Laena would find herself with stiff competition for Redtusk's favor, loosing out to her sister Daena, and it seemed that Daena Roxton also provided a stronger bid, but the half-Targeryens won out still. Though Addam need not compete with the favorite of those placing bets, Ser Normyn Flowers also seeks the same honor, there are others, but none she cares to entertain the hopes of. Rather than granting the favor to either suitor, she quite publicly suggests that they should earn her favor by proving their gallantry against one another. A challenge rather hard to back down from in view of the assembled chivalry, but only one man might proceed to the next round if they accept the challenge. Ser Normyn has no intention of being named a craven, he will certainly obey the wishes of the fair lady. Daeron is granted Lady Ellyn's favor, but is challenged over it by one Ser Lyonel Costayne, Addam might remember him as a skilled opponent in a previous joust, having bested him only after a respectable number of broken lances. Vying for Redtusk, Daena Roxton, Daena Flowers TN 18: 8d6r1k5+4 26 6d6r1k4+6 27Normyn for Daena Roxton TN 15: 6d6r1k4+8 29 3 DoS, so no favorite chosen. Lyonel Costayne wooing Ellyn: 5d6k4+2 16 Just the 1 DoS, so Daeron is favored.

"It may take some time to prepare" Ysilla suggests coyly. "My champion was disallowed entrance to the list for not being a proper knight, and why play a game when one dislike the rules put it place to shield those who are supposed to be brave from the fear of embarrassment?"

"I for one plan to participate for the purpose of separating some of these stuffed shirts masquerading as warriors from their money; that and to remind some that we of Dorne are not foes safely ignored once provoked."
He sighs.
"Alas time is a currency of which I do not have much of, for I do not have the power to delay the joust proper. Perhaps if your champion is unable to participate, they would graciously allow me to ride with your favor in their stead? I would of course owe them a debt of gratitude, which perhaps I could repay at a later time by helping hone their skills and assisting in their participation in a future tourney?"

"Favor must be earned, ser" Ysilla shakes her head. "Besides, I imagine there are ladies of Dorne who would take offense to the notion that they need a knight to champion their cause in the first place"

"I am sure they would, and I would agree; alas we are in a backward land, not Dorne."
He shrugs.
"The lady's commitment to her champion is commendable, and I am not so uncouth as to beg after what will not be freely given."
He scans the crowd in a semi-disinterested manner.
"Would you perhaps know of a lady whose day would be brightened by a gallant knight being asked for her favor, and would not read too much into the asking? If I cannot ride with the favor I desire, the least I can do would be to bring a smile to some other young woman's face - for the smile of a young woman is a gift to all the world. Alas, I have little experience with this particular game - not too many jousts in Dorne or Essos to seek favors for - and cannot claim to even know whom the players are here in the Reach."

The rounds following Ser Lyonel were considerably more exciting for Ser Daeron as they consisted of shattered lances and opponents cast into the dust. His fourth round; however, was much closer as he tilted against one of Lord Oakheart’s more reliable knights. Ser Eddard of Somewhere Beneath His Notice was a lean, hard-looking man whose slouch in the saddle was suggestive of skill rather than sloth and whose shield placement made him a tough target. Unable to penetrate Ser Eddard’s defenses, Wildfyre reminded the crowd why they gave him that nickname at Highgarden and engaged in an all-out assault, costing him his saddle. Luckily for Wildfyre, it also sent Ser Eddard out of his as well and the tourney master, hoping to keep the melee and joust separate, awarded the victory to the Great Bastard over that of an upjumped hedge knight. While some might have considered his decision to award Ser Daeron the victory political in nature, others were quick to point out that Wildfyre tended to win most of his jousts on foot anyway. So tally so far: Robyn: No Davos: No Mikel: No Balon: Yes Addam: Pending rounds 2-4 Roland: Yes Daeron: Yes So that should 12 or 13 draws from the NPC list (Normyn's out). Methodology is that: 1-80: Redtusk 81-140: Marq etc...if Redtusk is drawn first, then it's 1-60: Marq and so on. Also put in a category of "random secondary NPC's" (treated as 22 individual tickets), set up a spreadsheet to aid me so here goes: Draw #1: 1d300 258 Manfryd Grimm Draw #2: 1d295 73 Redtusk Draw #3: 1d215 139 Willem Starling Draw #4: 1d175 18 Marq Durwell draw 5: 1d115 81 Addison Appleton draw 6: 1d110 25 Imry Levalle draw 7: 1d70 69 Random NPC draw 8: 1d69 44 Vardis of Kingsbridge draw 9: 1d68 34 Owen Roxton Draw 10: 1d63 53 Random NPC Draw 11: 1d62 24 Aemon Flowers Draw 12: 1d57 30 Preston Oakheart Draw 13: 1d52 25 Fireball or Addam. Draw 14: Balon Draw 15: Roland Draw 16: Daeron So key takeaway is that Addam faces Fireball in round 4 (if he reaches round 4), which *could* be played in full for drama, or just rolled for event-style and narrated. Big upset that Ser Lewyn Appleton didn't make it, Walgrave Oakheart did not either, but there's a couple of significantly better jousters than him that didn't make it to the final 16. Others of interest that didn't make final 16 (none were expected to, but some could have managed with favorable draws and a little luck): Abelar Hightower, Aubrey Ambrose, Symon Starkwood, Lyonel of the Cockleswhent, Martyn Appleton. Drawing up round of 16 works as follows: -PC rolling first does 1d15 and gets the opponent indicated (skipping own name, so if Addam rolls 13, he gets Balon instead of himself), 9 is Owen Roxton for example. -PC rolling second does 1d13 and gets the opponent indicated (skipping own name and those already pulled out of the hat). -Then it's 1d11 and 1d9. -Remaining matches could be drawn up by others if they like.

Does it matter which PC rolls first?

No, since it's all randomized.

As the fates would have it, Daeron was to face Lord Appleton his honorable host. Appleton Joust-Drawing Straws: 1d15 5 Looks like Addison Appleton

[Phase 4] Appleton Joust, Drawing Straws: 1d13 12So If I understand this correctly I remove Addison Appleton and Daeron from the list. Meaning the winner of Addam Velaryon and Fireball is my opponent.

I’ll get the rolls up tonight, but round 4 was a simple failure and I didn’t win the tie breaker so Balon going against Fireball.

Appleton joust opponent: 1d11 6Men claimed the lots were random and Roland had seen nothing to make him doubt the tourney master yet, but the Seven seemed to have kept him from the most prestigious competitors. But could he keep himself from complacency in such a match? He had already lost his seat to Lord Appleton once at this tourney, and not for the first time in his jousting career. Roland seemed to raise himself up to face the likes of Redtusk, but had fallen victim to less fancied knights in the past. [OOC: Think I face the 7th opponent as I skip Addison Appleton, already drawn?].
