Ser Lewyn Rowan and his assistants are given no time to rest as more than a thousand knights seeks to write their names into the tourney rolls, astute enough to have inquired with the attendant lords of the Reach to assess the number of knights of high station that are likely to feature at the lists, and thus have an idea about how many to admit directly into the first round with the rest having to qualify. Lords and knights of high standing merely sends a squire or pages to have their name taken into the rolls, lesser knights must come themselves to convince Ser Lewyn of their worth. As is often the case, particularly among younger knights, many feels snubbed and slighted by being denied direct entry or barred from taking part in the grand parade.Special: Characters with the Tourney Knight quality may add their bonus from that benefit to all tests in this event. Note: The results from this event grants bonuses to tests made in Steel and Ribbons. Step 1: Herald MANDATORY FOR ALL WISHING TO PARTAKE IN THE JOUSTNote that only characters with a chivalry score will be allowed direct entry by Ser Lewyn Rowan and they must have war horse and proper armor (AR 7 or better), other knighted characters with their equipment in order may instead sign up for the qualifying rounds. The only option to enter the joust for characters that have not been knighted is to sign up as a mystery knight. Status(Reputation or Tournaments)+chivalry TN 12 Famous grants +1D, 1 point of influence or glory may be spent for +1D to the test. Note that glory can only be spent by the character having it, and mystery knights cannot spend glory without revealing their identity. Any non-chivalrous knights attempting to sign up for the joust in their own name will automatically fail (but not critically). The higher the number of DoS scored, you are more likely to be facing knights of higher station and renown, meaning anything between a member of the kingsguard and some inexperienced, incompetent or old noble, insuring that you (or they) will not face the risk of getting humiliated by some hedge-knight. On average, a high result should insure an easier first few rounds than normal. On a simple failure, you may not take part in the parade. On a critical failure, you also must go through the qualifying rounds. Mystery Knights: They have an assumed status equal to the combined value of horse and armor divided by 1000SS for this event (Round down, max 4, min 2) with no specialties or chivalry rank. Most ladies will allow a mystery knight to ride for their honor, but very few would give their favor to a mystery knight they do not know the identity of. Whether being allowed entry in the parade or not, all mystery knights must partake in the qualifying rounds to prove their ability. A woman attempting to join as a mystery knight must succeed on a Deception(Disguise) TN 9 to fool the attendants. Note that mystery knights are always unmasked after being defeated (or winning the whole thing), so the only way for mystery knights to conceal their identity is if they fail to appear for a match, prompting much speculation.
The qualifying rounds: Involves actual jousting, but is simplified to undertaking the following tests (you must also ride at a Quintain first, but that is easier than to ride against a man): 3x Animal Handling (Ride) TN 9 3x Fighting (Lance) TN 12
To proceed, you must accumulate at least 6 DoS across the tests. A critical failure results outright elimination from the competition. Step 2: The parade.A procession like no other, hundreds of lords and knights in shining armor and freshly painted shields, tabards with their sigils and great chargers caparisoned in silver and gold. The Lords and Great Knights of the Reach and beyond, it is a lengthy process of each knight being announced, and may ride at quintains and other challenges presented on the field. Fortunately for those who are waiting to see favors being asked for and given and rivalries to form, most prefer not to attempt to show off their prowess, the crowd is quickly bored of mediocrity and might boo and jeer at knights that have nothing to show and simply waste their time.Assuming you passed the test in step 1, you are expected to partake in the parade, though you may ride through without any particular fanfare. Optional: Animal Handling (Ride) TN 9 Fighting (Lances) TN 12 Agility (Balance) TN 9 Succeeding on all three: +1 glory Gaining at least 5 DoS: +1 glory For each simple failure: -1 on any test made during Steel and Ribbons. Critical failure on any test means that you fall of your horse, suffer -1 Chivalry and gain no glory and cannot partake in Steel and Ribbons.

