Seeing Ser Rennifer's performance on the tourney grounds, it was safe to assume that Longtable wished to continue its feud with Kingsbridge despite failing to defeat a single knight on the tourney grounds. Exchanging cold glares with his fellow bastard he snapped to his squire: "Bryce, fetch my horse's armor. Against this one I'm taking no chances."Staring down the blackguard Wildfyre knew that this would be a bloody competition, bloodier still if it came to swords at the end of it all. Aiming his lance at his foe he began to wish that he had taken the advice of his squire and cheated and if he was confident in his ability to, he probably would have. Alas, honesty would have to do today.

Daeron was wise to expect trouble, but this pure savagery from Ser Rennifer, beyond the pale and a violation of all the rules of the tourney as opposed to merely a blatant disregard for the spirit of the joust that the blackguards had practiced up until now, that was almost impossible to prepare oneself for. Ser Rennifer ignores Daeron's torso, well protected by his shield to instead aim his lance into his fellow bastard's thigh, to instantaneous outrage and condemnation from the crowds. Followed swiftly by the heralds blasting their horns at the signal of the tourney master as Ser Rennifer is about to be disqualified.

Howling in pain, it was only his strong horsemanship that let Daeron keep his saddle after Rennifer's lance pierced his thigh. Despite preparing for treachery on his part, even Daeron didn't expect the blackguard to be so bold to just openly attack him like that, a blow that could have easily killed a lesser man with lesser armor.
Making it back to the other end of the list he was in the process of grabbing his second lance when he heard the trumpet blow disqualifying Rennifer and only after a long pause did he hand it back to his squire. He was seriously tempted to give the bastard another charge and give him a taste of his own methods, but he wasn't ready to lower himself to the blackguard's level and the shocking pain from his severe wound was beginning to overcome his adrenaline. If he fought Rennifer at this point he *would* lose. Instead he opted to battle the bastard in an arena that favored him. Raising his helm so that his voice could carry to those who mattered, he bellowed out in a strained voice,
"The mad dog bites once again but nobody is more to blame than its master holding the leash. My gathered lords and knights, when will we finally hold them accountable for their actions?"
He then cast his violet eyes directly at Lord Gormon and Lady Tanda, in a move that he remembered being the peak of subtlety, but was obvious to most observers.
"When will we stop deluding ourselves that a man who keeps a whole kennel of mad dogs is one who can be trusted to keep his word? Why do we tell ourselves that one so utterly beholden to his own vices will ever be satiated with any amount of concessions?"
Feeling like he had made his point he turned his back on Rennifer, almost inviting the man to strike him again in full view of the crowd, and left for the maester's tent to deal with the sucking wound in his leg.
He might not be a blackguard, but he definitely didn't go Noble on that tilt, not against Rennifer.
He also takes 1 Wound to offset the damage.

From the sides of the stands, where the mere knights were seated, a crescendo of voices agrees with Daeron, though mostly they compete in shouting loudest with their suggestion as to what to be done with him. From the center there is awkward silence, Gormon's face takes on a rather displeased complexion.
As for Tanda, it could seem as if she offers a silent plea for help, or maybe that is Daeron's pain playing tricks on his mind.
Eldon gains +2 Rumor DoS towards blood. Because scandal.

Having made it out of the maester's immediate care and into the finals of the tourney, Daeron was recuperating in his tent with a guilty conscience. Perhaps his attempt to shame Lord Piggy and his blackguards in public would have some sort of repercussions for those who were trapped in his web. It was a bit of a blur, but he recalled seeing Lord Gormon and Lady Tanda both looking quite unhappy after his encounter with Rennifer, Lady Tanda in particular looked like she needed someone to rescue her. Whether it was the pain, the drugs, or his predisposition to see himself as a generally chivalrous knight (even though many of his previous actions contradicted this self-image) he decided that now was an excellent time to see what he could do to save Lady Tanda. Snapping his fingers at his squire to get his attention, "Bryce, summon Lord Gormon to my tent. I have much to speak with him, perhaps there is a way out of this mess for him." However, a moment of consideration made him realize that one of the most powerful men in the kingdom had a 0% chance of responding to the invitation of a sworn sword, even if they were a Great Bastard. At best a cadre of henchmen would drag him from his tent into Lord Peake's pavilion for an audience. "Wait! Invite Lady Tanda here instead, discreetly of course."If she truly needed help, then here was the best chance for him to offer it. Nightsong-Audience-Tanda Peake: 6d6k4+8 27

Lady Tanda is far more discreet than to actually come to Daeron, instead indicating that she had a mind to visit the castle garden once the sept bell rings for the ninth hour.

A soft “tap” “tap” “tap” of a cane was all that heralded Wildfyre’s approach as he limped into the garden. Even with the Milk of the Poppy, he found it easier to navigate the grounds of Nightsong with its help.
Clad in a dark hooded cloak and a hastily added eyepatch, casual observers might not be able to identify him from a distance, assuming that they ignore the hooded figures conspiring in the garden.
Bending down to examine a curious flower that only bloomed at night, he kept his eye open for Lady Tandy’s approach. At the same time he kept one hand on the hilt of his sword in the event that someone other than his expected guest appeared.

