Sons costs their houses war horses and armor. Daughters costs their houses dowries. Thus, the knights gets nicer stuff.
All characters gains their status rank worth of GD for spending money (or emergency slush fund). They will also be assumed to have clothing suitable to their station, for status 2 characters that includes a courtier's garb, for status 3+ it ranges from a few noble outfits to an impressive wardrobe, depending on one's wealth and prominence.
Characters in need of equipment, be that weapons/armor, a maester's intruments and supplies of medicine or whatever may start with such equipment of a worth up to his status rank multiplied with the wealth rank of the house in GD. Characters may add their chivalry score to their status rank when determining what equipment they may start with. Any leftover money will not go into your purse, this comes out of the house's armory, stockpiles or other supplies. When a man is given his spurs, the one making him a knight customarily provides him with warhorse, longsword, war lance and armor, so under most circumstances such items are the property of the knight.
For each -1D to status(reputation) tests from drawbacks, treat your status rank as one less (minimum 1) when determining your starting coin and equipment.
Wealth Ranks by Home Houses: Starling: 3 (Knights may acquire Superior Weapons and Armor at half cost) Levalle: 5 Starkwood: 3 Blackbriar: 4
