser Garth Redwyne of the Kingsguard. Believed to have been chosen above his older and more capable brother, Ser Roland known as Redtusk, on account of the questionable loyalty to the crown of the latter. | | Ser Daemon Waters, son of Princess Daena the Defiant. Best known as Daemon Blackfyre Taking the name of Daemon Blackfyre for the sword bestowed upon him by his father. Almost inhumanly beautiful, Daemon looks every inch the warrior, and many claims he strongly resembles portraits of Aegon the Conqueror. A man of considerable charm and strength, mastering all weapons of the battlefield, but with the sword Blackfyre in hand he was said to fight like the Warrior himself. He wins friends easily and women are drawn to him. In the eyes of many, Ser Daemon is all King Daeron should have been and more, the very image of the perfect King. Someone any many would gladly fight and die for. He is highly regarded for his honor and gallantry. | | Ser Aegor Rivers, son of Lady Barbra Bracken, frequently called Bittersteel. Aegor looks like a warrior, being lean, light, and tall. Never smiling and quickly irritated or offended. Known to be the most vocal supporter of the claim that King Aegon IV meant for Daemon Blackfyre to be king. | | Ser Brynden Rivers, son of Lady Melissa Blackwood, often named Bloodraven for his red birthmark. Brynden has milk white skin, red eyes and is a shade under six feet tall and very thin, gaunt, with a grim forbidding aspect. Given Dark Sister to wield by Aegon IV, he is capable enough with the Valyrian Sword, but his true talent is with the bow. He is also followed by a company of archers named the Raven's Teeth. | | Lady Mya Rivers, daughter of Melissa Blackwood. Once nicknamed the terror of the Red Keep as King Aegon IV allowed the four year old free reign to do mischief, so while her mother was well loved, few were sad to see the eldest daughter go back to Raventree with her. Now a woman fully grown, tall and lithe and said to enjoy the freedoms of being a great bastard. Her Valyrian features did make some suggest a match with Prince Baelon to strengthen the blood of the dragon in the line, but the king has likely been dissuaded by her demeanor and suspected promiscuity.
| | Lady Gwenys Rivers, daughter of Melissa Blackwood. Just one year younger than her sister, but they are just as unlike in personality as in appearance, Gwenys is the image of her mother in all ways, kind and modest and a Blackwood through and though. It is speculated that Lord Blackwood and Bloodraven may be seeking a marriage for her.
| | Lady Shiera Waters, daughter of Serenei of Lys, usually known as Shiera Seastar. A renowned beauty and the youngest of the great bastards, an avid reader, proficient in many languages. It is spoken in the Red Keep that a fierce intellect and knowledge of the hearts of men far beyond her years hides behind her enchanting mismatched eyes.
| | {Ser Walton Wyl} The uncle of Lord Wyl was well past his prime, yet most agreed that he has aged well. Know as a formidable tactician, by most considered the equal of Ser Quentyn Ball, his predecessor as the king's master at arms. During King Daeron I's conquest of Dorne, Ser Walton forced the young king to bypass Wyl through goat tracks in the mountains, leaving the lands of his house relatively unscathed. For this House Wyl earned some enmity from the Yronwoods, whose domains were severely ravaged by an army that had little in terms of supplies with them as the Boneway remained closed until the submission of Sunspear. He died in a jousting mishap against Ser Balon Blackbriar at The Black Tourney of Highgarden
| | Lord Leo Tyrell, known as the longthorn, Lord Paramount of the Mander Best known for his prowess at the list and generally considered the best jouster of all of Westeros, some whispering that he is a glory hound whose only redeeming quality as a lord is his willingness to surround himself with good counsel and listen to it, others would claim this makes him a better lord than most. He commanded the foray into the Prince's Pass during King Aegon IV's short and ill-fated campaign.
| | Lady Rhonda Tyrell The lady of Highgarden is an elegant woman that spends much of her time curating the rather impressive collection of artwork that House Tyrell has acquired, and is also skilled on the high harp. She is known to appreciate artistic talent of all kinds. She is also the model of a proper and pious lady, and have for twenty years thought good manners to dozens of the scions of the Reach
| | Lady Amerei Tyrell Lord Tyrell's only daughter, a blonde beauty of seven and ten, is one of the most sought ladies of the Reach, she has served as lady in waiting for the Queen for the past few years, well mannered, a good dancer and surpassing her mother on the high hard. It is said that Lord Leo is extremely fond of her, incapable of denying her anything she asks for. It is also whispered that she is prickly, quick to anger, slow to forgive and slower to forget.
| | Lady Margaery Tyrell The grandmother of Lord Leo is past 80 and mostly keeps to her own quarters, though she does show her face often enough to show that she is alive and in good health for her age. Having served as regent for both her son and grandson, some suspect that the shrewd old lady may be the true power in Highgarden, possibly holding back her grandson's inclination to openly support Daemon Blackfyre.
| | Butterbumps Some say that the fool of Highgarden mimics the high septon in that he gives up his given name in favor of Butterbumps and each is then referred to in accordance to their quirks. The present one sometimes referred to as Butterbumps the dwarf, though most such monikers are earned posthumously, so Butterbumps or just The Dwarf is common. An exceedingly wicked and witty man, word around Highgarden is that he was once the main attraction of a mummer's troupe plying their trade around the Narrow Sea. He delights particularly at driving young ladies to discomfort in public.
| | Lady Alicent Yronwood Much speculation surrounds lady Alicent and the long overdue fulfillment of the marriage contract between her father and Lord Merryweather, a lady in waiting for Lady Rhonda until such a time as she marries. Her looks have made many a man dream that the tales of Dornish promiscuity are true, and she seems to delight in keeping such hopes alive.
| | Lord Reynald Florent A lord that only participates in tourneys just to remind his peers that he is also a knight, Lord Reynald is a man preferring the courtly intrigue and politics, and has been known to compare excessive training with tourney lances as knights compensating for lacking in other departments.
