Typically biting off the head of its killer. "In terms of blood, Lady Ashara was my cousin. I am proud to say that, in my heart, she was my sister." A short and heartfelt eulogy. Many no doubt appreciative that she did not drag things out. Of course, her true eulogy would be the spilling of the blood of the one who sent the assassins. All this was was a public sentence of death. Follow the trail of bloodTToS - Following Trail - Proud - TN13: 4d6 19 Pass! Even before she begins, Laena has very strong suspicions as to who was responsible. Maybe because she didn't *want* it to be the main alternative, but she didn't think so. But she still gave her all into the investigation. The revenge that was slowly taking shape in her head would be wasted if she used it on the wrong target. Edit: Before they began, Laena led a group of sympathisers, both in dividing up the tasks appropriately, as well as coming up with ideas for where their eyes should naturally be looking, without ruling out any options. She brings in Malyk to ensure the meeting flows smoothly, and there's no clash of egos at a time when most people in it are feeling rather raw. She almost regrets it when Ser Davos brings in his brother, Ser Roger Dayne of the Kingsguard. They may both have been Ashara's uncles, but Kingsguard were known to be observant, which in this particular case was to be a double-edged sword - while she'll let human 'justice' take first swing at Ashara's murderer, she had no intention of letting it end there. Ultimately, they would feel draconic justice, and the more honourable sorts there were close to the matter, the riskier it would be. NPC Participation: Eoric Applehouse to intentionally deliver insults.
Balon hadn't attended the feast at Summerhall for a myriad of reasons, his hatred of the Rhoynar chief among them. Though it took time for the news of Ashara's death to reach him Balon didn't take any particular pleasure from the news. He didn't like her but he didn't want to see her dead either (his fantasies of strangling her aside). He thought of what he might've said had he attended the feast and subsequent funeral and shook his head in affirmation that he'd made the right decision not to go. For there would've been many to challenge him had they heard what he had to say about the Starkwoods and their poison-tongued Ashara.
But if there was anyone at Gyldenhaal that hated the Dornish as much as Balon it was the Blackbriar Captain of the Guard, Ser Eoric Applehouse. And he had attended the feast. Oh I pray that foul mouthed runt let his opinion be known.

"Honour her at her best? You mean on her back?" Eoric crudely snorts in respons to Lord Olyvar's quip. His laughter is more of a course wheezing than an expression of enjoyment. "That half-breed bitch spent so much time on her back that even Balon, the ugly basterd got her there after only five minutes! I'll bet yer a fuckin' Dragon that those dumb fucks they found around her died of exhaustion from fucking that insatiable heathen whore!" A man that never smiles can look truly horrifying when he laughs, his face cracks and twists in a series of grotesque grimaces. "And another Dragon that the bitch died choking on good Reachman c-"
He doesn't quite get to finish before their little group is broken up by dissenters. Weakbellied, limpdicked dornish-lovers who'd rather their sons murdered and daughters raped by the snakes and vulture than speak their fucking mind.
But Eoric will fight them. He'll fight them all.
Basterds.

Lady Alicent holds a moving speech at the Sept, a speech only one born in Dorne but clearly with the Blood of Andals in her veins can make. Had it not been for her brother, House Yronwood would surely seem a friend to House Starkwood and a bridge across the Red Mountains, especially if her lord brother had the wits and will to pursue that path. Instead he set fire to the supports she had crafted for him to lay it upon. Instead she must bear witnesses to his drunken stupidity, and apologize as best she could for it. Then she proceeds to implore Ser Roland to treat this as a duel of honor, let it be to first blood, not to the Stranger's Gates. She suffered terribly once word of his uncertain fate reached Highgarden, if he might have her in mind, she would be greatly pleased were he to offer to fight with longsword on foot to simply establish whom The Warrior might favor, not whom The Stranger might claim. Ser Lyonel Baratheon, the heir to Storm's End stands vigil for Lady Ashara and delivers a solemn eulogy, short and full of impact as is his way. He is also among those offering his blade against those who insulted her. Maester Ronnel goes on his own fact-finding mission among those gathered here, too stubborn and proud to allow others to "slow him down". Ser Dickon Tarly joins in on the insults delivered, unable to help himself. A cousin of the lord of Horn Hill, he lost his father at Sandstone as Lord Lyonel was murdered there and his retinue massacred, but a page at the time, his two elder brothers, squires both, were slain with the young king under the false peace flag. The morning after the news broke, he discovered his mother having hung herself. The only good Rhoynar is a dead Rhoynar indeed. Ronnel auto-fails proud, cunning, streetwise: 6d6k4 18 7d6k5 16Lyonel Baratheon is shortlisted as the NPC opponent to face off Addam if no PC issues that challenge. Defeating Dickon Tarly is only worth +1 Glory to PC's with Fighting 4. Eoric is doing an NPC cameo because it's cool, also to offer one more duel opportunity, Titus obviously can't pick him to duel.

