Location: Roughly North of Cider Hall, south of the Roseroad.
House Starling has a proud tradition of standing side by side with Oakhearts and others in repelling the Dornish, once petty Andal Kings who were subdued by the Gardeners long ago, it is unclear if their holdings were then larger than their modest size today. Their prominence have risen in Targaryen times, as more than one Starling distinguished himself fighting in Dorne, the most renowed being Ser Willem Starling, chosen to serve on Aegon the Conqueror's Kingsguard for his prowess. Today, the shields of many fine knights decorate the grand hall at Kingsbridge. Lord Willem, so named after the most famous Starling, has been living up to his namesake's reputation, he proved his mettle many times over the young king's conquest of Dorne as a young knight, and in his prime he won a dozen and a half tourneys in a row, defeating the strongest jousters in all of Westeros more than once.
Today, House Starling of Kingsbridge might be considered unremarkable if not for the skill at arms it's members seems to inherit, and the high standards of chivalry that they hold themselves to. Their iron mines run deep, and provide ore of the best quality, as does the smiths that work it into fine steel. Such a tradition has attracted other such men, and the Kingsbridge Companions, a company of highly disciplined and well trained cavalry, mostly recruited from Kingsbridge and knighted when the Lord deems them ready is widely considered to be worth ten times as many average knights on the field of battle. There are those, however, that would claim that even with their considerable production of arms and armor, much of it sold to others, the costs of maintaining so many knights exceeds their incomes, even if the majority lives relatively modest as proper knights should. The greatest concern of the Starlings, however, is that Lord Willem's lovely wife, the Lady Alysanne of House Velaryon, have granted him no sons, thus leaving their daughter Lysette as his heir. It is whispered that there have been many discussions into the long hours concerning what sort of husband to seek for her hand.

The Starlings are suitable for any capable knight seeking honorable service, whether it is one of the locals winning his spurs through display of skill and gallantry or a lesser noble from the outsde, and they have a strong chivalric tradition. However, there is conflict afoot, the many knights of Kingsbridge naturally pulls the house towards the side of Fire, quite a few of the companions vie for the favor of the young Lady Lysette, for most just a game reminiscent of the legends of fabled ladies at the Gardener court, though some might truly seek her affections, or just her hand in marriage. Suitors from other houses, second sons mostly, have their eyes on her as well, several not above accepting support from those who would see another crowned king, or those who support King Daeron. It is unlikely that Lord Willem would accept any man not worthy of commanding the companions, but as of the preferences of Lady Lysette and those of a less martial bent, little is known, as is the extent to the influence they hold over him. They may seek the aid of those on the side of Blood to help safeguard Kingsbridge future.