| | Ser Aemon Flowers The natural nephew of Lord Florent and a great bastard besides. An accomplished, handsome and well-spoken knight that earned his spurs from Lord Leo Tyrell. His looks turns the head of many a young lady. And more than one lord is believed to be inclined to grant him the hand their daughters.
| | {Lord Jon Hightower} His first marriage produced no heirs, and his first wife, a Fossoway, died under mysterious circumstances, invoking the enmity of Cider Hall. He chose his second wife for her proven fertility, her having previously given birth to two healthy bastards, widely believed to be King Aegon IV's get, for whom Lord Jon served as hand for a time. She has repaid this choice by granting him four sons and a daughter to carry out his line. Murdered by poison during The Black Tourney of Highgarden in 994, leaving his grandson, a boy of five as the new Lord Hightower.
| | Lady Melara Hightower The widow and second wife of Lord Jon Hightower and thirty years his junior, Lady Melara of House Costayne was a mother of two bastards and thus of proven fertility when they wed. Their marriage have proven fruitful, with four sons and one daughter, though not without rumor that the Costaynes had a hand in the death of Lord Jon's first wife so that she might marry him.
| | Lady Rhonda Hightower The widow of Ser Garth Hightower, the firstborn son of Lord Jon, and mother to Lord Brynden Higthower, a boy of five, Lady Rhonda, once of House Redwyne, has been thrust into the middle of a situation unplanned for as Lord Jon left no instructions as to who should serve as regent of House Hightower and a number of family members putting their own name forward for the position.
| | Ser Abelar Hightower The second son of Lord Jon Hightower, and the eldest surviving, Ser Abelar is a young knight eager to prove his worth, brought up on the legends of men such as Ser Brynden Hightower wielding the Hightower ancestral sword of Vigilance, an honor now held by his cousin Ser Dennis. He is not without talent, but has so far shown little suggesting his own name might earn the same fame as Hightower champions hallowed in the rich history of Oldtown.
| | Ser Raymun Hightower The nephew of Lord Jon, and once groomed as his heir during such a time as Lady Hightower was assumed unable to provide her husband with a heir of his own body. Ser Raymun is a seasoned knight, participating in the battle at the prince's pass and experienced in the ways of governing, having been entrusted with the stewardship of Oldtown when his uncle served as Hand to King Aegon IV.
| | Lady Janna Hightower The Grandniece of the departed Lord Jon Hightower is a clever maid on the cusp of womanhood, with a face full of lively curiosity and a hint of dreaminess, always considered a precocious and delightful child, she is said to be held in high regard by Lady Rhonda Tyrell, but also whispered among such young knights and squires who have fancied themselves her suitors, discarding most of them for not being mature enough, clever enough, skilled enough or gallant enough. Though having a knight such as Ser Roland Cordwayner ride with her favor at Highgarden suggests that her aspirations may not be too lofty. Given her age, such fancies as she harbors may be entertained for a short while longer.
| | Septon Roswyn Born as Roswyn Blackbriar, though given up to the faith at an early age as is tradition for sons of House Blackbriar deemed unfit for knighthood. He has risen fast in the hierarchy of The Faith, tending to the castle sept at the Red Keep during the reign of King Aegon IV, and reportedly was a close adviser and confidante, turning a blind eye to such acts committed by that king as surely must have affronted The Seven. Some believe that royal patronage granted him elevation to the Most Devout. He now tends to The Starry Sept in Oldtown, the most prestigious position in The Faith behind that of the High Septon, though some claim that he was granted such a plum appointment so that his influence over the High Septon's inner circle can be diminished.
| | Lord Eldon Merryweather A man that both in temperament and body shape resembles King Aegon IV, referred to as Lord Piggy behind his back and now frequently also Lord Abomination, Lord Eldon can still ride at the lists, but requires assistance getting up on his horse. An ill-mannered glutton with a well known taste for whores and serving girls that is only matched by his considerable wealth and arrogance. He was betrothed to the lovely Alicent Yronwood, the marriage having been delayed well past her flowering for reasons that most now assume to be caused by her refusal to marry a man such as him, earning him the ire of those who helped arrange the contract, doubling the dismay when he insulted his betrothed, her house and broke the contract. He has since earned the enmity of House Starling when he allegedly raped Lady Lysette's handmaiden without consequence.
| | Ser Rennifer Waters The champion of Lord Eldon Merryweather, Ser Rennifer Waters is the bastard of Ser Walgrave Oakheart and Lady Joanna Thorne, Longtable agreed to foster him and he became a fast friend of the young heir, the present Lord Merryweather. It is said that he had the strength of a normal man by the age of twelve, and possessing a talent with sword and lance surpassed by few others, but it is the morningstar that he prefers. Sworn shield and companion of Lord Eldon through most of the deeds that have blackened the name of Longtable for the past twenty years, he is not held in high regard and considered to be among the foulest of characters, his spurs he received from Lord Eldon himself, it is said that Ser Illifer Pommingham whom he had squired for refused to dub him on the shoulder. What is known is that Ser Illifer left the service of Longtable shortly thereafter, only to be brutally slain by Ser Rennifer in the next tourney, the first of many men, knights and otherwise, to fall to his lance, sword or morningstar. Few men have ever faced Ser Rennifer in a duel of honor and lived.
| | Ser Norren Wythers A cousin of Lord Stannis Wythers, a competent fighter and jouster with a foul disposition. Allegedly left Squirrel Hall after brutally beating up Ser Vardis over a smallfolk girl they both fancied. Taking service at Longtable where the lord is known not to care about anything more than the ability and willingness of his knights to defend him and above all kill for him. Noted for losing his eye to Ser Roland Cordwayner in the joust and surviving the riots at The Black Tourney of Highgarden. | | Lord Walgrave Oakheart A veteran knight, truly formidable in his prime and still notable for his prowess though his age is catching up to him. Earning his spurs as a squire during the conquest of Dorne, he saw his father cut down in the ambush upon the young king, himself taken prisoner. Took terrible revenge and no captives in the battle of the Prince's Pass. Without a doubt the most prominent of those who openly criticizes King Daeron's accord with Sunspear.
| | {Ser Jasper Flowers} Ser Jasper is Lord Walgrave's natural brother, the son of a lesser lady in waiting at Sunspear that died in childbirth, it has been implied that she was raped. Under the peace accord negotiated by King Baelor, House Oakheart was made to accept the responsibility of providing for the late lord's son. Highly disliked by Lord Walgrave, who in his cups have been known to imply that his father would never dishonor Lady Oakheart and that the parenthood is false. Ser Jasper has been working hard all his life to gain recognition for his qualities, angry and resentful, he is not easy to like, but he is a swordsman of remarkable talent and is regarded as being quite gallant, at least for a bastard.