The two Great Bastards and very great rivals, Sers Aegor and Brynden Rivers, almost universally referred to as Bittersteel and Bloodraven, the birth of the latter and his sisters is a continuation of the ancient feud between Raventree and Stone Hedge all the way into King Aegon IV's bedchamber, and now it extends into the range of King Daeron, with Bloodraven, his sisters and the Blackwoods firmly siding with the king, whereas Bittersteel and the Brackens are openly in favor of Ser Daemon Blackfyre. It was to Bloodraven that King Aegon bestowed "Dark Sister" the sword of Queen Visenya, oldest sister-wife of the Conqueror, also wielded by the notorious Prince Daemon, consort to Princess Rhaenyra and father of Kings Aegon III and Viserys II and more recently the fabled Prince Aemon Targaryen, The Dragonknight. It is well known that Bittersteel is envious of this final favor being bestowed to his rival. The pair are announced in quick succession, the hatred visible in Bittersteels eyes as Bloodraven are granted the honor of going first, probably by lot, but this is man who will feel slighted by the idea that random chance is given the opportunity to deny him that which is rightfully his. He regains some of his mood by having a more even and solid performance in front of the crowds than his hated half-brother. Aerion is more alive at this moment than in most of his day to day life. This is what he lives for. This. The cheering of people, the sweat of those around him, and the anticipation of the tests to come. On a grander stage than he's ever performed, he plays the part of star easily. He heels his destrier forward, decked out in his colourful livery. His polished armour shining brightly in the midmorning sun, and his helmetless head sitting high on his shoulders. The epitome of a chivalrous knight. He performs the standard maneuvers, with a little flair here and there to set himself apart from those around him. Many onlookers can't help but notice how easily he sits in the saddle, and although he wasn't the brightest of stars in the procession, he did gain a few new admirers that day.

Post by Roland Cordwayner on Jul 8, 2018 22:26:40 GMT 1
Roland had owned his reliable steed, Verity, for three years, and while the chestnut coloured rounsey was shorter than some of the mighty warhorses at the parade the pair knew each other well. His tabard bore the arms of both House Starling and the green and yellow diamonds of House Cordwayner, affording equal honour to his home house and to those he had sworn his sword to. Perhaps it was the certainty with which he sat his steed that jogged memories, or the presence of a greater number of knights and sworn swords. Where there had been cold indifference yesterday, there was now an expectant murmur, growing in volume as the promising young knight took his place for the parade. Roland swallowed and nodded to his fellow House Starling knights, as much for reassurance as to reassure the others. For the Companions. It was as if the Warrior himself was with Roland that day, and he and Verity were as one. Roland sought to entertain the small folk and ladies by making Verity step nimbly back and forth, then decided to show his fellow men his mastery of the lance. Lining up three quintains normally ridden at by three separate knights, the Reachman instead charged all three at an angle, starting high and working lower on their shields. Flashy and impractical for the battlefield, but met with cheers from the smallfolk. Elated by the cheering and giddy with the thrill of his performance so far, Roland recklessly stood in his stirrups and bowed to the crowd without slowing Verity. He retained enough sense to wait a few second to avoid seeming nervous before retaking his saddle in a more conventional fashion, relieved to have accomplished a maneuver that failed as often as it succeeded at practice. Let the gossips and schemers keep the court for themselves. Here in the sight of the Seven, a man can prove his worth with honour rather than honeyed words.Parade Status(Tournaments)+Chivalry+TK: 5d6k3+5 21 - 2 DoS Parade AH (Ride)+TK: 6d6k4+2 17 - 2 DoS Parade Fightings (Lance)+TK: 7d6k5+2 28 - 4 DoS Parade Agility: 3d6+2 15 - 2 DoS +2 glory

Not known for his jousting prowess, Aladale nevertheless partakes in the parade. As a frequent visitor of Tourneys, he has little trouble convincing Ser Lewyn to put his name down on the lists. He cannot be sure, but he thinks the Rowan knight likes him. Maybe he overestimated his abilities a little, but Aladale was not the man to correct him on that... The parade itself goes reasonably well. He rides his courser, decorated with a black saddle blanket and red bridle making sure his gear was no political statement just by accident. He felt good and smiled at all the visitors along the course, but leaving the glory of performing any tricks to the jousting favorites. Even so, he almost falls at the end of the parade, when he leans too far to his left to see the knights behind him. Tourney Enrollment - Step 1: 5d6k4+2 25 +2 from BotA = 27 - 4 DoS (unexpected!) Ser Donnel walks in his armor as if it was nothing more than leathers. First he approaches Ser Lewyn to get his name signed in, before he mounts his destrier and sets out to do a lap. At the start his ride is dour and concervative, but as he gains confidence from the crowd cheering his lancework grows more and more intricate. As Ser Lewyn indicates for him to leave, a maniacal gleam shines in Ser Donnels eyes: He takes the reigns in his mouth, and with both hands free he can extract his feet from the spurs as he slowly rises to stand in the saddle, in a move that belies both his age and ability. As he slumps back in the saddle he reflects: This is what joy feels like.Test 1 tourney involvement Status reputation: 5d6k3+6 18 2 DOSwrote involvment... meant enrollment, sorry! Addam was nervous as he approached Ser Lewyen. Older knights than him had been denied from taking part in the parade, which did not bode well for him. "Ser Addam Velaryon of Kingsbridge, Sworn member of the Companions." he said with what little courage he did have. A sign of relief came as Ser Lewyen waved him towards the group permitted for the parade. With renewed spirits, Addam eagerly mounted his dapple grey destrier, Seasmoke. As the procession started, he leaned in close to the horse's ear. With a gentle pat, he whispered, "Alright boy, just as we practiced." Addam spurred his horse forward into a full gallop, expertly striking the quintain with such force that he cracked his own lance. Tossing the cracked lance aside, Addam reared Seasmoke high, rasing his fist in the air and join the crowd in a loud cheer. But he had reared Seasmoke for to long, almost losing is balance on the way down, but he mange to catch himself just in time to make it look almost natural. Addam reveled in the crowd's cheer. With one last cheer, Addam elegantly spun his horse in a circle and trotted off to retake his place in the parade. Ecstatic would of been an understatement. Grinning ear to ear, Addam lean back down again, this time scratch the horse behind both ears and burying his face in it's mane.

