Lord Eustace Butterwell have sent invitations far and wide for a grand spectacle at Whitewalls, his grand seat east of the God's Eye was costly to build, the pale castle is commonly called the Milkhouse by those who lives near it. Its walls, keep, and towers are made of white stone quarried in the Vale of Arryn, and its floors and pillars are crafted from white marble veined with gold. The rafters are carved from the trunks of weirwoods. The Tourney will be held on the fields between the castle and the town of Lordsview, where all the chivalry of the Trident is assembled to match their ability against that of the rest of the realms

Timeframe:
Each event is assumed to be on different days for the purposes of benefits, fatigue, injuries etc. Wounds sustained in the joust will be carried into the melee. The Joust and melee have special rules for this.

Restrictions: Attending this Tourney makes you count as absent for the purposes of House Fortunes. All characters intending to go must declare here before they may partake in any events at Whitewalls. Specifying whether or not they will be signing up for joust or melee.

Notes about interactions between events
-All the Fun of the Fair includes an option which gives a bonus to a single event of your choice at Whitewalls.
-Vying for Favor requires completion before matches for the joust can be selected, resolving participation there should thus be prioritized.

To sign up for the Tourney:

Chivalrous Knights need only add their names to the rolls of the joust with no objections raised.

Mystery Knights, Hedge Knights and others of dubious suitability must first pass through the qualifier:

Qualifiers involves actual jousting, but is simplified to undertaking the following tests (you must also ride at a Quintain first, but that is easier than to ride against a man), add the bonus from tourney knight (if any):
3x Animal Handling (Ride) TN 9
3x Fighting (Lance) TN 12

To proceed, you must accumulate at least 9 DoS across the tests. A critical failure results in outright elimination from the competition.

All characters who qualify for the joust may also sign up for the melee.

A tourney of this size is just too big an opportunity for Laena to miss. She succeeds or fails based on connections and knowledge, and this should hopefully provide plenty of both.

[However much she wishes to stab something, she will nonetheless not disguise herself as a mystery knight and join the joust or melee.]

When one commits murder it's best to leave the scene of the crime. In the case of Ser Balon he left the Reach entirely and made for the Riverlands. What's the worst that could happen? It's not like the Riverlands is swarming with Dornish cunts.

Balon signed up for the joust and said a silent prayer of thanks to the Seven that there was no repeat of the indignation he suffered at the hands of Ser Lewyn Rowan. He didn't expect to win the joust but he wanted to get farther than he did at the Black Tourney.

What he was looking forward to more than the joust was the Melee. At Highgarden he'd made it to the final 16 before Redtusk himself had made Balon yield. Perhaps this time he could win? Crazier things had happened.

Hugh Blackwood is sent to enter Ser Roland's name for both the joust and melee. As a test for his squire, Roland asked for a thorough report back on the other knights and lords in attendance. The venue itself was a wonder, and Roland wished to devote the time to walking the wondrous white Vale stone rather than dealing with bureaucratic manners.

House Butterwell may be upjumped cattle thieves, but Whitewalls would put the seats of storied houses to shame.

Mikel had left early to come to the Riverlands and spend some time at Harroway before the tournament. He and Harold visited with loved ones that they hadn't seen in nearly two years, catching up with them and telling them all they could of what was happening in the Reach. Warning them of a coming war and what their opinions on what to do if it spilled into the Riverlands, which seemed likely. But that time was brief and soon they were back on the road. Arriving at Whitewalls for Lord Butterwell's tournament had a nostalgic affect on Mikel and old memories came to him as sharply as if they had only just occurred. Their first stop once at Whitewalls was to add Mikel's name to the list for the joust and melee.

A cloaked squire waits until the end of the day, when the line to sign up has almost shrunk away and the scribes are tired. He asks that The Anvil Gloom Knight is to be added to the Mystery entrants. The Page simply nods and repeats the name without thinking much, but Ser Roger Wode, Master at Arms at Whitewalls and the Tourney Master of the occasion snaps at attention at hearing that name. He explodes in rage and profanities, screaming from the top of his lungs that this is a noble tourney, not some mummer's farce. He demands for the squire to identify himself, but the hood he reached for to pull down has effortlessly evaded his grasp and, fleet of foot, the squire dashes away and disappears among the crowds with a high pitched snicker. With purposeful steps, Ser Roger pushes away the boy and smears enough ink over that abominable name to ensure that not a single letter of it can be discernible, grumbling to himself that he must read over the lists three times over in person to ensure that any other attempts at marring *his* tourney have not slipped past these lazy pieces of shit they had sent him. If he finds anything else he does not like, they'll be placed on latrine detail for the entire tourney.

As Ser Roger Wode still scratches out the name of "The Anvil Gloom Knight" from the entrants, grumbling under his breath cursing the scribes, a middle aged retainer with greying hair, deep lines in his face and heavy set eyes approaches, behind him a young lordling dressed in black velvet, dark of hair and eyes. Without concern for Ser Wode, the retainer presents a writ of heritage and begins to speak. "Ser Thaddeus Levalle, first born son of Lord Alliser Levalle of The Tear, son of Lord Manfryd Levalle of The Tear, son of Lord Robert Levalle of The Tear, son of Ser Barri-" he is interrupted by the already tired and frustrated Ser Roger, "Yes, yes, very well! Ser Thaddeus Levalle." he grunts to the scribe to put the name down. "What events will Ser Thaddeus enter?"

The Lordling behind, who seemingly had not been paying attention to the conversation but absently been looking in the way of where the hooded squire had made his escape, turns to Ser Wode smiling. "The joust." briefly examining one of the many fine rings on his right hand, he adds with a careless shrug, "and the melee, I suppose."

Ser Roger eyes the lordling up and down with a discerning eye. Being met with nothing but a smile, he adds the name to both events.

"Thank you" the lordling says softly, glancing at the black spot of ink where "The Anvil Gloom Knight" had been written. "A terrible business, that.", he nods to Ser Roger and takes his leave.

[OOC Just retcon establishing Davos' presence as I have already rolled for the tactician's tourney.]

Ser Davos arrives and puts his name on the list for the various competitions. He was no tourney knight and had fought enough in his life that fighting was mo longer fun, but he had traveled here with the Starkwood contingent and might as well show these northerners what a proper Dornish knight could do.

That turne out to be a middling at best performance in the joust and melee - he acquitted himself well enough but his heart wasn't in it to push for a higher victory. In the tactician's tourney on the other hand, he allowed himself to shine. The knights of westeros might consider themselves seasoned warriors if they had been in a border skirmish or two, but Davos had spent the better part of a decade as a lieutenent of the Second Sons. The bald politics of the selection process did not allow for a Dornish supreme commander, however - or so Davos presumed. He gracefully bowed out under the guise of giving the younger and greener competitors a chance to gain some valuable experience. In truth he simply did not care enough to contest the selection... and anyone with half a brain would know that it is best to keep one's best tricks to oneself until needed. For some gratuitous false glory and hollow commendations? No, his tricks were for winning when it really mattered - when lives were on the line.