Slain by unknown assailants travelling back to Old Oak after fighting under Lord Blackwoods banner in the Riverlands.
| | Lord Gormon Peake Widely considered the most powerful man in the Reach after Lords Tyrell and Hightower, Lord Gormon or "Gormy" among friends, a formidable knight despite being a decade past his prime, but best known for his wits and charm and taking all the lessons thought to him by his grandfather Lord Unwin, once the regent and hand of King Aegon III. During the reign of King Aegon IV, Lord Gormon secured many favors and offices for Starpike, and some say that true power in the Reach was held between him and Lord Jon Hightower in those years. The fortunes of House Peake took a noticable downward turn as most of Lord Gormon's family members and other allies that had been granted honors and offices under King Aegon IV were among the first to be swept away by King Daeron's reforms. It is also said that the king distrust Lord Gormon due to their many clashes when he was Prince of Dragonstone, and that Lord Gormon wishes for a change upon the Iron Throne so that he may return to his days of glory.
| | Lady Tanda Peake The daughter of Lord Gormon is a lady in waiting at Highgarden where her singing voice have received much praise from Lady Rhonda. A maid of Five of Ten, Lady Tanda has the Valyrian features of her mother and the piercing blue gaze of her father. Elegant and slender, her beauty is only matched by a pride bordering on jealousy-prone arrogance.
| | Ser Roland Redwyne Called Redtusk for slaying a Dornishman with the tusk of a boar that he kept as trophy, the second son of Lord Redwyne is widely regarded as the finest knight in Westeros as far as the Reach is concerned, while not quite the equal of Lord Tyrell at the lists, he is the only man in recent memory to have been able to hold his ground against Daemon Blackfyre in single combat in the grand melee.
| | Lord Thaddeus Rowan Sometimes referred to as the conciliator for his role in securing the peaceful joining of Dorne into the Seven Kingdoms, Lord Thaddeus is wise and reserved, respected but generally not liked by those who disapprove of the accord. It is speculated that he does not sit on the small council because the king prefers his abilities to be used to counter the whispers and wishes of rebellion in the Reach.
| | Ser Simon Tarly Tall, broad of shoulder, strong, capable with sword and lance and a good jouster, too. With a chiseled face, Ser Simon Tarly might have been the envy of his peers and the dream of the ladies. If only he were just those things and charming besides. But Ser Simon Tarly is gruff and moody when sober, and widely known for his inability to temper himself once under the influence of strong drink, his only loyal companion. An arrogant bully and a sore looser with a propensity for taking out his many frustrations on those weaker than himself, House Tarly is said to thank the seven that he is not the firstborn, though more wicked tongues suggests that they curse The Gods for the cruelty of being disgraced by such an ignoble scion.
| | Ser Aubrey Ambrose Ser Aubrey is known for three things, his gallantry, his graceful swordplay and his immaculately groomed mustache, beard and hair. Widely respected and held in high regard across the Reach, he remains unmarried keeping up the hopes of many a young lady and piques the curiosity of older ones who must surely wonder why House Ambrose have yet to secure a good marriage and alliance.
| | Ser Quentyn Ball Called Fireball for his fiery temper and red hair (now turned gray), a moniker he has embraced and turned into his personal coat of arms. Widely regarded as one of the strongest military minds in the Realm and served as King Aegon IV's master at arms, one of the few sensible appointments. According to himself, King Aegon IV promised him a position in the kingsguard and he had made his wife join the silent sisters so that he may accept this honor, though when a position opened up under King Daeron, he was overlooked in favor of Ser Willem Wylde. Ser Quentyn resigned his post at the Red Keep in fury and has ever since been among the most vocal opponents of King Daeron's rule.
| | Lady Falyse Blackbar While most would consider her a rare beauty, the color of her skin marks Lady Falyse as very much her mother's daughter, and her mother has, as many a Reachman will not hesitate to point out, the very unfortunate flaw of being born on the wrong side of the Red Mountains. Her face has lost the sweet innocence of a young maid after a brutal attack on her family by what appears to be anti-Dornish fanatics have thrown her into a position where others look to her for guidance on how to lead House Blackbar in these trying times, or seek to take control for themselves.
| | Ser Guyard Blackbar The uncle of the late Lord Vardis has recently returned to Bandallon from his position at Lord Hightower's court to assist his house following the massacre near Bitterbridge. In his advancing years, he has been a valued and trusted aide to Lord Jon, respected for his direct and honorable ways among the Hightower bannermen, though not one for making friends among them and widely considered to relentlessly pursue his own advancement though never to the point of conflict with the ineterests of his liege, but always having an eye on titles and honors for himself or his sons.
| | {Lord Bryce Bridges} A hero of the young king's campaign against Dorne, Lord Bryce seemed to have aged at least a decade in the few short years since his wife of 40 years died, remembered as a good-natured if boisterous man full of life, he now had a more haggard appearance, as the spark left him along with his wife. He has left his lands and attended Lord Leo's court at Highgarden, he seems to have regained some of his appetites and humor in the year that he has been a guest here. Murdered by poison at The Black Tourney of Highgarden.