Post by Malcolm Caswell on Jul 9, 2018 2:11:53 GMT 1
Ser Malcolm has few issues with getting admitted to the joust as such. Clad in Caswell colours, white and gold, he climbs into the saddle of his trusted mount and begins his lap, perhaps a bit too careful not to let coat and caparison catch too much dirt. Although he tries to embellish the standard maneuvers a little, not all things go as lightly off the hand as planned. Still, when he makes space for the next knight, he feels he hasn't sold himself too cheaply. Ser Quentyn Cordwayner has been a fixture at the lists, he appears on a dramatically black destrier draped in the colors of his house. [OOC - Figuring out how to post all this dice rolling and the DoS, if I made any mistake please feel free to correct!]
Mikel is back in familiar and comfortable territory as he enrolls in the tournament. Never being much for the pomp and parading he never the less mounts his grey Courser and slowly takes a lap around the lanes. As he does he stares intently over the crowd as if he is the one subjecting them to scrutiny instead of the other way around. Finishing his lap he lines up on one of the quintains with the sole goal of demolishing it. Putting his spurs to his horse it charges as Mikel brings the point down at the last possible second that set the quintain to spinning with a loud crash as his Lance and the shield affixed to that quintain shattered. Discarding the Lance he slowed his horse as he rode him out, this time giving the crowd no attention.

Cleyton approaches Ser Lewyn which looks at him with a strange face for a few moments before nodding and allowing him to sign, all the while Cleyton smiles to the name while cursing him with his heart. Raudur is brought ready with his blood red color and magnificent bearing for courser that shows it’s superiority over most horses in the tournament. Cleyton starts with a light trot to warm up and working to full gallop making a quick run around to get acquainted with the field. Stopping suddenly and patting Raudur in the neck “Let’s show them what we got” Cleyton spurs Raudur with his words as if they where of one mind. Cleyton lancework is efficient and clean gaining the approval of the crowd and few nods from other people as they see him going to work demonstrating he does have some skill. At the end of it all before exiting Cleyton smiles and decides to turn around and bows while still mounted and waves to the crowd, which is suddenly followed by Raudur bow which got smallfolk happy and a few more keen of eyes a giggle as they noticed Cleyton loss a bit more color, but kept smiling and waving his hand. A great number of knights rides in the parade, but several of the best ones comes first, the Great Bastard Ser Aemon, over his breastplate he has draped a tabard of the red fox of House Florent on Targaryen Black, his blonde hair flowing freely in the wind, his performance is one of skillful elegance with minor flourishes, nothing too spectacular. When Ser Roland Redwyne enters the field, many are craning their necks for a good look of the most renowned and certainly the most gallant of all the knights in the Reach, having added a red boar tusk to the Redwyne grapes as his personal sigil, he leaves no doubt about how formidable opponent he is in the joust by not only hitting the quantain, but with such force that a pair of Tyrell pages must bring the sledge to knock it down into the ground once again. A bit of a buzz rises as old Lord Bryce Bridges takes to the field, he has shed the black tabard he has worn lately, and have found his old attire in the colors of House Bridges, and demonstrates that he can still sit the saddle as well as any man three times his junior. Quiet anticipation winds it's way over the stands where the ladies observe the parade as Lord Marq Durwell rides forth, and drives his horse to maddening speed through the course, yet easily pass through the hurdles, not even slowing down to better his aim coming up on the quantain. His final elaborate flourish shows that he is a man of flesh and blood like the rest, well mostly, his squire holds a bouquet of red roses near the ground, Lord Marq is not quite as elegant as he no doubt had intended as he pick them up, but who else would even think of trying such a feat? Let alone not falling off his horse in attempt. A great many ladies looks longingly at those flowers with hope and dreams in their eyes. The Red Lion of Castamere lives up to his fame, though he seems to believe more in solid performance than one-upping his rivals. Ser Sebaston Rowan, second son of Lord Thaddeus and by some mentioned as an outsider to win the competition, performs admirably, better than most, but his performance is not one to bring the crowd into believing that he might have a great moment of glory beyond the expectations Sebaston Rowan Status: 6d6k4+4 24 3 DoS Ride: 6d6k4+2 22 3 DoS Lance: 7d6k5+2 26 3 DoS Balance: 3d6+2 11 1 DoS +5 on S&R Marq Durwell Status: 8d6k5+6 30 4 DoS Ride: 6d6k4+3 24 4 DoS Lance: 8d6k5+3 23 3 DoS Balance: 4d6+3 13 1 DoS +6 on S&R Robb Reyne Status+famous: 7d6k5+5 28 4 DoS ride: 6d6k4 20 3 DoS Lance: 9d6k6 21 2 DoS Balance: 4d6 20 3 DoS +6 on S&R Roland Redwyne Status: 6d6k4+9 18 2 DoS Ride: 7d6k4+3 17 2 DoS Lance: 8d6k5+3 27 4 DoS Balance: 4d6+2 17 2 DoS +4 on S&R Aemon Flowers Status: 8d6k5+5 26 3 DoS Ride: 6d6k4 15 2 DoS Lance: 8d6k5 26 3 DoS Balance: 4d6 15 2 DoS +5 on S&R Bryce Bridges Status: 8d6k5+2 21 2 DoS Ride: 6d6k4 24 4 DoS Lance: 6d6k4 19 2 DoS Balance: 3d6 16 2 DoS +4 on S&R

