Robyn knows that these woods stretches all the way home, even if they are leagues and leagues away from Starkwood lands. The path is just wide enough for their wagons in places, it's well enough used that mostly it's easy enough to traverse and not offer too much headaches if meeting another wagon. But there are parts so narrow that getting the wagons through makes everything come to a standstill, perfect places for ambushes a Starkwood might point out, but in peaceful enough times in the Reach, there were very few lords like Ulbert who actually would have scouts fanning out on both sides of the road well in advance, knowing full well that they were more likely to bring back something to enrich the evening's cookpot than news of any threat. In part he'd justify the caution by calling it excellent training for when the peace is broken, followed by a reminder that the young man who will see no war and battle by the time he becomes old is a very lucky one, most men will see more than one battle before becoming old, if they survive that is. Best then, to be as prepared as possible so as to increase one's chances of getting old, no? Lord Vardis is not like his peer in this regard, more like most other lords thinking himself perfectly safe in the company of his knights and men at arms. Right until the moment when someone cries ambush and the men at arms only have time to get their shields up before the arrows starts whistling.

Robyn isn't one for riding through countryside's. Sure, he knows that to get from point A to point B, a little bit of riding and sight seeing is required. But, when you are riding without a purpose except to get somewhere, every bump in the road is a sick reminder that you are not there yet. So instead, he has been using this time to watch the Lady Falyse. He hasn't had the chance to talk to her, or at least, more than the normal pleasantries that come with Lady to squire interactions. He knows that squiring for her father is everything he could have ever wanted, but there is a part of him that wonders if it is what he wanted that he should be focusing on, or what he found out that he wants in doing so. As these thoughts begin to circle his mind, a cry breaks him from his stare as a arrow flies overhead. An ambush. Inititive for: 3d6 8 Well, lets get the 3x rerolls! Reroll: 3d6 13

Mostly, the knights appears to be considered the most dangerous opponents, and thus the most targeted, Ser Zachery throws himself in front of the ladies and takes more than one arrow meant for them, yet howls of pain and panic from the wagon suggests that he was not fully successful, Robyn registers one of the handmaids falling limply to the ground and Ser Zachery himself takes an arrow to the shoulder and another to the thigh. Most of the men gets their shields up and form ranks, minimizing the damage.

A instant wave of shock hits Robyn as he watches arrows fall, just barely bringing up his shield to block one coming straight for his head. He lowers it as screams ring out, two high pitched yelps shaking his core as he realizes that they were defenseless. He quickly glances and sees Ser Zachery, honorably defending Faylse, taking two arrows for his trouble.
Something snaps in him. This is the first moment he finds himself in REAL battle, and now it is time to prove himself. He looks at Lord Vardis, following his lead, prepares for a charge, waiting to counter attack as he takes his place beside his Lord Cautiously waiting for a counterattack, just wanting to make sure that people are safe, but prepared to swing.

The rain of arrows mostly only finds interlocking shields, but the horses are not so lucky, and Lady Zia has had too many arrows scraping her skin for comfort, and the one that found it's way into her shin hurts a lot. With their own horses dead or dying, the Blackbar contingent finds themselves facing what might be the real threat, three knights on horseback, properly armed and armored thunders down the path. The arrows was merely meant to pin them down for these three to break and scatter the ranks from a flanking position.
Zachery->Bandits->Vardis->Robyn->Marq->Guards->Knights->Hedge Knights. A bit of a correction, Zachery doesn't get that badly hurt because cautious. This is... incredibly bad. After pulling his horse alongside his lord, Robyn watches as arrow after arrow pelts down onto his compatriots, waiting for the right moment to strike before suddenly the horse beneath him begins to give way. He manages to just spring off of it, rolling before standing up, watching as three horses come pounding down towards them. He does a quick look around, checking to see if there is any way to escape, any way to get Lady Falyse to safety. Not immediately seeing one, he shouts to Lord Vardis, "My Lord, we need to get Lady Falyse and Lady Zia out of here!" Think, Robyn, or this could be your last moment. Leap off Horse: 7d6k4+1 19 Success
Robyn is in a big pickle here, and knows that he does not want to be here when those horses come barreling down towards them. If there is an opening in the line, where he can break through some weaker targets he is going to take it, along with the Lady Falyse. But for now, he is going to stand by his Lord and cautiously prepare a counter attack. Robyn: 12/12 CD: 16 (13) AR: 3

With the newly arrived pressure, the arrows begins taking their toll on the guardsmen, Ser Willem and Ser Norren charges to the front only to be clattered to the ground by the morningstars wielded by the the opposing knights, a man might wonder why they carry the green hand of long dead House Gardener upon their shields, but probably not before after the battle. Lord Vardis commands his son to protect the women before himself raising his sword to lead his men from the front.

Seeing his Lord rush into battle causes Robyn to snap, and he realizes that if someone doesn't help him, then he will surely go down. If this means war, might as well get some blood on his sword to prove he is every bit as courageous as the knights above him. He takes off, rushing Marq, taking a stance beside his Lord, swinging up at the fully clad figure before him as he realizes he has never done this before, and it sends an odd chill down his spine. He swings up against the imposing figure, but as his sword glances off of him, he begins to think of other opitions, something to save him from this imposing doom that looms over him. Swing on Marq: 6d6k3+1 11 Failure

Is that a charge or a move+cautious attack? You should be explicit in the orokos dice description in the future.

Is that a charge or a move+cautious attack? You should be explicit in the orokos dice description in the future. Oh, sorry, that is totally my fault, honestly I thought you said I could charge them, and I thought they weren’t close enough to do a cautious attack. If he is, I get an additional d6, because that is what I would actually do. May I change that?

The idea was that distance is such that charge probably would be required. But you did mark your CD as 16 which implied you intended for cautious. The dices involved would be same in either case however.

The situation grows ever more desperate, and Lord Vardis takes first a heavy slash from the mystery knight that he fails to parry and must use his arm to stop and deflect, the blade cuts deep, and he is then hit by two arrows and slumps to the ground. The situation grows more desperate from moment to moment as the shieldwall begins to fail, the tide must turn and quick.
