Mikel also used grappling/knockdown when he fought the duel which began mounted after Asharas death, I'll have to look up the individuals name.
He then killed Mikel's horse so they were both dismounted, I'll try to find a link.
I remember in the melee (otho) it was the considered underhanded, but less so in the duel.

It feels rather difficult to push/pull someone off a horse while you yourself are on horseback (lots easier if both are moving, there's techniques for dragging someone off the horse if both are moving and you're coming up from behind).
Much easier if you're standing on the ground and thus can have gravity on your side.

Now that I'm finally getting around to my fight with Ser Norren I've got a quick question about one of my strategies: if I use a Combined Attack action to hit him with an unarmed strike as well as a sword, can I initiate a grab?

If I recall correctly, we had unaed attack/grab as something we could do at the same time for a little bit but it got changed to having to declare which your are doing.
As in, you must now declare if you are trying to hit or if you are trying to grab. If you want to unarmed hit, then grab.
I hope that makes sense, and that my answer is accurate!

Mikel is right. This post has the grab house rules: greatbastards.boards.net/thread/1266/combatSorry for not copy/pasting, on mobile.

1. There's supposed to be uncertainty over it (but downtime have maybe had more stuff in it than anticipated). 2. I think it's strong enough as is, but I can see the logic.

1. There's supposed to be uncertainty over it (but downtime have maybe had more stuff in it than anticipated). 2. I think it's strong enough as is, but I can see the logic. 1. Thanks - does seem like we're past 1-2 sessions worth of downtime fun! 2. Agree it has been useful, it's a combination of verisimilitude (makes sense, but perhaps at 1/2 rate) and not wanting it to be useless during any extended war (otherwise it makes sense just to withdraw the destiny point, which isn't very satisfying. Would rather lock it in for narrative reasons but have it grant a smaller benefit for "serious business").

Problem with altering would be that main effect would be needed to be watered down if so, I think.
Besides, good odds of impromptu knight of summer tourneys being thrown during the war...The Reach being what it is. Maybe not once people have started dying for real.

This is probably a tortured comparison but in my unit (that's what she said) we trained in lethal and non-lethal hand to hand techniques. You could apply the same thing to Tourney Knight.
I get wanting a broader use for it considering the investment but if we're giving out 1/2 benefit for "real" combat do we open a can of worms with other abilities? Shield Mastery is for "real" combat. Why not tourneys. Shouldn't Balon be able to deflect tourney lances better?
Maybe give TK a non-combat utility for events or bonuses to certain rolls like status? Maybe a + to charm the ladies because they love those mega Chads winning those joust with their giant... coin purses.

Levels playing field in tournaments too, more varied winners.

For Peace in our time: "moving the crowds" does does the modifier "If your target is affiliated with you (faction allegiance, family or service ties): -Convince results are halved." mean we halve the dice roll (14 becomes a 7) or does it mean DOS is halved?

Result is halved, so if say, Addam wanted to praise Bracken heroes...he'd roll, maybe get 6 DoS for a x1 modifier, ordinarily +2VP, halved to +1VP.

a couple of Stage 3 question
For Flirtation, does the crit fail also apply to the optional Awareness or just the seduction and chance test (kinda harsh with a low chance of a payoff in my opinion)? Also it states chance success gets a flat +3 Approval, but further down it says approval per DoS is based off of TN 12. Is that a typo or is their missing information?
For Gossip, with the simple intrigue roll, is it a straight up just persuasion or deception roll, or are specialties allowed based on type of rumor.

Hmm, there's some holdovers from earlier versions in there....cleaned it up and added a disposition bonus and lowered chances of bad outcomes a little.
