Lord Addison's hall is nowhere near the size required to host such a large amount of guests, so he has instead lined longtables around the courtyard, with a makeshift canopy built above to keep out any rainfall. The area is spacious enough that all those seated above the salt are afforded a good view of the show put on by the mummer's troupe he has hired to provide entertainments, some might prefer these lesser gatherings where one might actually get to give greetings to all of one's peers, and have words with those one wishes without insulting anyone by ignoring them. It seems blissfully like the feasts used to be back when some of the knights in attendance were only pages. Ladies might remember the words of Lady Margaery, from her mouth or repeated by others, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Narator Note: This event comes in multiple acts, mostly it's about telling a story, so rewards on offer is likely limited, but should hopefully have a lot to offer to a number of characters. The need to move forward will mean that there will be deadlines to participation of some parts. Act IV: greatbastards.boards.net/post/34380/threadThere will also be a joust and a melee in separate events, it makes more sense if those happens earlier in the day without any incidents that would put a damper on the festivities. Act 1, Merriment-Players are encouraged to socialize and act out how they would at a feast. -PC's may also test the following: -Cunning (Memory) TN 12 -Awareness (Notice) TN 12 --There is no consequences for critical failure. --Success on both tests gives an act 1 "marker" for having observed and remembering a specific tidbit which may potentially grant options in later acts. --The deadline for having made these tests will be whenever it becomes relevant. Optionally, each PC may mark their post with "Going to see a man about his dog", this requires that the PC leaves the festivities in the courtyard temporarily for whatever reasons they may have for it. -At some point, at least a week from now, one PC will be randomly selected among those who mark their posts. -That PC will partake in act 2, a separate scene to serve as an introduction to act 3 (where everyone again will take part), therefore, only players who can reasonably be able to commit to a good pace (at least 4-5 IC posts in that scene in a week, assuming narrator manages to keep up with the tempo) should sign up for this. -PC's who at the time of drawing finds themselves in an unresolved Phase 3 scene involving physical danger will be disqualified. -There will be no rewards in act 2, but the choices made there absolutely can impact what happens later, possibly in ways not anticipated by the narrator. Consideration for qualities:Decadent: You will be "attacked" by the host for a simple charm intrigue (4D+3), which ordinarily means +1 disposition towards him should he succeed. Prejudice: The tests involves noticing something about one target group, those with the relevant prejudice thus receives +1D to them, but since it does not apply to everyone, roll the extra die separately and report results with and without.

Hero
Robyn brimmed with pride as he made his way to the Feast, the smile he wore was contagious to those who didnt share in his mirth. Clad in fine green leather, and carrying his trusted longsword at his side, he let out a billowing howl as he made his way inside the canopy. People were staring at him. He couldnt distinguish the differences in the glances; envy, distain, acknowledgement, respect, they all felt the same to him. Though the glances the serving girls gave him felt particularly poignant, and he would meet those with a sly wink before turning away from their gaze. He was back where he belonged, and with more glory beneath his belt than when he left. And a moniker too, should the others care to refer to him as such. He would drink and chat with those who would have his company, make jests and brag when he deemed necessary. But he would be sure to have only one drink and keep his wits about him. His time in danger sharpened his senses to be wary of any moment of peace, and while he was still jovial, the deeds he did in the Riverlands were heavy on his conscious. He would keep his eyes keen on looking through the crowd for Lady Falyse. She was the only one he truly wished to talk to, and had for the past few months.
I Figured that Robyn would be at the festivities, given that this is after Phase 3 and he would have returned from the Riverlands. If not, then please disregard this post. Laena, with her new chin-length hairstyle, charms her way through the crowd. Her main interest, however, is focused on the Cordwayners, albeit discreetly. While not all the pieces are available to her here, at least as far as she's seen, she has not forgotten the idea shared between her and Lady Alicent. The better an idea she has about how Lady Denyse acts and is treated and protected, the better an idea she'll have as to how to pull off their scheme when the time is right. They'd likely only have one chance - better to wait and gather information, for now. Still, she doesn't let them monopolise her attention. Plenty of lords to charm, and gossip to hear and filter for truth. Who knows what she might find, if she keeps her eyes and ears open. If nothing else, their host raised in her estimation. She'd thought him capable of (and interested in) no more than waving his lance around, but he both catered well, and was a charming and affable host. While her expectations had been rather low, it was a pleasant surprise to have someone exceed them for once.

War really is a game to them. Deadly opponents meet up again at a party to laugh and have fun while the dead are still and silent and rotting.Davos was not his normal self, not that most of the people in attendance here would know him well enough to pick up on that. An hour or two of contemplation could gird his heart for war, but it took far longer to completely reverse the process. Yet he craved the pleasures and comforts of peace, and those were most certainly in abundance. Lord Addison's hall was no Sealord's palace, but despite that the man sure knew how to put on a feast.

