Armond Caswell weds Saera of Lys (though she was but an infant when her family migrated to Oldtown), her dowry allegedly being her weight in gold, the daughter of a wealthy merchant intent of making a lady out of his daughter and knights out of his sons. Many frown upon the pairing, even though Armond already is widowed with children. Lady Shiera Blackbriar of Lord Caswell being the whore rather than bedding them, a refreshing change she notes, but these words are not repeated outside Gyldenhaal, and scarcely even there. The marriage ceremony and feast is modest, Highgarden honors it's bannerman with the presence of Ser Willas Tyrell, Lord Blackbriar attends as a brother in law should, but aside from the customary toast and kind rehearsed words at the gift giving, he remains mostly silent, speaking only one word for each three score uttered by his wife.
A string of betrothals are announced, Lord Gwayne Meadows moves quickly to secure the promise of Lady Alysanne's hand, sister of Lord Ashford, his neighbor. A sensible choice for the newly made lord to forge an alliance with, the girl is rather plain to look upon, having drawn few suitors, just another young lady being presented as wife to be to a lord twice her age that she does not even know. The announcement of the betrothal between Ser Aladore Florent and Lady Jeyne Fossoway is made with much more fanfare as befits the joining of two great houses, Lord Benjen Willum is set to marry Lady Perianne Beesbury, a pretty woman of nine and ten with proven fertility, but questionable morals, having given birth to two bastards.
These and other announcements are overshadowed by the somewhat surprising announcement of the bethrothal of Ser Willas Tyrell to Lady Alerie Hightower, considering the state of chaos the death of Lord Jon left behind in his house, much speculation abounds. Lord Gormon Peake voices his suspicion of this being the work of Lord Mullendore, and where Lord Mullendore's schemes, Gormon observes, a helping hand from Lord Durwell is to be expected, and surely he has the ear of that dolt upon the Oakenseat. Gormon does not like the results of Lord Marq's latest schemes, but he also does have respect for his skill, above all he does not like having no idea about the man's motives. The Reach still holds it's breath in anticipation of that man making up his mind, while news of whom the likes of Lady Lysette Starling and Lady Daena Roxton might marry are of even greater interest.
The woes of House Blackbriar continues, with the bones of Ser Donnel returned, Lord Jon seems even more insular and withdrawn than usual, many of the smallfolk questions the departure of their treasured septon, demanding his return and refusing to attend the sermons of his meek replacement, preferring instead to hold their own gatherings, reciting Abelar's teachings as best they can from memory. Documents surface, allegedly correspondence between Lady Shiera and Lord Gormon where they plan to have Balon be made lord by stepping across the corpses of his uncle and cousin also surface, bringing much debate. While these documents appears genuine, their discovery is rather too convenient. Lord Jon refuses to believe them, and most agree that they are not sufficient for formally accusing Lady Shiera. But even so, they set in motion events that might change the course of Gyldenhaal forever. Lady Erena persuades her husband to reach out to House Starkwood (the letter is assumed to be in her hand), Lord Ulbert is quick to accept the proposal and soon young Joffrey is brought to his halls to become his cupbearer. Lady Shiera is granted leave to return to her maiden home of Starpike, taking her youngest son Vortimer with her to squire for Ser Horas Redwyne. The halls of Gyldenhaal are thus left much emptied, and many suspect that Lord Jon now has surrendered the rule to the much firmer hand of Lady Erena, who also have announced that she is with child. In a household were until very recently, Septon Abelar held such a powerful influence, there would surely be members of the staff coming forward to condemn her for adultery if this was the case.

For the most part, this thread is an open encouragement for single-post reactions to the various news and tidbits detailed (most PC's wouldn't be privy to the comments of Shiera and Gormon that are mentioned to add some flavor to the descriptions, and PC's probably does not know enough about the dynamics of Hightowers and bannermen to reach those conclusions).
Characters who attend Lord Caswell's wedding may present a gift (men would offer to the groom, women to the bride) worth a number of GD equal to the status rank of the giver and offering kind words: Simple Intrigue (charm) TN 12, gaining +1 Disposition with him on a success.