Enrollment, Status/Reputation + Chivalry TN 12: 3d6k3+2 11, FAIL_____________________________________________________________ Ser Balon went to enroll himself in the tournament instead of having an underling do it. Partly because he was without a squire, and partly because he enjoyed going down there to observe and take stock of the other knights enlisting. He wore the same attire he'd worn to the knighting ceremony and royal procession but added a tabard with the sigil of House Blackbriar. The vainglorious side of him hoped someone would recognize him (in a good way) from the brief confrontation with Ser Walton Wyl earlier in the day. Balon walked up to an attendant sitting behind a table, " Ser Balon Blackbriar of Gyldenhaal." The assistant to Ser Lewyn looked up and Balon could tell there was recognition in the man's eyes. Balon could feel his swelling pride. The attendant turned and motioned to a page who nodded and ran further down the line of tables. Balon began wondering what was going on as a man who he assumed was Ser Lewyn Rowan came walking up. " This is Ser Balon Blackbrair." the attendant said. Ser Leywn looked Balon up and down before sniffing derisively, " Sign here," then mockingly added, " if you can not write make your mark." Lewyn looked at him with hard eyes, " You will not have to qualify but you will not take part in the parade." His words hit Balon like a warhammer. " What!? This is outrageous. I demand to know why." Balon could feel his hackles rise as anger surged through him. Ser Lewyn answered flatly, " Knights who level baseless accusations against other knights, regardless of that knight's heritage, will not take part in this parade. Be satisfied you can participate at all." Balon was incensed. He wanted to scream wordless rage, to go over the table and teach this supposed knight some manners. This was an insult! Wait a minute. This man is a Rowan. What is his relation to Thaddeus Rowan? No wonder they dishonor me by denying my right to be in the parade. Lord Rowan helped bring Dorne to the kingdoms under the most absurd of terms. This is a conspiracy! At no point did Balon ever consider that it was in fact his words that had cost him a spot in the parade. Through gritted teeth Balon snatched the quill from the inkpot. " Fine." It was all Balon could say without coming unhinged. Fuck the parade. Nothing bunch a bunch of sots and dandies on horses. Balon turned and stormed off.

Clad in half-plate and atop his silvery courser, Argent, Ser Daeron cut a fine and proper figure as he approached Ser Lewyn to enter the lists. A recognized figure among the knights of the Reach, Daeron didn't even need to speak his own name for it to be added to the rolls. Confident in passing this first barrier, the Knightsbridge Companion just had to make a good show at the parade. When his time came he sat high in his saddle and charged the quintains set up before him and gave a solid strike to each of his targets. Although they were square hits, they were not as flashy as he had hoped, they were still enough to get a few scattered cheers from the crowd. "Better save my best for an actual opponent," he thought before moving on, giving other knights a chance to show off as well.