There is no sign of Lady Falyse or any other Blackbar, presumably her attentions are focused upon asserting her control as regent and getting acquainted with duties none could expect her to have to take on.
While some would like to hear the tale of the capture of Warrior's Seat, it does seem that there are more who will not associate with a half-Dornish at all, and one Oakheart knight already too deep in his cups, no doubt to forget his dismal showing at the list, encouraged by the sentiment of his peers slurs about taking a castle through trickery and mischief are the work of snakes, a true knight approaches his enemy with honor, but it is hardly surprising that the Dornish and upjumped commoners has none. A wise knight would probably pretend that he did not overhear, considering that it was not addressed to him. A more prickly one could take issue with such a thing.

For flavor, doing a Proud resist, seems appropriate. TAF: Proud Resist (TN 10): 3d6 9 Failure, seems like Robyn is slightly prickly. Robyn let out a heavy breath through his nose, turning to where the knight was standing in the crowd. He rolled his shoulders back, attempting to keep a level head, but such insults couldn't go unanswered. His expression remained full of joy, but the bubble that built in his chest was full of anger, "I must apologize, ser; I, like a majority of those in attendance, do not know your name. Out of respect, I will only refer to you by title. But, ser, your conviction is clouded by cabernet: that is to say, you cling tighter to that goblet than the honor you lack." He took a step forward toward him, "A true knight approaches his enemy with honor? Why, then, did you spout your insults from behind my back? Are you a true knight, or are you campaigning for the title of 'Wine Barrel'?"

Total with Prejudice: 24 - 3 DoS When Mikel had returned from the Riverlands he had not felt very different. In fact if he had to name amy difference at all, it was that he felt even more himself. The battle was the largest he had ever been part of, and taking the Warriors Seat felt like the most dangerous fight he had ever been part of... But fighting and danger were not new to him and his simple beliefs towards them were simply reinforced. His view of the world had not changed either, but since his return he had made some decisions which would effect his way in the world. One of those decisions involved his wardrobe. Since after the black tourney he had gone from half to full plate, which meant he'd gone from trousers to hose. As he spent more time in the armor he began wearing the hose while not armored too. Noticing the difference, he seriously considered his entire wardrobe and at the Appleton Feast he looked perhaps the most fine that he ever had. He wore calf high black boots, his belt and scabbards were black, as were his gloves. All of fine leather. His hose were a deep blue and doublet gray with black buttons, cuffs, and collar. His hose and doublet were a fine wool, and on the collar he had two pins, one the starkwood wolf and the other his personal coat of arms. Mikel silently prowled, generous in courtesy friendly smiles, but sticking to small talk or a quick, casual word or phrase with those he couldnt get around. Sipping slowly on wine and having a bite of anything that looked good there came a point where Mikel excused himself and made his way outside.

Ser Normyn appears to be the only representative of note from House Cordwayner, his squire and other attendants no doubt partaking in a less formal feast of their own. So Laena is not given any opportunity to observe Lady Denyse, they may have become cautious after the attack at Cider Hall, it does not take long for a trained eye with an interest in the man to conclude that her half-brother is careful to pay attention whenever someone behind him might be close enough to strike, and also only to take drink from a decanter that has been poured into the cups of other guests beforehand. Laena also notes that he has found a seat with very little traffic behind his back.
Her new hairstyle does not go unnoticed, ordinarily, a lady of The Reach, or indeed, the realm, even in Dorne, would wish for as long hair as could be maintained, those without such endowment would typically opt for some elaborate knot at the back of the neck, but even the unthinkable seems fashionable when worn by a Great Bastard, but there seems to be little danger in there being bold enough ladies to follow suit and turn it into a trend. It is an occasion suited to highlight the rather uniform instruction in courtesy given to the nobles of The Reach, for such a vast land, there appears to be only two or three ways to comment on the "unique" and "striking" new look, different words, but very little variation in strategy. Lord Marq mentions it not, merely giving it a look suggesting he liked it better before. Ysilla gushes and thinks it's grand, cutting her hair hadn't occurred to her. Maybe she could cut it real short, bind up her teats, wear boy's clothing and get herself onto the tourney master's rolls next time? As the Anvil Gloom Knight mayhaps?