| | {Lord Desmond Bridges} Lord Bryce's Grandnephew and designated heir was also appointed regent following the Lord's departure a year ago. This shift have been positively felt at The Laughing Stream, with him instituting many reforms, wisely starting with those giving immediate results before tackling more long-term issues. He ascended to lordship following the murder of his granduncle at Highgarden. Lord Desmond was a deeply serious man, his half-Dornish blood made him few friends, other children of nobles would mock him, and as a result, he rarely smiled and lived a strict life with few luxuries. He was murdered by unknown assassins along with Ser Dagos Manwoody in an ambuscade on his own lands.
| | Ser Farman Flowers, Lord Protector of The Laughing Stream As his grandmother is the elder sister of Ser Desmond's, the legitimization of Ser Farman could have made him the rightful her of Lord Bridges, although this is not a claim anyone has pressed, and Ser Desmond had been groomed as the heir for years before the legitimization. Ser Farman is a man sharing his father's appetites, but also having inherited much of the charm that King Aegon was known for in his youth. He is said to have been highly displeased by his cousin's reforms, the cutbacks on the stipends to the family members in particular. It would appear, however, that he had not cut back on his consumption accordingly. Following the death of his cousin, who had briefly ascended to lordship, he married Lady Alysanne, sister to the late Lord Desmond and his heir by blood, a sensible union to consolidate their claims and prevent further infighting. It very much appears that it is Ser Farman, styled Lord Protector has assumed all duties and authorities of governance.
| | Lady Ysilla Flowers A wild spirited young lady, Ser Farman's twin has been called the joy of the Laughing Stream by Lord Bryce who constantly doted upon her. Her father gave her the greatest gift of all in his will, the freedom of nobody being allowed to tell her what to do. She is known to run around the castle barefoot and pull pranks with childish glee, but she knows better than to do such things when the Bridges have guests.
| | Lord Armond Caswell The young Lord Armond is known for his drive and intensity, his father finished reconstructing Bitterbridge after it was razed to the ground by Lord Ormond Hightower during the dance, but not without incurring heavy debts to the Iron Bank, debts which House Hightower had been made to agree to repay half of by King Aegon III, though Lord Jon proved tardy in fulfilling his obligations, and convinced King Aegon IV to undo the decree, ripping open the wound once again. Lord Caswell seems to be able to focus on ensuring that he will become debt free and ignore the calls of others of his house to take revenge.
| | {Lady Helicent Cockshaw} A rare example of a lady regnant, Lady Helicent was prickly and sharp of tongue, and while openly supportive of Daemon Blackfyre, she was also by many considered an example of why a lady should not rule. She was once denied the honor of being seated at the Queen's table at a banquet in King's Landing while "ladies of lesser station" were so allowed. Ever since, she has had nothing but contempt for the Queen, and a habit of voicing it. She disappeared attending a costume ball held by Lord Eldon Merryweather and Ser Farman Flowers in the honor of the departed Lord Bryce Bridges, and is now presumed dead.
| | Lady Maegelle Cordwayner Widely believed to be the true ruler of Hammerhaal, her husband is said to never make a single decision without her approval. The considerably younger sister of Lord Fossoway, she had clearly fancied herself a more suitable match than one beneath her station. After marrying Lord Ilyn, her shadow has been looming over him, examples of this includes that several sworn swords that had been in his service for years suddenly left it to be replaced by men who are undoubtedly loyal to her.
| | Ser Normyn Flowers One of Aegon IV's great bastards, and the natural brother of Lord Ilyn, confident, handsome and charming, an exceptional swordsman and a renowned jouster, Ser Normyn is everything lord brother is not. He earned his spurs at the Battle of the Prince's Pass, and has since come to assume the responsibilities of being the champion of the house and the leader of its forces. There are many who believe that all the responsibilities of running the house are shared between him and Lady Maegelle, with Lord Ilyn merely vax-sealing their decisions.
| | Lady Jeyne Cuy A protege of Lady Rhonda Tyrell that found her lady in waiting's skill at the harp delightful, Lady Jeyne was known as clever and maybe a little bit mischievous during her days at Highgarden, haveing a bit of male following and leading them on. She has been married to the gallant Ser Lancel Cuy for several years now, though she has yet to be with child.
| | Ser Eustace Daverhyl Called the Vulture, partly for his birdlike features, mostly for his Dornish heritage and the association to the infamous outlaws of The Red Mountains of past generations. Some say it has to do with how greedily he feasts upon the carcass that is Mustard Hall, but surely such are merely the wicked talk of those who cannot stand the sight of the Dornish? The oldest son of Lord Karl, though not his heir, he has assumed most of the responsibilities of his aging father following the death of his older half-brother. He has granted honors and positions to his younger brothers, with these and other appointments in his father's name, one might think that he is preparing the ground for seizing his nephew's birthright once Lord Karl passes into the stranger's embrace, but surely, only wicked men who cannot stand the sight of the Dornish would entertain such talk?
| | Lord Marq Durwell A favorite of gossip, Lord Marq Durwell is one of the best jousters the Reach has to offer, and also one of the most well spoken and good looking lords, and on top of it, he is unwed despite having just passed thirty years of age. He has a ready smile, a quick wit and laughter and enjoys a good jest. Some speculate that he prefers men, but most do not believe it. Well aware of the rumors, he seems to have made a game out of asking for a lady's favor. Lord Marq is a man with many friends and admirers that would offer a strong boon to any cause he chose to commit himself to.
| | Lady Daena Flowers The younger sister of Lord Durwell and a Great Bastard, such was the beauty of her mother that despite being closer to forty than thirty, she was "invited" to King Aegon's quarters in the Red keep during a tourney when she was Lord Marq's regent, and died giving birth to Daena. She grew up with the young Lord Marq as her father figure, and it is said that he has both doted on her and personally instructed his sister in how to navigate the intrigues of court, she was a lady in waiting at Highgarden until recently.