A soft wrap on Lady Laenas door is greeted to a dark skinned retainer in LeValle gold. He proffered a tube bearing Alliser's seal.
"My condolences my Lady. My Lord is sorry he could not attend, but he hopes that I may be of assistance to you."
Regyn bows deeply.

Laena nods at his words. "Next time you meet, tell your lord that just as surely as I will remember those who came to my sister's funeral for no other reason than to twist the knife, so too will I not forget those friends who, unasked and unexpected, stepped up in our time of need."

Vigil{P2} Tragedy: Vigil: Endurance(Stamina) [TN12]: 6d6k4 17 EulogyParmen chooses not to give an eulogy for RP reasons. Answer Insult{P2} Tragedy: Answer: Persuasion(Con) [TN12]: 5d6k3+6 17{P2} Tragedy: Answer: Status(Rep) +Chivalry [TN12]: 6d6k4+6 18NPC Participation: Lord Thaddeus RowanLet’s see what the Conciliator can do with this goat-screw
As far as Parmen could recall he and Ashara had never met but he still found her murder upsetting. The young knight was on good terms with several members of House Starkwood as well a Lady Ysilia who had been attacked at the same time but had managed to fight back and survive. Finally, Ashara had been one of the ones who had rescued Lady Lyanna, Imry’s wife. For that both Levalle’s and Florent’s owed her a debt that would never be repaid. Parmen volunteered to stand vigil alongside his good-brother. He exchanged a few word with Lord Roxton as they took their places in the sept. Imry lacked the stamina to make it all the way through the night but at least the boy had the honor to pay his respects and to offer words of kindness, stilted though they might be, to the family. Ser Titus Blackbriar was more impressive. After the riot at the camps it was a wonder that the knight could even walk, let alone stand a vigil. From the look on his face however it would have taken a morningstar to his head to end his vigil before the appointed hour. After the vigil came the eulogies. Parmen declined to give one, preferring to let those who had known Ashara speak. This was a time to honor the dead not to try and pay politics or steal glory. Unfortunately, not everyone seemed to see it that way. Parmen grew irritated, then frustrated and finally enraged at the seemingly endless line of supposed nobles who chose to use the moment to offer insult. What the fuck is wrong with people?! The fact that many of the braying asses considered themselves Fire supporters was salt in the wound. As a known supporter of Ser Daemon Parmen felt it doubly necessary to show that decency and honor were not just mere words that could be bandied around when convenient. “A young woman has been murdered. I do not care who she was, what House she belonged to, or on which side of the Red Mountains she spent her childhood. She rescued Lady Lyanna Levalle and should be honored for her bravery and resourcefulness.
“A young woman has been murdered and instead of showing respect or offering comfort to her family you howl like a sick dog and offer insult to those already suffering from grief. Real knights do not take glee in the killing of girls by cutthroats. The fact that that needs to be explained is embarrassing for all of us who swore vows to protect women and children.
"A young women has been murdered and nothing that is said or done can change that. Today is not about you or I. It is not about our pride or our vanity. It is about honoring a life, comforting a family and sending off a soul. Therefore I offer you a chance. Apologize now, in front of everyone for your insults. Otherwise pick-up the damn gauntlet and come face me tomorrow with steel in your hand."

Should open a thread under "Fields of Glory" with for any combat scene

Since Titus most likely will be fighting another duel that day, I'll fight some no-name. No duel scene needed, he's really sorry.

Ser Roland stood against Ser Dickon Tarly, already no friend of Ser Simon Tarly of Horn Hill he was little surprised the man's kin were as distasteful as he was.
Both had lost friends and relatives in the Dornish wars, but that did not mean knights could sully the sacred traditions of a funeral with such vulgarities.
