Occurs after All The Fun of the Fair.
At the time, it had not seemed terribly significant to Trystane that he saw Otho Bracken enter the backrooms of The Rutting Boar. Aside from the spark of recognition, it had not seemed significant. But with some time, and the melee growing nearer, a use for the information formed in Trystane's mind, and he sought to put it to some use.
The first step in making it useful would be to determine if it was a one-off, or if Ser Otho was frequenting it regularly. This would determine how difficult it would be to get him back in there. And if it would be challenging, was he more amenable after drinking? If he didn't already want to go to the backrooms, how best to get him to want it?
He also needed to find out what he favoured. The idea was to learn how to get him as off-guard as possible. What was it that he asked for that would leave him exhausted or distracted or passed out, and therefore vulnerable? Everyone had something like that, Trystane was sure of it. A sufficient bribe and some honeyed words to the staff should get him the information, he surmises.
Once this information is learned, then there is the matter of charming a few of the lower orders of the Bracken contingent into telling him what Ser Otho's schedule would be on the night and morning before the melee itself. This would tell Trystane the best way to compromise him. Something slow-acting that could be administered during an evening at The Rutting Boar, perhaps during a visit to the backrooms? Or something faster in his breakfast to weaken him in the fight? It didn't really matter. That would be someone else's problem. Trystane only intended to sell or barter the information, though Ser Otho was by all accounts a hateful brute who he wouldn't need much persuading to try taking out himself.
Gods, you changed quickly after leaving home. Ironic that it is after leaving the place the Reachmen call a vipers' nest that you start adopting this underhanded behaviour. And you have the nerve to call it justice too.
Once again donning a disguise and having his coinpurse ready to be lightened, Trystane pushes the protesting voice in his mind away and starts digging for information.