| | Septa Johanna Born of House Massey and married Lord Meadows, who died shortly after she conceived her son Lucas, known as a cold and unpleasant woman guarding over her son and his birthright like a hawk. During the Black Tourney, she was found guilty of murdering her husband and to have committed adultery and passing her son off as his, while the father is presumably King Aegon IV. Lord Tyrell permitted her to take the vows as a silent sister to be absolved of her crimes.
| | Lord Lothor Mullendore Praised for his wit by Lord Bryce Bridges whom he squired for, the Lord of Uplands rose quickly to prominence among Lord Jon Hightower's advisers, spending as much time at the court of his liege as tending to the affairs of his own lands. It is said that he declined an offer of a position in the Tower of the Hand on the pretext of shouldering the duties of his ailing father, but some suggest that he had no desire to be parted with his wife and certainly not bring her to the court of King Aegon IV.
| | Lady Kyra Orme Looking nothing like her gluttonous brother, Lord Eldon Merryweather, one knight once speculated in his cups that she may have had a different father, his life was ended in gruesome fashion by Ser Rennifer Waters in a duel to prove her honor beyond doubt. Reportedly none too happy with having to marry into House Orme, supposedly having envisioned a union to one of the more prestigious houses in the Reach to better suit her ambitions.
| | Lord Owen Roxton Though not quite living up to the legend of Bold Jon Roxton, Lord Owen may be his granduncle's equal in skill with Orphan-Maker in hand, but he is a considerably more quiet man, that does not have Bold Jon's penchant for making such statements in the heat of battles and melees as earned him his moniker. Lord Jon is a man preferring to stay out of politics and intrigue while keeping his sword sharp for when the real fight begins. Though with two daughters has his only heirs, such preferences are not likely to be fulfilled.
| | {Lord Karl Willum} Karl Willum was an energetic lord with an impressive red beard that added several years to his appearance. A powerful warrior and jouster, with a quick and roaring laughter, a man with a big and good heart, but also of having a fierce temper and being prone to rash and impulsive action. A lover of tales and legends, and often spoke of his desire to one day be the hero of such stories that he might tell his grandchildren. During the tourney at Highgarden, he broke his betrothal with lady Amerei Orme in favor of the bastard Alena Flowers, most believed that she seduced him. Despite hurting his arm and being in need of bed rest for the fracture to heal following his duel with Ser Roland Cordwayner that had been fought to satisfy the insult to House Orme, he rode into the masses assaulting the Merryweather camp during the riots stirred by Septon Abelar at The Black Tourney, his horse fell and he was trapped beneath, though he pulled himself free, slayed many foes and remained alive when he was found, he did however, not live through the night.
| | Lord Alekyne Yelshire A man known for being rigid, stubborn, unmovable and above all pious. He abhors drink, claiming it to be the source of half the world's sins, he has outlawed prostitution and gambling in his lands which and he had his own brother gelded for raping a serving girl, and forced a cousin to join the silent sisters when she gave birth to a bastard, the child was given to the faith.
| | Ser Ulbert Blackwood Known as the Ironhand, the infamy of Lord Blackwood's granduncle in the Riverlands is only rivaled by that of Ser Otho Bracken, supposedly he has survived three ambuscades intended specifically for him across numerous feuds with Stone Hedge, four of which were he surely were the instigator, the last such incident occurred in the reign of King Viserys II, were he savagely goaded Ser Kevan Bracken, the young heir to Stone Hedge to challenge him to a duel of honor, but there was no honor in Ser Ulbert's fighting, ignoring the yield of his foe and instead delivered a blow with his axe so savage that half of Ser Kevan's brains followed when it was yanked free. For this, and the blood spilled in the ensuing skirmishes, the king had him exiled, never to return on the pain of death. He served for seven years as an officer in the Second Sons before word reached him that King Aegon IV had pardoned him to add insult to injury after executing Lord Jonos Bracken and his daughter Bethany. Thankfully, he has since not been involved in any bloodshed, perhaps mostly because he has spent more time signing on with the second sons on short-term contracts for various campaigns in the disputed lands.
| | Ser Otho Bracken The second son of Lord Bracken, Ser Otho is known to be a fierce and hardy warrior of great strength. While rarely leaving the Riverlands, he has a reputation as a formidable and dangerous participant in the melee, with more than one broken limb to his name. His renown grew at the Black Tourney for slaying Lord Blackwood and Ser Marlon of Kingsbridge in the grand melee.
| | Lord Manfred Lothston The Black Bat of Harrenhaal is not well regarded, a young house and the second-most powerful in the Riverlands, and the curse of Harrenhaal looms over it. Both his father and brother were renowned for their black deeds. Lord Manfred is suspected to be behind the fire that killed them both, though some would consider this a justified act if so. While many are reluctant to deal with him, his influence is such that it is difficult not to, and he is known to be generous in his rewards and generally forgiving of dishonorable methods.
| | Ser Lyonel Baratheon Called the laughing storm for his powerful laughter, the young and recently knighted heir to Storm's End has the formidable physical stature and boisterous nature that is common among Baratheons, but he is also notable for his charisma and sense of righteousness.
| | Ser Aerion Baratheon, called the Stormbreaker Lord Baratheon's uncle, and champion of Storm's End, believed to be nearly the equal of Ser Daemon Blackfyre, earned his moniker by being first in the wedge that smashed the lines of House Yronwood during the conquest of Dorne and so that the king's army could march on Sunspear.
| | Ser Robb Reyne The Red Lion of Castamere, as House Reyne likes to style it's champion, is widely considered the best knight the Westerlands have to offer and one of the finest in the realm, while gallant and courteous, he is known to challenge Lannister knights at any available opportunity.
| | Lord Olyvar Yronwood Styled the Bloodroyal and Warden of the Stoneway, the head of the second-most powerful House of Dorne is said to be young and proud, prickly perhaps. He was but a squire when his fathers horse was bitten by a viper and panicked, throwing it's rider off to break his neck, it is said that the other Dornish Lords immediately tested their new peer, and he failed to win their respect, hardening his disposition towards them.
