Balon Blackbriar and Mikel of Harroway like this

The latest news from King's Landing concerns the death of Grand Maester Alford, reportedly found having just finished a treatise on the dornish peace, put his pen back in the inkpot and leaned back with a smile. Probably too poetic an end to be entirely true. The Citadel is reportedly convening to name a replacement, although they must surely have put some thought on the matter, considering the man's advanced age. Some whispers from Oldtown suggests that for many years, archmaesters and others have positioned themselves for such a prestigious role.
Murmurs in The Reach suggests that Lord Crane has sold his loyalty to the Blackfyre cause for an unknown amount of Castamere gold, paying for his daughter's dowry and more. If such vile rumors were not bad enough on their own, wicked tongues speak of House Levalle offering glittering gifts that laid the mercenary instincts of Red Lake bare for all to witness. Loyal to neither king nor supposed pretender, but to gold and gold alone, Lord Erryk's allegiance and favor appears to no longer be counted on, nor courted, by anyone.
At least one piece of happy news trickle out of the Riverlands amidst the cacophony of warfare, Lady Frey gives birth to a healthy daughter, and across The Reach, a multitude of pregnancies are announced, among those expecting are Myrielle Costayne, Alysanne Meadows, Perianne Willum, Jeyne Starkwood, Helicent Peake and Saera Caswell. From the Red Keep and Dragonstone emerges similar news with the pregnancies of Princesses Jena and Alys. More little ones to smother, sniffs Lady Shiera Blackbriar.
The upcoming engagement between Lord Eldon and Lady Tanda is announced with little fanfare, just a raven to Highgarden, and though only those present for the family supper where the maester dutifully informed Lord Tyrell of it heard Lady Amerei's unladylike laughter, everyone in the castle had soon heard of it, and then all the Reach. Though Lord Tyrell's daughter accomplishes little but enhancing the sympathy for poor Lady Tanda. One can only hope that Lord Leo intervenes to deny Longtable any such festivities, but this seems unlikely.
Lady Maegelle Cordwayner stays behind at Cider Hall after Lord Fossoway's grand masquerade, it would appear as if she was assaulted by an assassin during the festivities, but happily she makes a full recovery. Reportedly fuming that she knows very well who the culprit might be, it is whispered that Lord Fossoway's investigation failed to find any clues supporting her allegations and thus he refused to demand the one she fingered to present themselves for judgement. Without any real clues one way or the other, most suspicions falls upon House Levalle, given their long list of clashes with House Cordwayner, but the reach being what it is, almost as many points their fingers at Lady Alicent Yronwood, whose betrothed would stand to gain the lordship if Lady Maegelle and her branch were to be shunted out of the way. And Lady Alicent being Dornish, the strongest suggestion that she is not responsible is that the knife wasn't poisoned. Not a very strong suggestion.
Lord Fossoway himself earns a great deal of ire for discretely sweeping all the horrors of his ball under the rug. Lady Maegelle being stabbed is one thing, but Lady Lysette Starling being poisoned is quite another, and who knows what else The Reach may not even know about yet? Turning the dance into a macabre delusion of merriment as the maester worked fervently to save noble ladies from the Stranger's antechamber. This time, at least, the assassins were caught, but their testimony apparently useless, but anyone could already tell Lord Fossoway everything he needs to know, just not so easily give the required testimony, who other than Lord Eldon would have put the gold in the hand of the first in the chain of middlemen that set these events in motion?
Of more surprising news is the betrothal between Ser Preston Oakheart and Delia Blackbriar, lending credence to suspicions of Ser Balon having pleased Lord Walgrave greatly with his foul actions against the hated Dornish, implying perhaps, that he has committed atrocities beyond what is publicly known or alleged. Others suggests that as a cousin of Lord Peake, Lady Delia might bring other alliances which pleases Lord Walgrave. It might be that Ser Preston has been smitten with the delightful young lady, and Lord Walgrave finally have found a soft spot, about bloody time, some might say, considering his advancing years. Although one might wonder how House Blackbriar can afford the dowry.
The news from King's Landing is that King Daeron has called for a great council to convene at Harrenhaal to determine the crown's response to the recent hostilities on The Red Fork are met with a variety of reactions. From the maester denying this as being an actual great council in that lords are invited to consult the king rather than vote upon the matter to a lord noting that once called, the king can't very well not reject whatever compromise that emerges. One man suggests that the King intends to wash his hands off the resolution to buy time and shift the blame to lesser lords. Another wonders if this was the king's plan all along, under Bloodraven's spell undoubtedly, to force all the lords of the Seven Kingdom to chose where their allegiance truly lies. Butterbumps claims that he was offered to preside over the council, as a courtesy from one monarch to the other, he turned the generous offer down however, as he would be too exhausted from satisfying all the assembled ladies to perform ably in such a capacity.
