At sunrise on a clear day such as this one, the lights dance upon the white marble of the sept of Highgarden, first the playful dance of the maiden fair as the crystals in the seven spires caught the first light, then as dawn broke in full and shines through the stained glass windows in a way that can best be described as a glimpse of the magnificent ascendancy to the seven heavens that awaited those faithful and true, this sight is mostly reserved for the several young men having kept their silent vigil all through the night and must wait a few hours more before the doors opens for the procession lead by Septon Janos, a broad shouldered man of seven feet, with thick black hair that had halfway turned gray, once a Baratheon of distant relationship. Several dozen lords files in behind, but first in the line two princes. They have all come to join the young man in a yellow doublet, who until know have been kneeling in front of the image of the warrior along with several others, the procession files in to the benches facing his altar, before the septon starts leading them in prayer, hundreds of knights and ladies have joined to see the sight.
The Septon's booming voice reaches even the farthest walls, after saying the prayers, acolytes approach with the seven blessed oils, of which the septon in turn anoints the young knight to be by dipping his finger in the first jar, drawing a seven pointed star upon the young man's forehead while saying a prayer to The Warrior, proceeding to the second jar and a prayer to the father and so on. Having anointed the knight to be with each of the seven oils, he turns to the assembly and declares that Preston of House Oakheart have been deemed ready by his master to take on the sacred duties of knighthood, turning to address him, his voice thunders gravely. "Preston of House Oakheart, do you swear before the eyes of gods and men to defend those who cannot defend themselves, to protect all women and children, to obey your captains, your liege lord, and your king, to fight bravely in the face of peril and do such other tasks as are laid upon you, however hard or dangerous they might be?"
"I so swear." Comes the reply with all the strength and confidence a young heart can muster. "Then kneel, squire!" Comes the command from the first bench, the surprise and awe upon many faces can almost be felt, it is not Lord Redwyne, whom Preston squires for who stands up and receives the sword that Lord Willem had carried into the sept, nor is it Lord Tyrell, it is Prince Baelon. A great honor, except that the man is half-Dornish, and Lord Oakheart is likely none too pleased. Young Preston eagerly obeys, however.
"Preston of House Oakheart! In the name of the Warrior I charge you to be brave. In the name of the Father I charge you to be just. In the name of the Mother I charge you to defend the young and innocent. In the name of the Maid I charge you to protect all women..." The tip of Prince Baelon's sword touches the right shoulder, then the left, then the right and so on. "I bid you rise, Ser Preston of House Oakheart." Then he presents the newest addition to the brotherhood of knights with the sword he was knighted with, a beautiful sword, the finest money could buy no doubt.
The septon proceeds through the ceremony as there are more than one young noble that is to receive his spurs on the occasion, though none with such prestige.