| | Lord Harmen Blackmont A stern man known for his coldness and cruelty. He has not remarried since his wife died in childbirth, it is said that he smothered the child and declared it stillborn believing it not to be his, in the telling of the story north of The Red Mountains, his wife died not in the birthing bed, but hurled herself into The Torrentine. He is not well liked among his peers, but valued for his honesty, reliability and keen mind. He is believed to have the ear of The Martells who values his clear-eyed and forthright counsel.
| | {The Hooded Man} A most notorious character among those who have pursued his work, though his name and employer remains up for speculation, the deeds bought by his blood money during the black tourney are known by all, his tainted gold purchased the deaths of Septa Tyane and Matthis Rowan, the kidnapping of Ser Aladore Florent and other atrocities besides. He has proven himself cunning and elusive. Suspected by a select few to have been captured by Lord Florent and if so, he will surely not be seen again.

House Targaryen of King's Landing House Targaryen has ruled Westeros (aside from Dorne until recently) for nearly 200 years, since Aegon the Conqueror brought them under his reign by Dragonfire. Originally a noble family of Valyrian Dragonlords that had moved westwards before the doom, from Dragonstone Aegon and his two sisters flew forth and after a short war, most of Westeros had bent the knee. Though the last dragon died two generations ago, the Targaryens has held onto their position even without. House Targaryen rules the seven kingdoms through their chief vassals, the Lord Paramount such as House Tyrell of Highgarden in the Reach, while the lords in the so called Crownlands answer directly to the the Targaryens, sworn to the Red Keep or to Dragonstone. At The Great Sept of BaelorThe High Septon, colloquially dubbed "The Jolly One" in polite company, smallfolk and others with a preference for vulgar simplicity tend to refer to him as "The Fat One". Said to come from a family of landed knights near Maidenpool and spent many a year as a wandering brother before tending to the sept in the Westerlands where he rose to the rank of Most Devout. He is corpulent and jovial and whispered to have been appointed at the behest of King Aegon IV. There are those who say that the ranks of the Most Devout has been filled by men and women who prefer comfort over confrontation under his watch, and that the faith have never been so complacent in the past hundred years. Ranking members of the most Devout: Septon Karlon, who tend to the Great Sept when the High Septon himself does not officiate this duty, one of few from North of White Harbor to have held such a high office in the faith. House Tyrell of Highgarden Ser Alester Tyrell was named champion and sworn shield of King Gwayne V Gardener, his second son Gareth was of the bookish sort and served ably as High Steward as did his son again, so the Gardener's made this office hereditary. Following the field of fire, Harlen Tyrell surrendered Highgarden to King Aegon the conqueror and was awarded with the castle and named him Lord Paramount of the Mander. Much to the consternation of other houses such as Florent and Peake, both arguing that they had the better claim, but the Tyrells received crucial support from the mighty Hightowers as well as the faith militant. House Tyrell is only second to the Lannisters of Casterly Rock in terms of wealth, and no house in Westeros can field as large an army, neither on it's own or by comparing the strength of the banners that can be called. Members:Lord Leo Tyrell, known as the longthorn, the premier jouster of the Reach -His wife, Lady Rhonda, an elegant lady with a good eye for artistic talent, formerly of House Crane of Red Lake --His son and heir, Ser Willas Tyrell, a quiet young man, a capable knight, if not quite living up to his father's reputation. --His second son, Martyn Tyrell, squire to Prince Baelor Targaryen --His daughter, Amerei Tyrell, lady in waiting to Queen Mariah -His brother, Ser Garret Tyrell, formidable with sword and lance, but overshadowed by his brother. --Ser Garret's Wife, Lady Leonella, formerly of House Swann in the Stormlands. ---Ser Garret's daughter, Lady Kyra Tyrell, a young girl. -Lady Margaery Tyrell, Lord Leo's grandmother, a shrewd old lady suspected to have as much say in the affairs of Highgarden as any other. -Lady Marianne, his cousin, now of House Merryweather. Notable members of the Household:Septon Janos, a large man once of House Baratheon. Maester Perwyn Ser Damon Crane, Captain of the guards Ser Lewyn Redwyne, Master at Arms Ser Nestor Tyrell, Seneschal Ser Lewyn Rowan, an aging knight serving as Lord Leo's castellan. {Septa Tyane}, murdered by hired blades when bravely warning Ser Roland Cordwayner and Alicent Yronwood of their presence. Butterbumps, the dwarf, the fool of Highgarden Alicent Yronwood, a noted golden haired beauty of 25 serving as lady in waiting to Lady Rhonda, betrothed to Lord Merryweather by agreements struck under King Baelor, but for unknown reasons, the marriage has yet to take place. Ser Narbert of Longtable, raised to knighthood by Ser Owen Merryweather, his face is covered by horrible scars sustained by burns suffered during the riots of Highgarden. Took service with Lord Tyrell as the protector of Lady Marianne in Ser Owen's memory.

