Brackford is not unlike one of many villages that dots the Riverlands, a stone holdfast, little more than a hall with a private bedchamber for the knight of Brackford and an armory. A wooden wall atop earthowrks surrounds it, with kitchens, stables and foodstores protected inside, Robyn can also see the skeletal structure of a wooden watchtower, planks offering some protection for archers inside, it's primary purpose appears to provide early warning of threats. There is a wooden sept, a blacksmith and a few craftsmen's shops, there is a wooden wall surrounding the houses, it would hardly do more than delay a determined attacker, but it is too tall for a horse to simply jump across. The mission given to Robyn is to make Ser Manfryd fulfill his obligations to his liege, and ask for him to provide a hostage for good behavior, Bloodraven suggested his seven year old daughter as being the most desirable, dearly loved by her father, and "the little lady of the house" ever since Ser Manfryd's wife died of a chill some years ago.
Setup
Robyn has two Blackwood adjutants with him, with 3D+1B in relevant skills, which may offer assists or roll in his stead.
Step 1: Entrance.
Audience Test TN 12
-Per DoS beyond the first: +1 to all following tests.
-Simple Failure: -1D to all following tests.
-Critical Failure: As simple failure, and can at most gain a 0 DoS result on the step 2 tests.
Step 2: Courtesies
Status (Breeding)* TN 9
Persuasion (Charm)* TN 12
-Succeed on both tests: +1 to all following tests per 3 total DoS.
-Per Simple Failure: -1D to all following tests.
-Critical Failure: As simple failure, only that the penalty is not ignored if using intimidate.
Step 3: Speak softly or wield a big stick.
Simple Intrigue (Convince or Intimidate) TN 12.
-Convince: +1 Chivalry on a success.
-Intimidate: If you suffered penalties in step 2, you ignore them, otherwise +1D to the test while losing any bonuses from step 2.
-Per DoS beyond the first: +1 to all following tests.
-Simple Failure: -1D to all following tests.
-Critical Failure: Ser Manfryd will hear Robyn's message, but refuse to budge, mission fails.
Step 4: Haggling:
Simple Intrigue (Bargain)* TN 12.
-1 DoS: Prevent all loss of strength as Ser Manfryd honors his vows, +1 chivalry, +1 influence.
-2 DoS: Secure a hostage.
-3 DoS: Make Ser Manfryd give up his daughter as the hostage. +1 Influence
-Robyn may add +10 to his bargain result by promising to marry the daughter once she comes of age (-3 influence if Ulbert signs off on it, -3 chivalry if Ulbert decides against).
-Simple Failure: Ser Manfryd sends only half the force he is expected to contribute (-5 Strength) and does not personally join.
-Critical Failure: Ser Manfryd will hear Robyn's message, but refuse to budge, mission fails.
Step 5: Desperate times:
If the mission fails, Robyn may attempt a simple intrigue (Intimidate) TN 18 against crowd to try and arrest Ser Manfryd.
-Only the step 1 result modifies this roll.
-On a success, Ser Manfryd will be brought back to Raventree in chains (and undoubtedly face the choice between the black and being hanged as an oath-breaker), 8 of the strength loss is mitigated.
-On a simple failure, Ser Manfryd's men back him up and the mission fails.
-On a critical failure, Ser Manfryd decides to take Robyn and the other emissaries captive, attempting to escape should be possible (generally only longswords and non-AP armors available).
Consequences:
-Loss of 10 Bracken Strength unless mitigated as noted under various steps.
-Being taken captive is likely to prevent further involvement in the campaign.
Consideration for Qualities:
Proud: Applies to accepting assists/substitution.
Impatient: -1D applies to tests marked with*
