The lords of The Reach usually are quite able at avoiding conflicting schedules and rivalry for the attendance of the most prominent knights of the tourney circuit, but those in the Stormlands and in the West have had much less opportunity and reason to confer with one another on the the topic, so the coincidence of Lords Caron and Crakehall both seeing fit to hold tourneys close in time is hardly unheard of, but it is very rare that two such tourneys just outside of Lord Tyrell's lands to offer variety for The Reacher Knights happens almost simultaneously, so they must each chose their preference. And given the inclinations of the respective hosts, the choice quickly turns into one of strong partisan coloration.
Prestige
Both hosts will be competing for glory and attention, measured in prestige points gained. Prestige is chiefly gained by attracting noteworthy attendants, but particularly memorable jousting matches or other feats of heroism may increase the prestige of the hosts, scandals and outrages may similarly mar a tourney. Usually such can result in 1-3 prestige gained or lost, but more is possible for highly noteworthy episodes.
Notable attendees at Nightsong:
Prestige 2:
Walgrave Oakheart, Gormon Peake, Roland Redwyne, Lyonel Baratheon, Aerion Baratheon, Olyvar Yronwood.
Prestige 1:
Quentyn Ball, Farman Flowers, Normyn Flowers, Quentyn Cordwayner, Titus Blackbriar, Patrek Florent, Stannis Wythers, Gareth Middlebury, Lancel Cuy, Edmyn Conklyn, Maegelle Cordwayner, Jeyne Cuy, Tanda Peake.
Prestige 0:
Pearse Caron, Horas Redwyne, Denyse Cordwayner, Sybelle Oakheart, Lyanna Florent.
Starting total: 25
Notable attendees at Crakehall:
Prestige 2:
Erryk Crane, Thaddeus Rowan, Marq Durwell, Robb Reyne, Damon Lannister.
Prestige 1:
Raymun Hightower, Sebaston Rowan, Lord Armond Caswell, Lord Alliser Levalle, Lewyn Appleton, Eustace Daverhyl, Karyl Vance, Ysilla Flowers, Daena Flowers, Gwynesse Grimm, Symon Starkwood, Aemon Flowers, Lysette Starling, Janna Hightower, Alicent Yronwood.
Prestige 0:
Loren Lannister, Bryce Crakehall, Roland Crakehall, Manfryd Grimm, Damon Crane, Sandor Daverhyl, Aemma Rowan, Myrielle Lannister.
Starting total: 25
Notable characters that seems undecided on which to attend, if any:
Leo Tyrell, Willas Tyrell, Willem Starling, Abelar Hightower, Imry Levalle, Preston Oakheart, Lewyn Appleton, Owen Roxton, Ormond Hightower, Roland Leygood, Martyn Stackhouse.
Notable characters not particularly welcome (but may show up anyway):
Simon Tarly, Ser Rennifer Waters, Ser Norren Wythers.
--Simon Tarly appearance can only occur if Peace in our Time reaches a conclusion by the time the the guest lists are finalized.
Others:
3D will be rolled against TN 0 for each tourney to generate two highly capable jousters per DoS to represent the best the Stormlands and Westerlands have to offer, additionally a named tourney favorite from The Stormlands will also be introduced (All these are presumed to be well known in the Storm- and Westerlands tourney circuits, but did not participate at Highgarden or Whitewalls).
Attracting more:
-Time sensitive given the need to finalize jousting rosters, at some point likely decided by the time needed for Starlings to figure out how to attack their particular situation, the window for any such efforts to be made will close.
One may attempt to sway up to 3 characters of The Reach to join one tourney or the other (including blackguards), or perhaps to stay away entirely, this ordinarily functions as follows:
Audience vs 3*Status
Simple Intrigue (Typically Convince) vs ID+DR.
Chance TN=DR+Status
-Success on all tests: Typically sufficient to make them inclined to come (although special characters may have a mind of their own, ladies generally do not travel alone and most with leanings towards one side are not likely to show support for the other).
-If their disposition towards you is negative, it applies as a penalty to all tests.
--Highest total DoS scored, then disposition, then re-rolls are used to resolve which conflicting successful invitations carries precedence, although neutral leaning characters may sometimes chose to stay at home.
-If not being part of the same household or having particular strong ties, an attempt will cost a minor favor to have an intermediary do the work.
-Generally only one invite from each tourney (non-participation counts as a third location) should be sent per NPC, some coordination as to which character makes the tests may be prudent.
-NPC's except as noted below are assumed to generally have taken such efforts as they have time and inclination for doing, although additional invitations from NPC's may occur should the narrator get ideas for scheming webs to be weaved.
--Other methods may also possibly work, but should generally be reserved for special cases and schemes.
Each PC attending a tourney grants it +1 Prestige Point (Roland gets +2, Balon +0)
The following characters grants prestige points for attendance as follows:
Leo Tyrell +3
Willas Tyrell +2 (Only if going where his father does not)
Willem Starling +2
Preston Oakheart +2 (Crakehall only)
Owen Roxton +2
Others of note: +1 (Typically lords, strong jousters or special characters, any others who would qualify for more are either unwilling or unable to attend either tourney).
Aforementioned Blackguards: -1
A character changing location for where to participate takes their prestige with them.
Additional characters from their household may accompany these and be added to the participants, generally, members of a lord's house or household travelling with him are included in the prestige he brings.
-Lysette is likely to actively involve herself when it comes to inviting Willem, but the threat of Longtable may considerably change her choices from the expectation of inviting Willem to Crakehall.
-Alicent will invite Leo and Willas to Crakehall
-Walgrave will invite Preston to Nightsong.
-Daena Flowers will invite Titus to Crakehall.
Rewards:
-Separate jousting/queen of love and beauty event with it's own rewards.
-Each prestige point earned gives +1 Faction DoS (Fire for Nightsong, Blood for Crakehall), to be distributed roughly in accordance with whom might claim credit for so and so many, prestige for personally joining is added.
-"Sabotaging" a tourney grants +1 Faction DoS for the other side per prestige point that is subtracted.
-If the tourney champion at Crakehall refuses to join the toast to the king: +2 Fire.
-If the tourney champion at Nighsong leads the hall in toasting the king: +2 Blood.
Example 1: Both places gains 10 prestige points from attendees and prowess, but someone were to arrange for Simon Tarly (-1) to arrive and eggs him on to create a scandal (-2), this would make it 10 vs 7, and the instigator gains 3 Faction DoS, and then Lord Eldon sends one of his Blackguards (-1) to make an example of one lord or the other (-3), this would give him 4 Faction DoS and score is now 6 vs 7, but this would be in addition to the 10 each side has to divided among other attendees.
Example 2: An NPC decides to travel to another tourney than originally planned, this does not count as sabotage, it merely changes the faction which DoS is credited for, and changes the overall balance of prestige.
Example 3: An NPC is prevented or dissuaded from attending a tourney as planned, there is no sabotage as the points for attendance are reduced.
Example 4: Simon Tarly shows up on his own accord (-1), gets drunk and rapes a tavern wench with no encouragement needed (-1) which leads to trial by combat (-2), which leads to Gelding (-2), the 6 "sabotage points" are probably chiefly going to him, but some of them may be credited to any helping this chain of events along.