The Principal Houses Sworn to Highgarden The most important of Lord Tyrell's banners, while most Lords Paramounts have one or two vassals of comparable strength, the power of the banners that Highgarden might call upon are immense in comparison to it's peers. The most prominent may in fact draw upon larger hosts and bounties than the less powerful great lords. House Crane of Red Lake.Located on the border to the Westerlands, Red Lake does not share the history of violence with the Dornish with most of the Reacher Lords, and has historically served as the first line of defense against the Kings of the Rock, often tasked with watching the Northern Frontier as Gardener Kings have warred with Dorne or Storm's End, this duty has earned the house many privileges and honors over the ages that has made the house flourish in times of peace and with increasing trade along the Ocean Road. It's members: Lord Erykk Crane, an unpleasant man called the "pennypincher" for his jealous watching of every coin passing through his hands. -Lady Janei Crane, wife of Lord Erryk, formerly of House Fossoway, prim and proper. --{Ser Paxter Crane}, Lord Erryk's firstborn son, slain by Ser Tommard Heddle in the melee of the Black Tourney. ---Lady Rohanne Crane, wife of Ser Paxter, formerly of House Ashford. ----Lomas Crane, the son of Ser Paxter and Lord Erykk's heir, an infant. --Ser Olyvar Crane, the second son of Lord Erryk, a strong fighter but overly fond of drink. --Lady Leonella Crane, Lord Erykk's daughter, a stunning golden beauty of seventeen years. -Ser Garth Crane, Lord Erryk's brother, his martial ability is widely considered to be a shame for his house. --Lady Nymella Crane, wife of Ser Garth, formerly of House Blackmont in Dorne, she was one of the hostages demanded by King Daeron I, their marriage arranged under King Baelor I as part of making peace. ---Ser Darren Crane, Ser Garth's son, a notable tourney knight. ---Lady Ileana Crane, Ser Garther's daughter, pious but a bit on the plump side. Members: Lord Reynald Florent, a shrewd middle-aged man, unremarkable in martial pursuits. -Lady Cerenna Florent, Lord Reynard's wife and cousin. --Ser Aladore, Lord Reynard's son and heir, recently knighted. House Merryweather of LongtableBlessed with the same fertile soil as Cider Hall, the Lords of Longtable have long been wealthy and prestigious, Lord Eldon's grandfather rose so high as to serve as regent for King Aegon III, and House Merryweather has been frequently blessed with similar honors. Members: Lord Eldon Merryweather, unmarried despite being close to fourty, a man who's appearance have made others liken him to a fat pig, and the tales of his love of feasts and serving girls, and his habits concerning both only serve to reinforce that image. Ser Mors of Old Oak Ser Elbert Hunt Ser Jason Norridge House Peake of StarpikeWhile they can trace their ancestry to Florys the Fox, and is an ancient house, it's growth into one of the most powerful houses of the Reach can be widely attributed to their opportunism of driving House Manderly out of the Reach and gaining Dunstonbury to double their holdings and then Lord Unwin's fortuitously securing Whitegrove (some claim Ser Robert Levalle may have had a bloodied hand in this) through inheritance and his other ambitions having left a lasting legacy for his house. Members: Lord Gormon Peake, sometimes called Gormy by friends and family, a formidable knight with proven credentials as the commander of Lord Leo's left flank during the battle of the prince's pass, widely considered to be among the most politically savvy lords of the Reach, having deftly secured many favors from King Aegon IV, and one of the more prominent supporters of the Blackfyre claim. -Lady Eleana Peake, once an enchanting Valyrian Beauty of House Velaryon, considered quite the feast for the eyes even in her late thirties. --Ser Laenor Peake, Lord Gormon's son and heir having inherited his father's wits and his mother's looks, all Ser Laenor lacks to be truly remarkable is martial talent. ---Lady Helicent Peake, wife of Ser Laenor, formerly of House Hightower. --Ser Randyll Peake, Lord Gormon's second son --Lady Tanda Peake, daughter of Lord Gormon, a maid of 15, as beautiful as her mother and gifted with an amazing singing voice. Others at Starpike: Master Harrot, an enterprising young merchant that struck it big selling a shipload of Dornish spices in Oldtown just as King Aegon IV's heavy duties on Dornish goods were abolished with King Daeron's accord with Dorne, allowing him to sell at pre-tariff prices and pocket the difference. House Redwyne of the ArborKnown for the best wines of all of Westeros, the Arbor boasts of a sizable fleet, second only to House Velaryon in numbers of warships and merchant vessels, the sea being it's main source of wealth. It is also by many considered the place in Westeros where knighthood is held in the highest regard. Only knights of certain pedigree may partake in the tournaments held by House Redwyne, while approving of Prince Baelon Targaryen, the Redwynes have nothing but loathing for his father's lack of chivalry. Members: Lord Willem Redwyne, a respected knight, twice widowed. --Ser Sandor Redwyne, Lord Willem's firstborn son and heir as skilled as his father with sword and lance, only younger. ---Runcifort Redwyne, the four year old firstborn son of Ser Sandor, his mother dying in labor. --Lady Janei Redwyne, cousin and second wife of Ser Sandor. ---Addam and Marianne, infant twins of Ser Sandor and Lady Janei -Ser Roland Redwyne, Lord Willem's second son, called Redtusk ever sine he as a thirteen year old squire during the battle of the Prince's pass slew a Dornish spearman with the tusk kept from the first boar he felled as a trophy, widely considered to be the finest knight in the Reach. Of age with Daemon Blackfyre and counted among his closest friends, which some consider the main reason as to why his younger and slightly less talented brother was named to the Kingsguard instead of him. His mother died giving birth to him. --Ser Garth Redwyne, the latest addition to the Kingsguard, and considered the best looking out of the brothers in white cloaks, while every bit as skilled as his half-brother, he prefers to ignore the fanfare of pageantry and social gallantry beyond that which duty demands of him. --Lady Pia Redwyne, Lord Willem's daughter, a maid of twelve with wits beyond her age. Died of a fever from a festered wound sustained dueling Ser Roland Cordwayner at Summerhall.

