Septon Abelar observes decorum today, waiting outside the more senior priest's chambers before being ushered in at the appointed hour.
"Your Holiness." Septon Abelar bows. "Thank you for meeting with me. I wish to hear your wisdom regarding the empty seat on the Star Council."

What was once the private audience chamber of the High Septon is a seven-sided room on the upper floor of the building that for hundreds of years had served as the beating organizational heart of The Faith. The walls extends upwards in high arches beyond the rest of the floor, with a depiction of each of the seven in painted glass set into these looking down upon the occupants of the room. A student of sept architecture might note that this new style of construction became popular halfway into building The Starry Sept, and this chamber was not originally planned with these majestic trappings of power. Naturally, any who enter faces the stern visage of the father looking down upon them from behind Roswyn's seat. The original seat of the High Septon has since been removed, replaced by a more practical chair for doing the actual work. The black marble is fit for a king, though the furnishings are mostly that of a great lord, but great expense have been made to make it seem both humble and magnificent at the same time, and the walls would suggests that Roswyn is in love of reading, as the walls are lined with books and scrolls in neat organization, most of them are scrolls, but Abelar knows that these are simply reports and accounts, some of them are so old now as to have little value but decoration. But it is practical to have such things on hand for easy reference without having to send someone to the archives. Roswyn is not the man to stand on ceremony in private with people he knows and have no need to cow or impress with such theatrics, in Abelar's case, he have figured that it likely wouldn't work anyway, so why waste the time? He simply points to a chair on the other side of his desk and gestures to a flagon on a side table by an attending acolyte should Abelar wish for refreshments, it does not appear that Roswyn intends to have any. He leans back, simply awaiting for Abelar to continue, Roswyn suspecting that Abelar wanted something else than just the opinion of the man who would pen the recommendation to send to King's Landing on whom to appoint.

"Your Holiness, neither of us are young men; I will not waste our time. I have come to ask whom you support to take up the empty seat on the Star Council." Abelar maintains eye contact, trying to read Roswyn's expression.
"And I do not ask out of idle curiosity. You and I have made the strength of the Church our life's work, and choices like this one are too important not to influence. I intend to throw myself into the fray, but I would know your thoughts on the matter first--it would be unfortunate if our efforts came into conflict with one another, especially with other opportunities likely to present in the coming months."
Give me a silver robe, and I'll let you fill the seat uncontested. You've traded away favors for silver before--now the wheel has turned around . . .

"Given that I will compose a letter of recommendation to His High Holiness, I think it would be wrong of me to settle upon a single candidate before each have had their chance to demonstrate their quality when properly assayed through the lens of heightened scrutiny, no?" Roswyn had always been very guarded around Abelar, or any belonging to the opposition, lurking unseen before suddenly making his move like a Pike taking it's prey unawares. He tents his fingers, as if sensing what Abelar is suggesting and apparently decides to raise the stakes. "The strength of the church is hardly defined by whom might fill out seven seats around a table, but rather, which pious lords are willing to add to it."

Roswyn did not tell it false, though his motives might be suspect "And is there a particular lord whose strength you would see added to the Church?"

"I think Ser Abelar might be amenable to take House Hightower to back to it's historical role as our great patron" Roswyn muses. "Though as with most nobles these days, certain ideas carried by a strong voice has the potential to incense him beyond reason." It might appear as if the most powerful man of the faith outside King's Landing suggests that Abelar ought to censor himself.