It was a strange feeling. Daeron was back in the Reach and facing men at the lists and in the melee who only weeks earlier he would have been trying to kill on a northern battlefield and he was supposed to act like nothing happened? What was really disconcerting to him was how easily he turned on and off that killer instinct. One day he was carving a bloody path through a mass of men, the next he was (mostly) harmlessly knocking their surviving comrades from their saddles. Like many of the men returning from the Riverlands he was working on finding the answer to that conundrum at the bottom of a glass. However, returning home from the Riverlands wasn't just an existential crisis, but also a great opportunity for a proud young knight to brag about his exploits and he had many to be proud of: capturing Mudgrave, cleaving an armored assassin in twain with a single blow, and facing down the fearsome Roughneck in which survival was a feat in itself. Certainly a number of noble ladies would love to hear such stories from a battle-tested knight? Perhaps one of them might find one of his stories compelling enough to lead him away from the festivities for a while to hear more? Ser Normyn appears to be the only representative of note from House Cordwayner, his squire and other attendants no doubt partaking in a less formal feast of their own. [...] Making a mental note of the little she learns, and mentally cursing whichever idiot attacked them without the capability of finishing the job, Laena swiftly moves her focus on before her interest is noted. She could be patient when required - they would not flee the field forever. Maybe she could cut it real short, bind up her teats, wear boy's clothing and get herself onto the tourney master's rolls next time? As the Anvil Gloom Knight mayhaps? While polite and thankful towards those who flatter the style, she makes no secret that she intends for it to merely be temporary. Indeed, she confesses to Ysilla, upon her enthusiasm, that she's rather disappointed in how it ended up. But still, if she hadn't tried, she wouldn't know. And as for the rest of the idea, isn't there some history or story about a knight by that name already? Surely she could find a better person to inspire her actions than someone mostly forgotten by history, if they ever truly existed? [Not after a full scene or anything, just thought I'd put my general reactions to those events.]

With a sizeable Oakheart presence, there is an air of hostility towards Davos, one not quenched by the events of the tourney itself, but the pursuit of some Dornishman on the fields outside Appleton does neither seem out of the ordinary in The Reach, or anything worthy of dampening the festivities for everyone else. Lord Walgrave's influence stretch far and deep, like the roots of an old oak. Few would wish to seem friendly to a Dornishman to begin with, far fewer to one known to be personally hated by the most prominent of the eve's guest. Most of those who otherwise would harbor no ill towards Davos or those of Dorne think twice about approaching him, disinclined to catch Lord Oakheart's attention as possibly sympathetic.
Though if anything, this only encourages Ysilla, who long ago have labeled the old gnarled warhorse "a meanie", but most likely the fascination with Dorne and the disputed lands and particularly warrior women in such places is her main motivation. If Davos were to indulge her curiosity, others might be inclined to lean in to listen, cautiously trying not to seem so.

Davos is never one to ignore the charms of a lovely young lady, and while he is not foolish enough to do anything to provoke the old oakhead he is more than happy to ignore the animosity.

[Before Heading Out..]
Mikel had heard the comments made by the Oakheart Knight and made a mental note of them but choose to move along despite them. As he continued making his way around he saw Ser Normyn of House Cordwayner and he thought of his friend, Ser Roland. He wondered if he would be making an appearance at the feast? If so Mikel would ask how the situation with Roland's House was evolving. It wasn't difficult to see an unease about Ser Normyn, but the tension that was difficult to miss was between Oakhearts will, through his men, and Davos. And that was the very reason Mikel would be making an effort to lay his eyes on Davos from time to time, as well as the others. Despite the odds being against being at the right place to see something happening and being close enough to intervene, Mikel did have some luck when he observed Robyn near the Oakheart Knight who he had heard slandering from his cups earlier. Mikel made his way closer in a way which allowed him to come up so that the drunk Knight and his drinking mates were between he and Robyn. If all went well, nothing would come of this and Mikel could fade away, the belligerents never knowing he had been there... but if it did not go that way, well, perhaps even then once they woke they'd never know he had been there.
[OOC: I felt like I hadn't addressed anything specific in the narrative, so having time did so. And am happy that I did!]

Like many others at the feast, much of Roland's attention was on Ser Normyn, his bastard brother. The way Lady Laena wears her hair matches her spirit. Roland's own hair was in its normal style, worn as long as a helm would comfortably permit. But its colour was even more striking, his dark hair in in stark contrast to his bastard brother or his nephew and niece, heirs to Hammerhal. And now Roland knew why, and his brother had died for it. Unconventional, but such was the way of Great Bastards it seemed. "My Lady has the spirit of Jonquil Darke, even if a warrior woman's cut is not to her satisfaction." It seemed they lived in a time for new ideas, even if such were seldom to his liking. "Still, no man could call you of any blood but Targaryen, no matter how closely cropped the cut. House Cordwayner's colours have bred similarly for centuries." Roland had heard as much from maesters and was no longer shy of political statements. Talking to friends such as Ser Davos noted Lord Oakheart was in attendance too, and wondered at how the Seven had seen fit to give him a betrothed and friends among those he fought against, and foes among those he had fought alongside. Still, the younger Ser Preston Oakheart offered hope for his house's future and honour. With enemies near at hand and tensions growing in the Realm, Roland was relieved that his friend Ser Mikel was in attendance. [OOC: attendance naturally subject to Ser Roland's survival!