Noteworthy Noble Houses of the Reach Houses of the Reach that are noteworthy for their prominence in the Reach or in events that may soon unfold. House Ambrose of Greywatch Located just south of Old Oak along the Ocean Road. With ants for their sigil, and "never resting" as their words, House Ambrose has typically treasured hard and diligent work and are generally considered pragmatic and down to earth types. Lord Perwyn Ambrose, a quiet man that likes it quiet, came into his seat three years ago. Lady Kyra Ambrose, his wife, of a lesser Fossoway branch. Ser Aubrey Ambrose, his younger brother, known for his gallantry, and slaying three dozen Dornishmen during the Battle of the Prince's Pass. House Appleton of AppletonThe three Appleton brothers are known as strong knights, talented and true, fond of tourneys, it is said that they hardly care to stay at home, or settle down with wives. Lord Addison Appleton, known for his gallantry and skill in the saddle. Ser Lewyn Appleton, his brother and heir, a tourney knight. Ser Martyn Appleton, his youngest brother, recently knighted. Ser Rordrik Flowers, his captain of the guard. House Ashford of AshfordSituated to the east, on the border to the Stormlands, the Ashfords commands lands of considerable size and fertility, but it has suffered for having a young lord at the helm. Lord Randyll Ashford, came into his seat at a young age when his father choked on a chicken bone, a talented knight. Lady Eylena Ashford, his wife. Their two young sons, Androw and Robert. His sister, Lady Alysanne, wed to Lord Meadows. House Ball of HighburnAn ancient house tracing it's lineage to Florys the Fox and one of her three husbands, now best known for the very vocal maneuvers of the lord's second son in favor of Daemon Blackfyre, whatever opinion the lord might have on the matter is unclear. Lord Walton Ball, an elderly knight, honest and true. Ser Quentyn Ball, his second son, known as Fireball for his red hair and fiery temper, master-at-arms of the Red Keep under King Aegon IV, had his wife join the silent sisters so that he might take the white cloak as promised by the late king, a promise not kept by King Daeron II. A strong fighter and a formidable leader in battle. House Blackbar of Bandallon Sworn to House Hightower Known as leal subjects of Highgarden and House Targaryen, too leal it may now seem, as what pleased King Baelon once is haunting Lord Vardis when seeking spouses for his children. {Lord Vardis Blackbar}, a scholarly type believed to have been more at ease as a maester than a knight. Killed in an ambush near Bitterbridge. {Lady Zia Blackbar}, formerly of House Dalt of Dorne Killed in an ambush near Bitterbridge. {Ser Zachery Blackbar}, his son and heir, unwed, some believe because of the difficulty of finding a suitable wife for a Half-Dornish. Killed in an ambush near Bitterbridge. Lord Elwood Blackbar, his second son, a page at Highgarden Lady Falyse Blakbar, his daughter, a beauty cursed with the olive skin of Dorne. Ser Guyard Blackbar, his uncle, recently returned from service at Oldtown. Ser Manfryd Blackbar, son of Ser Guyard, commander of the city watch at Oldtown. Ser Titus Blackbar, second son of Ser Guyard, accompanied his father to take up service at Bandallon. House Bridges of the Laughing StreamA rising star in the Reach ever since Lord Bryce proved himself against the Dornish and showed himself to be gregarious and lavish in his generosity, some see his half-dornish grandnephew and heir as breaking with such traditions. {Lord Bryce Bridges}, once an impressive knight who proved himself during the conquest of Dorne, now an aging man that some say have been struck with grief after his wife of forty years perished in the cold of the last winter. He left his lands in the care of his grandson and ventured to live his remaining days as a knight errant, but came no further than Highgarden, where he has been a guest of Lord Tyrell for the past year. Murdered by poison during Lord Tyrell's grand tourney. His grandnephew, {Lord Desmond Bridges}, his appointed heir was highly able which he demonstrated as regent after Lord Bryce departed for Highgarden, his Dornish blood irked many of the Reachmen. He was only briefly Lord Bridges until he was murdered by unknown attackers on his own lands. Ser Desmond's sister, Lady Alysanne Bridges, now Lady Regnant, but in name only after her marriage to her cousin, Ser Farman Flowers. Ser Farman Flowers, a great bastard and grandnephew of Lord Bryce, having inherited his father's taste for pleasures and displeased as his cousin have cut the funds fueling his excesses. Took control over the house following the death of his cousin, technically styled Lord Protector for Lady Alysanne, though that is clearly just a formality. Lady Ysilla Flowers, great bastard and twin of Ser Farman, a stunning young beauty, but with a strong will of her own and relishing the freedom her parentage grants her. {Ser Dagos Manwoody}, uncle of Lord Desmond and his captain of the guards, a nimble warrior, better on foot than on horse. Slain besides his lord nephew. {Ser Jonothor Wellbeck}, once a soldier fighting with Lord Bryce in Dorne, knighted by King Daeron I for single-handedly holding off an ambush from a mountain trail. Murdered at Whitewalls. Eamon Bridges, the only child of Lord Bryce and technically his heir, but he is a lackwit that all agree should be passed over in the inheritance. Considered boisterous but good-natured by most. Lord Balman Bulwer, a barrel-chested man, though has gained weight into his advancing age. Ser Theomore Bulwer, his brother, the grey ox, a knight of impressive physique and prowess, despite being in his mid-fourties. Humphrey Bulwer, his grandnepew, a page. House Caswell of BitterbridgeBitterbridge would have ranked among Highgarden's principal bannermen if not for it's destruction some fifty years ago, while rebuilt, the costs sill weights heavily upon the Caswell. Lord Armond Caswell, a noted loyalist of King Daeron II, succeeded his father Lord Luthor the builder only two years ago, have just recently finished rebuilding Bitterbridge after the savage sacking by the hands of Lord Ormund Hightower, for which his house is severely indebted to the Iron Bank for the reconstruction and blames House Hightower for it still. -{Lady Erena Caswell}, his wife, once of house Fossoway, died in childbirth. --Joffrey Caswell, his son and heir, a likable lad of five years. --Cleyton Caswell, his second son, a golden haired boy of three years. -Lady Saera Caswell, his second wife, the beautiful daughter of a Lyseni merchant. -{Ser Jarmen Caswell}, his cousin, slain by Ser Randyll Peake in the melee at the Black Tourney. She was never invited later due to her complaining. {Lady Helicent Cockshaw}, the late head of house, a noted Blackfyre supporter, known to have held a grudge against Queen Mariah. Lord Daverhyl maintains a small estate inside Oldtown, and its lords are often the first to respond when the Lords of Hightower call their banners.
