If there ever was a town good to die in, it would be Oldtown. The Silent Sisters, having washed and prepared Roland's body dress him in the purest white. Unsoiled by neither dirt nor blood nor pain or grief he lays, as if merely sleeping, in the Starry Sept where the hymns of the acolytes echoes between the seven solemn faces of their gods.
Many a lord, knight and lady come to pay their respect to the fallen Ser Roland Cordwayner, for if anything would stand proof of his value of character it would be the multitude of those who attended his vigil.
Titus stood guard all night. Praying that his friend would find peace in the world here-after, for Roland had truly deserved it. Rare was the knight who lived so selflessly and so true to the gods.
And rare was such a knight that would grow old.
Vigil and wake for us that would not be in Kingsbridge

Lynesse Daverhyl has never had the honour to make Ser Roland's acquaintance, but she had good reason to attend his wake in the Starry Sept. By all accounts he was an honourable man, and his death a loss to the chivalry of the Reach. Moreover, his death had been dealt by Ser Sandor, her uncle, who bore her family name if not her affection.
She accompanied Ser Titus to the wake, and kept the vigil for long hours. She did not break her peace with empty words, for many who attended felt this loss more keenly than she, but she was courteous and polite in the company of others and sang hymns where they were led by acolytes or more senior officials.. She noted carefully those who mourned Ser Roland most visibly, for those who would be the most likely to bear a grudge against Ser Sandor, and perhaps all of House Daverhyl.
She wonders, in the long hours, at the thorny question that underpins this tragedy.
Why did Ser Sandor Daverhyl seek an excuse to kill this knight?

Septon Roswyn leads those who have come to pay their respects in prayer and ceremony, the Hightowers are strong in attendance. Knights such as Ser Jasper Flowers, Ser Aubrey Ambrose and Sers Abelar, Raymun and Desmond Hightower stood vigil through the night. Lord Yelshire delivers a eulogy in the honor of a pious and honorable knight that demonstrates a knowledge of scripture far beyond that which most septons might claim. Ser Eustace Daverhyl is there, quietly observing and honoring the man, exchanging words with Lady Kyra Orme after the ceremony.

Despite fighting against Roland’s cause, Daeron stood vigil alongside Ser Titus. He would have a moment to say words over his fallen comrade, but perhaps a more public oration from him would be better served at Kingsbridge. For now he contented himself with observing the proceedings and the interactions of various lords and ladies. With so many Hightowers in one room he might be able to divine some friends and enemies of those jockeying for the Regency. He would have to meet with some of them, but after the vigil. The game of thrones could wait until after his friend had been honored. Songs End- Awareness (Notice)-Hightowers: 4d6k3 16
