Roland followed up his inquiries by calling on Lady Janna Hightower, the young maid whose favour he had carried all the way to his unexpected appearance in the jousting final. After opening pleasantries, Roland inquired as to what she knew of her cousin Alerie Hightower, who had prompted interest from several eligible young knights. Lady Janna acts disappointed that it is her cousin and not her that is being asked about, though more because she would have liked the attention than having any rush to be betrothed. As for Daeron Dwarfpuncher, she doesn't think such a man suitable to marry a Hightower even if the little monster deserves a comeuppance, whether those who makes the decisions shares her opinions is unknown. She stops herself from saying it explicitly, but Roland does get the impression that Lady Alerie will soon be betrothed to someone of high station, but she refuses to offer any more details, but no Hightower will be marrying Lord Eldon, that much she can safely say.

If the match was made at this damned venture I suspect politics rather than a love-match.
"A relief my lady, my gorget can only withstand so many rescues, and I suspect Lord Merryweather's appetite for beauty exceed my fortitude."
Roland touches the bandage at his neck, attempting a rueful smile.
"Or indeed our armoursmith's patience. It would serve my right if I prevailed again only to be felled by our goodman Pate."
He attempted some defence of his companion in arms.
"Ser Daeron has a Dragon's temper at times, but in the melee I trust we shall see that same fierceness turned to bravery. For the right woman I hope he could make a could make a good match, this has been a stressful and wild tournament - I suspect we have not seen him at his best. He is a man of notable birth and valour and while he has a temper he also knows how to make amends. Ser Daemon says even the best knights have flaws, but that true knights take responsibility as Daeron has with his head shaven in penance."
Yet again, Roland came back to Blackfyre's simple chivalric wisdom.
"I can but hope any matches for Hightowers are worthy of the name and the woman. You need but ask if you would have me relay my view of a man's merit. It is the least I can do after your favour carried me all the way to the final."
Roland bowed and departed, unless there was a twist to an otherwise pleasant meeting with the youthful but sharp Janna.