A wholly unappealing sneer forms on Lady Tanda's face as she is approaching, her tutor would be utterly aghast at her inability to hide her contempt. "If you wanted discretion, ser, I would recommend not advertising to the world that you do not wish it to know of our meeting." Any friendliness of that jab, if there were any to begin with, must have fallen flat on the ground long before reaching Daeron's ears.

For a moment Daeron was tempted to turn around and walk away and leave that bitch to her own foul devices, but an opportunity to take a swing at an enemy was too compelling and if he could break the impending alliance between Longtable and Starpike it would be worth a few mean words.
Ripping off the eyepatch and removing his hood he gave no more than a stoic shrug.
"I am a knight, not a spy. We slay monsters and rescue maidens, which is good news for you.
You clearly want out of this engagement and I don't want Lord Piggy holding a hostage against Starpike, so it seems that our goals intersect on this. I propose we work together, unless you think you can escape on your own?"

"You have clearly given the matter some thought, ser." Tanda is rather transparent, an amateurish plotter committing to nothing while expecting Daeron to lay out whatever plan he has. She also does not seem to think Daeron actually has a plan.

Fortunately for Lady Tanda, he had at least the outline of a plan to help her escape her horrible fate.
Ticking off his ideas on his fingers, much like he had seen his sister do before, he plowed on forward.
"There are a couple of paths forwards.
The first is that we convince your father to break the betrothal. He needs a position of strength to do so, or at least enough blackmail to leverage Lord Merryweather off of you. That would take quite a lever to dislodge the pig, even the truth of Lady Mya Hastwyk being locked away at Longtable probably isn't enough. I suspect that your father would have already made his move if he had the option available at the moment."
He ticks off another finger.
"The next is to find a way to make Lord Eldon break the betrothal. It worked for Lady Alicent, so it could work for you. I'll let your imagination run wild on what it would take for Lord Piggy to reject you as a potential bride, but it would certainly beat the alternative of sharing a bedchamber with him for even a single evening. The standard would be some sort of sexual impropriety, but also a public insult at a well-attended tourney could do the trick."
Another finger.
"You could always run off to a motherhouse to become a septa. Not the ideal fate for a highborn woman, but again it beats the alternative, it also might spare your family some of the backlash that Lord Piggy is known for."
He wiggles the last of his fingers around, having given up on counting the options.
"The best option in my opinion though is to simply do away with the Pig. I like the idea of murdering him and his men at his own wedding with crossbow-wielding assassins disguised as the wedding band, but a simple knife in the dark or vial of poison in the right cup would work as well. You cannot marry a dead man and I doubt that even his own family would pursue the matter beyond the bare minimum that honor dictates. The man has so many enemies anyway that it would be difficult to determine who's behind it. I have precious few friends who deal death in a discrete manner, us knights have little training in the matter, but this might be something that your father or his friend, Master Harrot could help with as well."
Holding out his hands in an almost apologetic manner he concludes,
"At the end of the day it's up to you. I'm not the one getting married to a swine, but I would like to help."

Some ideas Lady Tanda dismisses out of hand as impossible, if her father had such leverage, there would be no marriage, and he would be a fool not to seek to have it if there were even the smallest suspicion that such a thing could exist. And if her father could simply have him assassinated, he would have done so already if he deemed it preferable to the impending marriage. Besides, a lady could not possibly have a part in any such scheme, or so she answers trying to seem clever, but it is rather transparent that she simply is utterly at loss on how to help with such things.
Becoming a septa...or engaging in scandal...if she does that, then that "Rose Bitch" will triumph, she does not so want.
A knight deplored by Lord Eldon appearing on the scene as a challenger for her affections and defeating his knights might offer powerful symbolism, but perhaps insufficient, and a good jouster, better than Daeron, would be needed to ensure the defeating. Even so, Lady Alicent defied only distant family, if Lady Tanda were to attempt the same, she might only succeed in making Lord Eldon even more obsessed with forcing Starpike to have her dragged to the altar, good luck finding a septon that would not balk at incurring her fathers wrath by defying the custom of having her serve at least a year as a novice before taking the vows, and to find a motherhouse who could not be pressured into casting her out to the waiting men in orange and black livery.

Becoming a septa...or engaging in scandal...if she does that, then that "Rose Bitch" will triumph, she does not so want. He puts his hand over his face to hide his building frustration. "You're right that Lady Amerei will probably gain some sort of satisfaction by seeing you publicly embarrassed, but reputations heal over time. One of the most powerful lords in the Reach has his daughter locked away in a motherhouse at this moment and the events that landed her there in the first place were quite the scandal, but now you hear nobody talking about her. It won't be long before something else grabs the attention of the nobility and she'll be out and married to some lord's son without a whisper spoken about her.
However, if you marry Lord Eldon you will be little more than his bed slave except you'll be trapped in a more fortified structure than a Lyseni pillow house and I can guarantee that Lady Amerei will see you sharing his bed and bearing his children as a far greater triumph than some scandal that will be forgotten about within a fortnight.
Regardless, your window for action is rapidly closing. If you want to escape this fate you must decide soon and commit."
